I booked for 4 nights but extended my stay to 4 weeks!
The 4-bed dorm is spacious enough if the cupboard for storage. The beds are firmly comfortable. There is very effective air-con and a fan. The spacious attached bathroom has hot water. Everything is cleaned regularly...bed linen is changed when guests check-out and every 4-5 days my bed linen and towel were changed and the bathroom was cleaned.
The included breakfast is excellent...usually eggs and salad with 1 or 2 of either bread, hash-brown, rice or noodle soup. The kitchen specialises in Mexican-style food for dining at other times.
The outdoor / undercover communal areas are large. There is a billiard table and a small pool.
I like the location. It's quiet, no hustle and bustle, with an 800m walk to the start of the main (local) shopping street, and another 2km to the heart of the touristy Cat Ba town centre.
The owners / staff are pleasant, friendly and laid-back...but still attentive and responsive.
There is absolutely nothing I could complain about or suggest management do differently...it is amongst the very best places I have stayed in 10+ years of travelling within Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
