About this cabin rental

Lift the glass wall between the kitchen and screen porch, and the entire house feels like you're outside. Wind up the spiral stairs to the upper deck, and that's your Lakeside Lookout over an expansive lake, hence the name. It's a one-of-a-kind, custom-designed lake home that leaves you with an overwhelming sense of peace, a true retreat at The Retreat at Water's Edge. Two stories, black outside, pine paneling inside, with a hot tub on the deck, a fire pit at the water, and four kayaks to launch from the deck onto glass-smooth water (no motors allowed on the lake).

Built for a couple who want a quiet lake to themselves, and comfortable for a family of six.

The screened porch includes a table for six over the water. The kitchen has a quartz island, a dishwasher, a full-size refrigerator, an electric cooktop and oven, a Keurig coffee maker and a toaster. The living room has an electric fireplace under a large television and comfortable seating area. The main-level king bedroom includes a tub-and-shower bath. Upstairs, a second king bedroom has windows that look down into the family room that can be closed off for privacy. It also has a desk that looks over the water for the perfect work-get away. The upstairs bunk nook holds two extra-long twin beds, and the second bath has a walk-in shower. A spiral stair leading to the lakeside lookout deck is perfect for an after-dinner drink while watching the sunset.

Outside: the hot tub on the deck, a smokeless fire pit with Adirondack chairs at the shoreline, and a short dock for loading four kayaks.

Water's Edge sits outside Tracy City on the Cumberland Plateau, about 45 minutes from Chattanooga, and no gas-powered boats are allowed on its lake, so the water stays calm and quiet. Foster Falls and South Cumberland State Park are minutes away, Sewanee is a short drive, and guests have access to the hiking trails and one of Tennessee's tallest waterfalls at The Retreat at Deer Lick Falls.

What is included: The hot tub, the fire pit, four kayaks with paddles and life jackets, charcoal grill, linens, towels, soaps, paper goods, wifi, free parking and keypad entry at any hour. Firewood is not included; bring your own or buy a bundle from Retreat Vacations.

Other things to note: Sleeps six, and the primary renter must be 21. Up to two pets are welcome with prior approval; email Guest Services before you book, and the pet fee is $100 plus tax. No smoking. Gravel drive and stairs, including a spiral stair to the rooftop deck; not wheelchair accessible. A doorbell camera covers the entry; there are no cameras inside the home.
