The location is very central, right next to the main cathedral. Daily room cleaning was a definite plus. The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was good and satisfying. The AC was another plus :)
Cleanliness could be improved—upon arrival, we had to request additional cleaning in the bathroom, though it was fine afterward. The bathroom and shower area were quite small and not very comfortable. There was also noticeable noise at night during the weekend from a nearby party venue.

I only stayed for one night but the check in, the staff, the room were all fine. The structure of the building and the inside the room is not your luxury hotel but it has everything you need to spend the night. My room came with aircon and a little balcony.
The noise did not bother me from the clubs near by since I can sleep through anything but some may not find this to be the case. Earplugs can fix that. I do want to see me counter space in the bathroom to place your items but again is not a luxury hotel is good for a night sleep.

Hotel Carioca is an old building that has been tastefully remodelled preserving the integrity of its age. I loved the reading room off the dining room, the comfortable lounge area, the big windows in the bedroom that opened onto the. balcony & view.
The breakfast was excellent!
Great location with friendly & helpful staff.

Friendly staff.
There's a concert or club next year that played loud music passed 3AM on Saturdays. Good location if you party there, but not for tired travelers who want early rest.
