Woodstock Hotel

The bed was lovely and warm and the room was excellent. We were pleased with everything and our pet was happy too. Lots of room.

Hand basin seems to be blocked- and not a great place to wash dishes!

Very comfy bed and good location with nice view. Very simple accomodation but does the job for the night.

Radiator was too noisy to have on but room was very cold without it on in the winter. However bedding was lovely and cosy to compensate!

Location... quiet, with a really lovely view of the river and hills beyond; even had some frolicking sheep to watch in the field opposite the outdoor area, which is a great place to enjoy your beer and meal. The restaurant... it has the atmosphere of an age to be preserved. No music the night we were there but it must be awesome when it's 'all go'! Mitch... the front man for the restaurant and accommodation is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and patient. Food... it was delicious with delicate flavors shining through. Craft beer... some of the best we've tasted. Cleanliness...the hotel units were pristine and Rebecca the housekeeper is deserving of praise for this.

It would be lovely if the plant boxes in front of the units could be kept up, as in past photos. The odor some mention was there a little. However, after visiting Hokitika Gorge and smelling the same thing when amongst native plants in varying stages of life and decay, we wonder if the smell may very well be the vegetation behind the units... a decaying, innocent culprit:)))?

Room was a good size and spotlessly clean. Hotel was easy to find and conveniently located next to the main road.

Although the rooms were spotlessly clean they smelt ‘stale’. Opened all the doors and windows for 10 mins which cleared the smell. TV channels in our unit didn’t work and the owner who was really nice wasn’t able to sort it. The accommodation is described as dog friendly but when we asked the receptionist if there was a dog waste bin i was told they don’t have one and i would have to take dog waste away with me!, hardly dog friendly. The steps (including area under the hand rail) and the decking in front of the rooms were overgrown with weeds which looked really unsightly. Cleaner was awesome!
