Akademie Street Boutique Hotel

Akademie Street is the best boutique hotel I have ever stayed in. Behind its modest historic façade lies a beautiful, intimate world of houses, gardens and courtyards, where Declan and his team make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. There is something wonderfully personal about the whole experience. We felt as though we had been welcomed into a family’s home. We stayed in our own spacious little house, complete with a library and living area. As we settled in and explored, my appreciation grew into genuine astonishment. I was completely overwhelmed by the extent of the attention to detail. Every room, garden passage and quiet corner revealed something else to admire, and the same extraordinary standard ran through the entire property. I have never encountered such a wealth of thoughtful touches so consistently and beautifully brought together. The pleasure goes well beyond appearance. Everything feels chosen to be enjoyed and used, from the antique dominoes waiting for a game to the stove already prepared for lighting. Modern comforts fit naturally into the historic surroundings, and the house is so inviting that you find yourself wanting to spend more of your holiday simply being there. Breakfast in the plant-filled orangery was a highlight in its own right. Beautifully prepared fruit, homemade granola and freshly cooked dishes were served personally at our table, with time to savour both the food and the atmosphere. What makes it all so memorable, though, is the hospitality. Declan’s enthusiasm and the kindness and attentiveness of the whole team give the hotel its heart. I have stayed in several excellent five-star hotels, but this combination of exceptional quality and such a warm, relaxed, familiar atmosphere surpassed anything I have experienced. Akademie Street has become my personal benchmark.

We genuinely cannot think of anything we would change. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer.

Fabulous place - loved the atmosphere especially the orangery wher we sat by the fireside in the evening or had breakfast in the morning. Best breakfast ever!

Only small thing was I found the bed in our room a wee bit too hard for me .
