I would have expected the pillows to be better. They were rather small and no very supportive. Other rooms facilities were excellent. The restaurant was good however, did require more staff, only one person taking orders, serving and then taking payments. The bar had 3 staff!

The breakfast was extremely good. Plus the length of time that breakfast was available was a bonus. We liked the fresh fruit and yogurt bowls and they were replenished as required.

When we checked in to our room it had not been cleaned properly. There were two bags of fast food detritus left behind - one on top of the wardrobe and the other in a bedside drawer. There was also dirty clothing and make up left in a dressing table drawer. We ‘phoned down to reception and were asked to leave it outside the door, which we did.

Excellent location for train travel. Room was large, clean & airy. Breakfast was adequate.

Bar staff need to be better trained. Had no knowledge of the spirit I ordered. My stay was marred by no conclusion to my problem. I left my phone charger-my mistake-plugged into a socket in my room. I was informed it hadn’t been found-strange-but they would check again and let me know. No follow-up received.

When first arriving, we were allocated a room in a separate building that is connected by an annex. This part of the hotel is awful. The corridors were scruffy and not at all to the standard of the reception in the main building. We walked into the tiniest room, dated and scruffy decor, tiny bathroom and the tv was positioned that you could only watch it from a chair about a metre away from it! There were holes in the wall from brackets etc. I went to reception and explained that I appreciated that I had booked through Booking.Com but it was not what I was expecting and there were certainly no photos of these rooms on the page. They offered me an upgrade for an additional £25 into the main part of the hotel and it was lovely - a spacious and modern room. It's a shame that this information isn't available when you are booking and I would have selected prior to arrival.
