Quinta do Fôjo

The location was spectacular with fantastic views of the Douro Valley.

It was a little difficult to drive to as the roads are very narrow and steep.

We cannot say enough great things about our stay at Quinta do Fojo, Elizabete is a most welcoming and gracious host/owner. The grounds are spectacular, our breakfast each day was delicious. The special touches that Elizabete adds, her homemade jams/marmalades along with the home grown/made olive oil with her label. It is such a peaceful place to just relax, and be away from the busy city. The wine tasting experience along with the details she provides make it worth the price. Hearing from an actual Quinta owner on how difficult it is to own/operate a vineyard, and still enjoy doing it. Spectacular.

We could not think of any way to improve on the old world charm of this home and the grounds surrounding it.

It was absolutely beautiful! Elizabeth was a fantastic hostess. The wine yard was amazing, the views breathless, and very comfortable! Loved Momma!

Loved everything!

Wonderful views from the hilltop pool.   The bathrooms (private, but not adjacent) worked fine.  Breakfast included fresh bread delivered daily from bakery, plentiful fruits, and homemade marmalades. The hostess did everything possible to be present, communicative and hospitable, including extra effort to coordinate receipt of baggage being delivered.  Don't miss asking about a time to get a tasting tour of the property itself.

In respect of the hostess and other guests, it was important to speak softly and tip-toe carefully/quietly during evening and nighttime.
