Room Mate Oscar, Madrid

Great hotel and room in a perfect location with lovely breakfast.

The room had a faint smell of cigarette smoke that either came from the upholstery or bedding. The shower was a difficult to set the water temperature in and the shower tray definitely needed to have a non slip mat in ! The bank of light switches by the room door meant we left the toilet light on continuously through the night as, when getting up to use the toilet, to find the correct switch was near on impossible!

Excellent and friendly staff. Very good breakfast.

I found the room a little smaller than I expected and somehow dated.

Room Mate Oscar is in a great location, easy to walk to many areas of interest. The room was spacious and had enough room for us to unpack which is a plus. The rooftop bar and plunge pool were used by us many times - especially during the heatwave. The hotel is within the LGBT area which is good to note and lots of little bars and clubs around.

No negatives, we checked in late easily and were able to relax in the rooftop bar/pool during the big heatwave.

The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of Gran Vía. All of the main attractions are within walking distance, and the nearest metro station is just a one-minute walk away, making it very convenient to get around Madrid. The staff were friendly, professional, and always happy to help. The hotel was also exceptionally clean, and the high standard of housekeeping made the stay even more enjoyable. The air conditioning worked perfectly and cooled the room very well, which was especially important for a summer stay like mine.
