The location and very polite stuff

For a five star hotel they didn’t have slippers and forget to put coffee capsules

Lovely staff, excellent breakfasts, comfortable bed, perfect location

Only one small thing- our balcony (room 101) looked out on an inner courtyard with garbage bags, truck exhaust, occasional smokers and noise. But perhaps those come with the inner city location which worked well for us.

Staff was exceptional, very friendly, helpful, accommodating and always responsive. Location was excellent, walking distance to most attractions in the city, as well as shopping and dining. Nearby metro station made it easy to go anywhere else. Very clean property with good maintenance. Breakfast was delicious, with many choices (including very healthy ones). Room was quiet even though it faced a major street and the hotel was very centrally located.

The overall design of the room and bathroom made it difficult to unpack and have things on hand. Had to use luggage as additional drawer. This is a flaw with many hotels in many countries (including US). Ideally there should be nightstands on either side of bed, with drawers; a chest of drawers; a closet that can fit more than a few items. Bathroom should have counter space and shelves to put things and keep handy. And lighting was too dim in bathroom and overly complicated in the room itself (had to figure out how to turn different sets of lights on and off).

Location was amazing, right in the centre of the city with shops, restaurants and tourist activities all a short walk away. Hotel was modern and trendy, breakfast was absolutely amazing, the room was cosy and comfortable, staff were very friendly.

Staff response to an incident. Upon arriving we were offered a complementary drink as the hotel checked us in. When the drinks were brought over, they both slipped and smashed on to my phone, passport and wallet which were on the table, drenching all of it. I was not frustrated or angry with this at all as mistakes happen, we are human after all. However the response to the damage was not good. Despite this and the damage to my personal items, there was no offer of anything to help remediate or any good will as a result of the accident, to the extent that we were still charged for water consumed from our mini bar in room. I am not so entitled to think I "deserved" something, but I walked away with a damaged mobile phone and passport and would have at least expected some show of good will as a result. They were lovely people, but did not handle this particular situation as best as they could.
