We didn't realize this was part of a church. This was a little weird but added to the experience. The man checking us in was very friendly and gave us some good tips. Whole place is dated but clean. No parking out front, but it's not a long walk to the back.

A wonderful stay at the Fransiskus Hotel.
With This review, I would like to give a VERY BIG THANK YOU to Patrick - he was in charge of the front desk during my stay. I cannot say enough good things about how well he treated me. Polite, professional, and friendly. He also gave excellent recommendations for dining and even exploring the Snæfellsnes peninsula. I hope that ownership and management recognize his efforts.
The rooms are clean and well-appointed. The location is within walking distance to the main dining spots, the ferry terminal, and the local sights.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for those looking to stopover in Stykkishólmur.
P.S. - the chapel in the hotel can be a place of calm solitude for travelers looking to rest their minds.
