VidaMar Resort Hotel Madeira

Location is ideal, easy to walk to downtown or use local buses. Staff very warm and welcoming. Outdoor pools are salt water from the ocean.

Not a big issue for me, however mattress can be too soft for some, so this is one that perhaps could be addressed.

The hotel facilities were ex cellent. Everything we needed was provided and more.

Nothing. Madeira as a whole is now overdeveloped and everywhere too busy.

Great location, extremely clean and great choices for breakfast.

Staff are very miserable, hardly saw anyone smile and nobody tried to have a conversation with you. Was a very strange atmosphere. Room maid was the only one that ever spoke. Serious lack of entertainment in the evenings or a lively bar. One bar open in the evenings for such a large hotel is madness. Entertainment was a singer 6 nights of the week but had no personality, not lovely upbeat music, very monotone be not worth staying around for. For a 5 star hotel this place lacks any sense of personal attention. There is no pool service unless you walk to the bar and order, no music by the pool, no advertising of pool aerobics and nothing else to entertain during the day. The peaceful view is beautiful but for such a large hotel it is seriously lacking a 5 star service. I would not return to this hotel purely as I would not pay 5 star prices for what I consider maybe a 4 star service at a push.

It was conveniently located. But is a motel and not a hotel. The rooms are accessible from outside and the cars have to parked right in front of the rooms.

The room was smelling of smoke and it was very run down hotel.
