Existence of connecting door to neighbouring room

Amazing building in a wonderful location on the less touristy side of town, thankfully. The room we had was really big with 2 bedroom spaces and 2 bathrooms, as well as a nice living area on the lower level. The showers were very good indeed, and it was handy having the kitchenette area, making it feel more like an apartment than a hotel room. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning was fantastic, which seems to be a rarity for Italy. It was good having the “help yourself” cupboards for bedding, toilet roll, towels etc. I particularly liked the Whatsapp based check-in system, as it was easy to know when our room was available and the key code system allowed for our party to easily split up.

I’ll preface this by saying that I have submitted a formal complaint, but it has been dealt with well and we have been offered a partial refund on our stay: We had a few small inconveniences that unfortunately spiralled into major issues as a result of the hotel being “staffless.” The lockers were the biggest problem. We left our luggage there at the beginning of our check-in day and returned in the evening to find that one member of our party had had his locker disabled as a result of presumably another guest putting in the wrong code too many times. At 11.30pm it took over 2 hours to get this opened through the Whatsapp line who eventually got someone from security to stop by. We didn’t go to bed until 1.30am as a result. Had there been someone knowledgable on site, this wouldn’t have been any more than a slight hiccup. The wifi also was offline for over 24 hours during our stay. Due to the way the buildings are in Florence, there was no phone signal either, so wifi is more of a necessity than it would ordinarily be. We also had an email sent to us at 8.20am one morning to say that fire inspections would be taking place THAT DAY from 9am. A morning we were intending to have a later start. A bit more warning would have been nice.
