Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz

The location was very good, in the center of the old town. The staff was superfriendly and gave a lot of information. We liked the little balcony of the room. Breakfast was really good and freshly made.

Our room was located on the 5th floor, just underneed the reception/bar area. Some noise disturbance was noticeable. Next time we will ask a room on another floor.

Great location, quiet as our room faced over an inner courtyard. I can’t comment on the breakfast as we chose to eat in a nearby cafe. Interesting check in process as reception is on the 6th floor. Nice to be offered a welcome drink upon arrival.

Everything was fine

We really enjoyed our stay overall. The hotel has an excellent location in the Old Town, within walking distance of the main railway station. There are also tram and bus stops very close by, which makes getting around very convenient. Our room had a balcony with beautiful views, and it was surprisingly peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was genuinely very good, with plenty of options and good quality food. I’m not much of a sweet-breakfast person, so I was really happy to see porridge and fresh berries on offer. The customer service was also a very positive surprise. Everyone we interacted with was extremely friendly, welcoming, and pleasant.

Unfortunately, the biggest downside was the temperature in the room. It was very hot, even though the cooling system was set to -2°C with the fan on level 3. The cooling system simply didn’t seem to work well enough. At night, it was so warm that we were sweating, and even during the day it was cooler outside than inside the room. Luckily, we had a balcony, so we were able to air out the room before going to bed, which helped somewhat.

The noise levels from the street was very, very loud and intrusive. Loud shouting until 4am then the cleaning machines started at 6am followed by the church bells at 7am. Very hard to get much sleep. Having the reception on the 6th floor in the bar is quirky but not ideal.
