Yara Galle Fort

What a fantastic hotel and location. Inside the fort with a short stroll to the western wall for spectacular sunsets. The hotel, staff and food was nothing short of superb. Perfect place to recoup at after a 26 day 1,588km tuktuk drive, 30km train ride and 336km of car rides. Not bad when we hole up for 3 days a week so my digital nomad wife can work. With only a 117km train ride, 2 nights in Colombo and a 34km car ride to the airport we say YES we have seen Sri Lanka and loved every km of it. Thank you Yara Galle Fort for a memorable stay.

Very soothing stay at what appears to be a traditional style home with a beautiful courtyard and a comforting vibe. It is right at the beginning of the Galle Fort, so you can come in and out of it without dealing with the inner narrow crowded roads, especially if you have a car, which you can park right outside the accomodation. The tourist spots are within walking distance, and the staff is very helpful with all your needs. They even accommodated for our vegan preference and made a mushroom based fried rice. We were lucky to see the moon right from the courtyard and have long chats at night (though trying our best to be quiet for other guests), it was truly amazing. The internet was quite good, we were able to attend some work meetings, though the place really demands you to sit back and enjoy. Looking back, Fort Galle is quite beautiful and an amazing place for taking in the vibes, going on photo walk, and enjoying vegan meals (there are quite a few places).

The bathroom layout was a bit wonky, and the shower pressure was unreliable.

The accommodation was clean and very well located in the Fort area. Decoration was tasteful and the staff was welcoming. I would stay again.

Our room was next to the hotel workers space so we could hear them talking in the morning. Probably other rooms are better in that sense.
