Aside from golf, Santee offers lots of outdoor recreation opportunities. Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie are connected by a canal, making the area ideal for fishing, boating and exploring swamps. Several other attractions are worth a visit.
- Santee National Wildlife Refuge: Take a wilderness trek at the refuge where wildlife thrives. Ducks, geese, raptor birds and alligators live in the natural habitat. Visitors can hike trails, view educational exhibits and capture photos at observations areas.
- Santee South Carolina State Park: Explore this expansive park that covers 2,496 acres. It's a hotspot for fishing and the location of several fishing tournaments.
- Palmetto Trail: Hike South Carolina's biggest pedestrian and bike path, which will run from the mountains to the shores of Santee once completed. Twelve miles of trail are available for hiking in Santee.
