Hotel is tired

All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and they were happy to tailor it to exactly what we wanted. A lovely room to have breakfast in - you can enjoy anything from a full English breakfast to cereal, yoghurt, fruit. Parking was available right opposite the hotel for £2.50 a day. Sunday's are free and we managed to get a free spot on the hotel's limited parking for the third day. Decent bus links to the city and Metro Centre. (It's a 35 minute walk downhill but suggest the bus for coming back!)

We booked a "standard king room with city view". We got 2 single beds pushed together (which was fine) but as I'm over 6 ft, I spent my sleeping hours with both feet sticking out of the end of the bed. And we were on the opposite side to the city view, overlooking the outdoor smoking area. The room itself was a little tired but everything functioned as it should.

Decent breakfast, though a little stodgy and over priced. Room was nice, though no fan. Bed was comfy, but the duvet too thick for summer months.

Location. Close to my son and the A1.

Very, very dated. Desperately in need of an upgrade. I can see that some areas, such as bathrooms, have been refurbished. No lifts. The stair carpets were dirty and the stairwells smelt really damp. Bedroom was clean but again very dated carpets and furniture.
