Lovely rural location. Great pub. Comfortable bed
This is no reflection on the staff who are great and were very hospitable during our stay. However following our night’s stay when we arrived for breakfast we were ushered over to the far side of the pub because we had a dog. The table wasn’t laid for breakfast so we had to hunt around for cutlery and then we had quite a way to go to the buffet breakfast area. Whilst I quite understand that some guests may not want dogs in the breakfast room which is fine we could have been sat on a table just outside the main breakfast area where the tables were laid ready for breakfast/dining and we were in sight of the buffet breakfast table.

My chalet room outside the main building was clean and comfortable, very quiet with a nice rural view. The bar / restaurant was very busy at 6pm on a Friday so I guess it is a popular place. However there was still free seating available both inside and out - there is a pleasant garden area. The receptionist was quick and efficient. Access to Newcastle town centre by car is very easy, just 10 minutes or so, and there was available free parking despite hosting an event that night.
Breakfast service was a bit average. There were no coffee cups, crockery or cereal bowls available at the buffet when I arrived and after a 5 minute wait I had to go and find someone in the kitchen to provide. Another table was also waiting. The poached eggs in Eggs Benedict looked fried to me and were not runny.
