Penny Hedge, Whitby by Marston's Inns

The staff are lovely and very helpful. The restaurant was welcoming, clean and tidy. We had wvening meal and the lasagne was lovely, the steak was a little disapointing but its not a steak house so can't complain. The staff were well presented. The linen was clean and the room was spacious.

The room was a bit expensive as it needs decorating but also if guests don't respect it what can you do, paid £125 feel £90 would of been adequate.

A perfectly adequate room and very pleasant, helpful staff. The evening meals were very good. The room price and food prices were good value. The free parking was much appreciated, and there were bus stops nearby allowing us to go into town without the hassle of finding a parking space (which are expensive in Whitby).

The shower was over a bath which had very high sides. As an elderly person I had great difficulty getting into and out of the bath. Unsuitable for any with limited mobility. There is no lift and our room was on the first floor, with 17 stairs up which to lug our cases; however, due to a problem with the electronic door lock (flat battery) a young lady from reception arrived and kindly helped with this. I believe accessible rooms are provided but they were unavailable for our stay. The breakfast was rather disorganised and food quality variable from morning to the next.

Quiet. Convenient.

No drawers in the room. Nowhere to put cases. A few hangers but thereafter the floor! The restaurant at breakfast is very confusing on the menu.
