The welcome by staff and locals made us feel at home straight away. The food and beer is fantastic as is breakfast. Location feels llike you are in the middle of the countryside but it is only a short taxi ride to the centre of Whitby.

The shepherds huts were quiet, clean and well presented.
The breakfast was unbelievably good. If I’m honest the best breakfast I’ve ever had.
Staff were hardworking and proud( quite rightly) of their achievements.
Only one small thing. It would be great to have bedside tables and lamps in the room.

I stayed in a shepherd's hut for the experience. I would stay in the Inn again, but next time in an upstairs room , as they are ensuite. The shepherd's hut was very basic, but very clean. Minimalist is probably the word. if you want the shepherd's hut experience, then this is for you. The bar is very lively and it is quite a walk into Whitby, but there is a footpath.
Walking across the garden for the toilet and shower. Not really me. Just one of each for 4 huts. Having said that I never waited for either. Both were clean.

Great location with lovely views, room was pleasant with enough storage space, had a key to come and go.
On check in we were not told about food stopping at 5pm on Sundays, breakfast was at 9 - 10 (too late for working people). No guide to Wifi or the property (including safety information e.g. fire instructions). No toiletries for bath (we had our own).
I suggest accommodation is not number one priority, although food and pub was busy and is geared to tourists (e.g. late breakfast).
I think they are missing a trick here with local hotels above the price point and would suggest:
Welcome/information pack for rooms and accommodation
Wifi information
better communication of mealtimes and arrangements
Toiletries for bath
