The owners, Ubaldo and Elvira Hernández, are charming, hardworking people. Elvira speaks good English but is in Guat City for work during the week. They brought us coffee and breakfast or baked goods in the morning and evening and cheerfully accommodated my need to keep some meds refrigerated in their house. The location is close to the umbrella street that leads up from the docks in San Juan. It is a short walk to other attractions, like the cemetery and the church and the sombrero street and its street art. Ubaldo has a tuk tuk and can take you on a tour for a fee. He arranged our ride to Guat City at the end of our stay. Elvira is a physical therapist and former English teacher. She originally planned to make this house into a PT clinic, so it has two rather bizarre concrete hyrdothrapy basins on the patio. The beds are new, clean, and comfortable. There is a warm water shower. Comfortable couches and a hammock to use. The experience of getting to know the hosts made the whole stay worth while. Good wifi.

This is not a hotel!!! It can best be described as an air BnB under development. Three BR and two sort of baths. The facilities are barely adequate. The side facing the lane is boarded up. No stove, fridge, or microwave,or sink in the kitchen. No mirrors. No A/C or fans. No hot water at the the bathroom sink. Junk in the house and yard. They charged us a hotel price of over $100/night, possibly because we were there right after Holy Week, peak season in Guate. We liked it because it felt like our old Peace Corps days and because the owners are so nice and so enterprising. But be clear on what you are getting. No name on the "hotel". We could only find it because Ubaldo came and got us at the tuk tuk stand near the dock after we called.
