It was our first trip to the Douglas/Saugatuck area. The property is nicely situated, tucked away in a little cul de sac away from the bustle of the waterways but really close to everything. Very homey and comfortable. Lots of outside sitting areas including one with a fire pit. Wildlife in abundance! Will definitely stay again.

Very cozy cottage; tucked away and very quiet.

We enjoyed our stay. It’s a super quick drive to Douglas Beach which we enjoyed over Oval. Less crowded with easier and free access. There’s lots to do around town for families all within 5-10 min drive. The outdoor area is very nice with multiple seating areas and a nice fire pit area. As an older home it does have a distinct smell that we got used to but smelled it on our belongings once we got home. There were also multi spiders and other bugs in and around the home. Doesn’t bother everyone but my kids did not approve of that! The house was very quiet and was stocked with what we needed.

Quaint little cottage with everything you need for a little getaway. It’s very private, surrounded by greenery, and the wildlife is spectacular!!! Will come back and try to stay at same place!!!

This beautiful cottage had amazing outdoor spaces. The recliners on the screened-in porch were by far our favorite. Well equipped, well maintained, clean... it is a perfect place for a short stay near Douglas and Saugatuck. There was a lot of communication (too much) about check out time but other than that, it was a perfect experience.

Our stay at Little Stuga was perfect. A charming cottage that fulfilled our vacation getaway needs. Would rebook this property for a future visit to Saugatuck/Douglas.

This is a nice property in a great neighborhood. Close to Saugatuck and Douglas, but still affording privacy. The cottage is cozy and does have that typical cottage “mustiness”, but was very clean and everything we needed was available. Would prefer a regular coffee pot over Keurig.

Enjoyed the relaxing on this quiet property close to shopping and beach. Nice location, nice property.

Excellent location and loved sitting on the porch. Unfortunately the property was not clean on check in. Sand on the bedroom floors, clothes under the bed and lots of bugs, cobwebs and duets in corners. Etc.

Really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings while sitting outside in the various well designed areas. The fireplace in the living room was nice on a chilly morning and the front porch was
great for gathering and eating. The outdoor shower was a fun surprise! Great location and nicely stocked with basic supplies. Would definitely return !

My husband and I were looking for an escape from the city for a long weekend. I booked Little Stuga on a whim after seeing the photos and reading the reviews…and it exceeded every expectation! The house is nestled in so privately that you forget you’re SO CLOSE to everything Saugatuck and Douglas have to offer! With all of the outdoor seating, fire pit, and indoor gas fireplace, this cottage is perfect a perfect escape for any weather. Excellent bird watching if you’re into it!! For constructive feedback, my ONLY thought is that there is a Keurig for coffee, I didn’t see an actually coffee pot. We’re very big on sustainability, so we brought our coffee press and avoided using the pods. But that’s it. Literally everything else was perfect and we will be back!

Little Stuga is a charming cottage that will let you enjoy all the pleasures of Lake Michigan and the surrounding areas. The cottage is secluded, yet is incredibly convenient to Oval Beach, Mt. Baldhead, the bike paths, good restaurants, kayaking, and hiking. With all the beautiful outdoor spaces at the cottage itself, it is also a wonderful place to relax and unwind.

We loved staying at Little Stuga.
We loved staying at Little Stuga. It seemed very private, but was very convenient to the beach, the restaurants, the bike paths and the shops. We really enjoyed the fire pit and the screened-in porch and the lovely outdoor spaces. I really didn’t interact with anyone except through the emails and one phone call. I’d call that a good thing that I did not have to contact the team because the instructions were clear and they let us enjoy our vacation!

We absolutely loved our stay In this quaint little cottage. It was clean and well kept and had all the little touches that you appreciate in a rental. The town is lovely as well. It was just what our little family needed. We would love to come back again soon.

A perfect change of scenery
We were very pleased with this property. It had everything we needed, including a well-equipped kitchen, plenty of space for two adults to relax (we especially loved the screened-in porch), modern conveniences and a short drive to the beach, Douglas and Saugatuck. Although near others, it was quiet. Overall, the property was clean; it needed a little airing out once we arrived and the bathroom floors could use a hard clean. The dishwasher and washer/dryer were nice to have on-site. I would add that attractions are not walk-able, driving is required to reach beaches and Douglas/Saugatuck. We plan to rent again next year.

Comfortable Cottage
We really enjoyed our stay. The outdoor spaces at this cottage do not disappoint! Saw hummingbirds every day. The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked every night and used the grill several times - so nice having plenty of propane on site and also fire wood for the fire pit. Really appreciated having plenty of toilet paper and soap, the washer/dryer, and all the thoughtful touches, such as lots of clothing hooks. The cottage was overall very cute and surface-level clean when we arrived. We did a bit of extra cleaning, such as under the beds and the inside of the oven, and did see some old mouse droppings — but saw no active pests while there. All the spaces are quite comfortable. It seems like someone may have had a cat in the cottage at some point, the living room rug had a slight odor. We had a few little hiccups early on that needed attention or fixing; we recommend calling the rental company, they resolved issues quickly. The outdoor shower was a hit, as was the screened-in porch dining/lounge area, and Adirondack chair circle for evening fire and morning coffee. The nearby Douglas Beach is sadly closed for repairs due to erosion, but we had a good time at 4 other beaches in the area. We would return to Little Stuga!

Such a lovely house in a perfect location
We loved this house so much. We come up to Saugatuck/Douglas every summer and we were in unanimous agreement that, of all the houses we've rented, this was our favorite. It's charming inside and out. We loved being walk-able to Oval Beach via an easy trail in the woods; being walk-able to the chain ferry; still walk-able to Saugatuck's downtown. There are 4 separate outdoor areas for the house, and each one was perfect and charming and offered bird songs and chipmunk sightings. We loved the outdoor shower and hammock.
Despite only having 2 bedrooms for 2 teens and one adult, it worked out. One teen found the loft area and had private time to IM with friends and play computer games while the other teen enjoyed the living area and the adult enjoyed the screened in front porch and the outside areas. We were so happy with the 2 bathrooms and the mudroom/dressing area outside of the powder room.
This was just the perfect house for a visit to Saugatuck/Douglas and we hope to return next year. Thank you for creating such a welcoming house!

Little Stuga
We actually really enjoyed the location of this quaint cabin. The fact that it was in the middle of the woods was an amazing surprise. The fire pit was awesome as was the outdoor shower and just the general quiet and seclusion. The only thing that we didn’t like as much was that the home was quite musty and the couch could really use replacing. I think my 4 yr old was the only one that dared to sit on it. We came home and had to do laundry all over again due to mustiness. We really appreciated the bottled water that someone had left in the fridge after traveling all the way from Chicago we were quite Thursday. We like that a lot of the basics in the home were covered Such as toilet paper and hand soap and dish soap etc.

Saugatuck vacation
Our family had a terrific time at the cottage. It was small but there was ample room for our two late teenage boys and my husband and I to spread out and enjoy the house, the porch and the surrounding sitting areas. The house was immaculate and well stocked and located perfectly for access to the downtown area and Oval Beach. We would certainly recommend it to our friends!

Loved Little Stuga
This property is beautifully maintained. There are many different spaces outside, and the outdoor shower was fabulous. The inside was well-maintained and clean and had everything we needed. It was also in a terrific location for getting to Saugatuck and Douglas town centers and also going to Oval Beach. We would definitely stay again.

Cute, wonderful and relaxing!
This was the perfect place to stay in the Douglas/Saugatuck area an we are planning to come back next! From the moment you drive up, the house and the yard setting give you a sense of tranquility and put you in vacation mode. The house, while compact, is laid out very nicely and we were able to share it with another couple without tripping over each other. I liked how the orginal cabin architecture has been retained along with the wood floors, stone chimney and period-accurate new windows. The outside was even more a delightful suprise as there are three patio areas where you can sit under broad trees and read, sun, dine or enjoy the fire pit. We had to use the outdoor shower after our Lake beach run and that felt so summer cottage-like. We were able to efficiently make dinners and breakfasts in the kitchen an all the appliances were modern along with the cabinets. I would highly recommend this! PS, my wife doesn't these comments to flood this wonderful place with so many reservations next, that we won't be able to snag one again, haha.
