Located in Sarasota, this charming house for $371 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. The House of MacGregor This beautiful Italianate-style 2-story home was built in 1925 during the John Ringling era. It is a rare find, nestled in the quiet, peaceful neighborhood of the Central Cocoanut Historic District and listed on the local registry of historic homes. The house has been lovingly restored and retains many of its original features. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and will accommodate up to 7 people. Three of the bedrooms (king, queen, and double) are on the second floor and one bedroom (twin) is on the first floor with a private workspace with desk. There is a fully-equipped kitchen and laundry room, a large, open-air front porch, a back deck and a privately fenced patio with a charcoal/gas grill. Sarasota is an international destination known for its fine, crystal white beaches with magnificent sunsets, and its love for the arts with numerous live theaters, opera, and museums. You will find great local fare in restaurants ranging from casual outside cafés to fine dining. Here you are located close to everything Sarasota has to offer. Just minutes from the Sarasota night life, a short walk across the street to Whitaker Gateway Park on Sarasota Bay, 3.5 miles to the beaches, 3 miles to St Armands circle, and a few blocks from downtown restaurants and shopping. A must see is the John Ringling Museum located just 4 miles north on Tamiami Trail. The sprawling grounds of banyan trees and rose gardens has sweeping views of the bay and Ca' d'Zan, the home built by John Ringling for his wife Mabel. A Publix grocery store is just 4 short blocks away. And of course the Gulf of Mexico is the crowning allurement of this cultured city. Anything is available for your enjoyment, from lazy days on Siesta Key Beach (voted the #1 beach in the US), to rentals of boats, kayaks, and jet skis, to full days of offshore fishing. We so enjoyed this spacious comfortable home with large windows and best porch! The home has everything to enjoy cooking, grilling, or just hanging out on a large side backyard. The house is a very livable center for activity in the Sarasota area. It is close to town and just off major arteries to the beaches. It is close to a Publix and a great all-day restaurant. Inside it has the character of an older home and all the amenities needed. Peggy has stocked it with basic necessities you may not have thought to bring and has beach equipment galore for your use. As great a home base for exploring the area as the house it, it is a place to settle in to and relax reading a book on one of the rockers on the front porch.
Peggy was there for us at all times with inside information and was very flexible with our changing travel situation. Thanks, Peggy.

Enjoyed our stay
House met our basic needs. Property manager was very responsive to a couple of minor issues. Beds were comfortable. Convenient to downtown Sarasota and Bradenton area golf courses. Road noise from US 41 was noticeable in one bedroom. Spacious back patio.

We were unable to make it to the property in time to grab necessities but she made certain that we had everything that we needed for our morning coffee ect and it was greatly appreciated. The home is absolutely gorgeous and the location was perfect. I am an avid runner and there were so many options and routes around the property. We enjoyed the short walk to downtown and certain to return soon. Everything was perfect and we had no issues whatsoever. My nephew enjoyed the bikes and the beach umbrellas were put to use daily. Great location
We are a group of 6 adults...house worked well for us. We liked the location as we could walk to a number of restaurants, parks, shopping etc. We especially enjoyed the front porch to gather and enjoy Sarasotas great weather. We had a great time for two weeks at this house!

Our Week in Sarasota
We had a very pleasant stay this week. The house was very much as listed, clean and everything we needed worked well. The location was very convenient to every whet we wanted to go and Peggy supplied us with a load of brochures covering all of the points of interest. Peggy met us at the house the day we arrived and quickly got us oriented. Our only disappointment was that we had hoped for a more in town neighborhood feel to the immediate area. All in all a great trip and stay.

Southern Charm
This 4 br 3 ba immaculate 1935 home was perfect for our needs. With 4 adults and 2 children we had plenty of room to spread out including the huge patio. It was fully furnished from the coffee pot to the beach toys. Peggy was a dream to work with responding to text messages immediately. Walking 1 mile to downtown Sarasota was a pleasure and the short drive to Lido beach and the aquarium was great. We can’t wait to come back again next year!

wonderful place for group or family
My husband and I stayed here with our 20-year old daughter and two of her friends for nearly a week in early January 2020. The house is a delight -- full of special beach-themed touches, harmonious decor and comfortable furniture. Our girls could walk to the local Publix, make cookies late in to the night, and enjoy their own tv and game space, while we slept peacefully upstairs. With everything you'll need by way of chairs, towels and coolers, it was really easy to go to the beaches and to have picnics watching the sunset on the bay from the park just across the road. And fixing meals was also easy -- a cupboard full of spices, lots of cooking equipment and a choice of indoor and outdoor spaces for dining. If you like staying in a place that provides a sense of history (while being comfortable, too), you'll love this house.

House is as advertised. Full of light with garden area and front porch. Near downtown and Publix. Owner is responsive and could not be more helpful. Marked as 4 star only because there is building work going on nearby that could be noisy and disruptive, advise to check with owner on the situation.

Relaxing
We had an amazing stay in this beautifully restored home. Peggy was there to greet us on arrival showed us the basics of the home. The kitchen was well stocked, many spices and condiments were already there so check before going to the market, as well as dishwasher detergent dish soap and laundry detergent, we had packed small amounts of each but didn't need to. There are also beach towels, beach chairs and coolers available for use during your stay. We loved the Sarasota and surrounding beach communities, highly recommend this home for vacation.
