It’s boundaries include Durango, South St. Mary’s, Eagleland and the San Antonio River. Our lovely district encompasses land that once belonged to the Mission San Antonio de Valero, more commonly known as the Alamo. The area was divided and laid out in its modern day lots in the 1860s. Around this time, the area was largely populated by German immigrants, who built the impressive homes we see today, in Greek Revival, Victorian, and Italianate styles. While the area fell out of favor in the early 20th century, it once again gained in popularity around the 1950s. In 1968, the King William neighborhood became San Antonio's first designated historic district. In 1972, it was listed as a National Register Historic District. The King William neighborhood is characterized by a unique mix of vintage homes and historic mansions, providing a feast for the senses. We are proud to call some of San Antonio’s most beautiful and historic homes our neighbors. And while the whole city of San Antonio is right at your fingertips, you’ll find plenty to do right in the neighborhood. We’re proud of our beautiful scenery! Take a stroll through King William Park, home to a picturesque gazebo, palm trees and walking paths to explore. For an inspiring, interactive stroll, consider Chris Park at Ruby City, which opened in 2005. It features a stone walkway running throughout the park embedded with fifty-five LED lights that shine at night and resemble constellations. Benches with inscriptions offer a place to reflect or write. While you’re there, don’t miss the opportunity to tour Ruby City, a contemporary art center providing space for the city’s creative community. It offers both an extensive contemporary art collection and beautiful architecture. And it’s free! Down the street, stop in at Blue Star Contemporary and take your time wandering through its most recent exhibition. If all the strolling works up an appetite, you’ve got plenty of choices nearby. Hungry for lunch or brunch on the weekends? Try Liberty Bar, offering a vast menu of favorites, from custard French toast and huevos benedictinos. The bread and butter before your meal is not to be missed! Hot Joy brings the ramen experience to a whole new level. Filled with murals, art hanging from the ceiling and LED signs, it is difficult to find a more unique spot. Themed cocktails pair beautifully with their delectable meal offerings. Enjoy a yummy snack (even the pooch is invited!) at the aptly-named The Friendly Spot, with its nachos, sandwiches, and cookies. For a special occasion meal, make your reservations at Maverick Texas Brasserie (a San Antonio Magazine Best Restaurants winner). If you simply need to satisfy a sweet tooth, don’t miss Boozy’s Creamery & Craft, which offers alcohol-infused and regular ice cream in delicious flavor combos, or Cinnaholic for absolutely decadent vegan cinnamon rolls topped with a variety of sweets. Property manager was responsive to questions and concerns and very helpful and cordial. The location was perfect! The home was warm and comfortable. I only have two negative comments--The property is advertised as a 6 BR home. The 6th bedroom is an extension of a 5th bedroom with a door between the two rooms. It has a pullout bed that extends to the dimension of the entire room, leaving no room for walking or any furniture, or even a space to park luggage. This room, and other bedrooms do not have curtains on windows. Other than the fact that we were counting on 6 bedrooms, it was a delightful space and I can't say enough how helpful the property manger was with the 110" projector screen (which was incredibly technical and a challenge to use, even for those of us who are tech savvy).

Beautiful home with plenty of rooms. This home had a large dining area perfect for large gatherings. A nice modern touch is the large projector screen in the living room. Although the weather didn't permit, the pool area would definitely be enjoyable during the warmer months. In addition, the location of this house is in walking distance from a number of great restaurants and a short drive from downtown. Hillary is a great host with good communication and quick to ensure that our stay was well.

We came to celebrate two friends turning 50. We were a group of 10 women and we had a wonderful weekend! I have a few comments on our stay: Pros: comfortable beds, charming historic neighborhood, great location. Our host, Hillary, was very responsive and quick to answer questions. Cons: there was only 1 great shower. Two tubs just had a hand-held spray nozzles and the other shower (on the main level) had very weak pressure. There weren’t enough coffee cups and wine glasses (only 5 wine glasses). The wine opener was terrible (a cheap, easy fix but frustrating for us). The AC upstairs worked great (where most of the beds are) but the main level was quite hot at night and was uncomfortable for sleeping. The front door lock didn’t work properly the first two days, but Hillary was able to let us in remotely, when needed. The backyard was too dark at night. Outdoor lights would have added a lot to our ability to be outside at night. Several of the lights didn’t work inside (or we couldn’t figure out where the switches were). The large movie screen/tv projector system in the living room was complicated and we couldn’t figure out the volume. A regular tv would be SO much easier and better. Overall, the charm of this old, historical house was lovely and the layout was functional for a large group. Hillary, the manager, was perfectly attentive. I would stay here again.

We loved the Location~ You can rent scooters and get everywhere! Tons of restaurants in walking distance! House was Great Size for our family needs and backyard was perfect for us. Only complaint was~ All Towels were in washer when we got there~ one bed was missing all bedding~ no toilet paper~ out of tons of stuff that we had to purchase like dish detergent, laundry detergent, trash bags, etc and owner had people working on pool and coming to bring linens and tp etc the whole time we were there... could have been prepared a little better for our stay. Still enjoyed it!

We were a family of 12 ranging in age from 5 months to 65. The house is situated in a quiet neighborhood, within walking distance of the Riverwalk. The accommodations were very comfortable, with plenty of room for everyone. There was even a pack and play for the infant. The grandchildren really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking some meals at home, and this is actually the first place I’ve ever stayed that has decent cooking pans. Most places are all scratched and worn. Manager, Hillary was wonderful to work with, and quickly handled any questions or concerns we had. I loved that a detailed manual of how everything is operated is emailed before your trip for handy reference. Hopefully we will someday return to San Antonio.
