Everything here was excellent! The staff were super friendly and welcoming. A safe feeling space for all. I love that there are two bars downstairs that are open late, and while they are really busy, the rest of the hotel was super quiet. The neighborhood is beautiful and walkable with a variety of wonderful food and drink options. The desk staff were helpful in every way in their recommendations for things to do in the area.
I lived in the Bmore area for many years, and my friend travelling with me had never been to the area--we were both amazed and delighted with the hotel and the surrounding area. A great spot for access to anything in the city, yet a lot quieter than staying in the downtown.
The only item of note is that on this website it notes Valet parking--the hotel once did that, but now does not. There's a lot less than a block away that's only $16 for 24 hours, in/out access, and it was never full (and we were there on a weekend).
Hundred percent will come back next time I stay overnight in Bmore!

It’s a beautiful place but the rooms have terrible lighting in the main room and the bathrooms. I was there for business and there was no way with the lighting to work.
3.0
The hotel is funky and has charm and the beds are legit comfortable with quality sheets and an actual comforter. But there’s no coffee in the room and none available before 630 am during the week. The room thermostat also is master controlled so it resets every so often. It would always get hot. A fun place to stay with a great bar and location if you’re flexible on coffee and climate control. I’m not.

The hotel is good, the rooms are comfortable, albeit a little on the smaller side. The entire hotel has a dark decor, which is quirky. One main thing that was missing was a wardrobe, which is fine if you're staying for 1-2 nights, but for a longer stay, it was difficult to organize clothes.

Room was very clean... and very small. No fan or window in the bathroom. Windows in the room did not open. Bummer.

All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The cocktail bar was excellent and Tuesday night jazz was a nice surprise! Love the attention to detail in decor. Only minor complaint is the room was kind of stuffy. But overall incredible place, would come back and recommend!

Very interesting hotel with unique decor and design elements. Clean and comfortable room would only suggest adding a floor lamp for add illumination when needed. The hotel staff was friendly; however, the service in the restaurant/bar was slow even when it wasn't packed.

Convenient location. Cozy room with nice staff.highly recommend.

Ulysses is truly an edifying experience. Built in the early 20th century, it has been recently restored to duplicate the Gilded Age style from its furnishings, to detailed appointments such as subtle lighting, upholstery and the lovely canopy bed. It recognizes the importance that beauty in design and concept had in that historic era.
All else was wonderful, including the professionalism and courtesy of the staff.

Front desk help was amazing. A fun hotel in a fun neighborhood.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The only complaint we had was that the room was WAY too hot for comfortable sleep. It was February, and the heat SAID it was set for 60, but the room itself was 76. If you like it hot, you'll love it there in the winter! If you like it cool, you might not love the climate. Individual room temps cannot be controlled by guests.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. It's a quirky, comfortable, friendly place with a fabulous bar and beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended.

Great weekend getaway in Baltimore. The hotel itself and the staff were both fantastic. The rooms and the bars all have an excellent vibe.

The hotel is fine. The problem is parking. We assumed the $16 overnight charge would be added to the bill. We were given a notice to display on the dashboard. We were not told that we had to pay at an automatic kiosk we didn't see until morning. At about 11:30 Sunday we found a ticket on the car for $48. Unacceptable.

Stay was great and service was impeccable. Fantastic location but the room was itty-bitty and poorly designed for space utilization.

The pros: comfortable bed, good location, Ash Bar.
Everything else, big disappointment. Reviewers leaving 10/10 must have had a very different room and experience. First night, I thought there must have been a night club across the street. Figured out it was the room next door --loud music late. Called desk at 12:45 a.m. and was assured they would contact the room. Waited another 1.5 hours. Called back. It was 2:30 a.m. before anyone went to the room. Thermostat in my room was set to 76, located in the coolest part of the room near the door. Room was SO HOT. Thermostat can't be adjusted by guest. I asked it to be adjusted 3 times. Never happened; hot air from a noisy fan. Queen room is VERY small. Walk space on either side of the bed, and not much else. I stay at POD and Moxy, but those properties with small rooms have common areas where you can hang out. Not the Ulysses. I ended up chilling in the lobby of the Revival Hotel a couple blocks away because the room was too small/hot. Very dim lighting, even when you figure out how to turn it up. No work space/too dim anyway. Shower head cheap, low pressure, tiles grimy around the bottom. Toilet clogged on first morning; embarrassing/inconvenient. I thought about canceling day 2, but I had paid a nonrefundable rate. No eye contact or questions about my stay at check out, just "Wait...All set." (None of this pertains to Ash Bar where the food, drinks, and service were great.) Hotel is style over service. (My first poor rev. ever.)

We enjoyed our stay at Ulysses. Everything was clean and I love how the decor is not your boring sterile white hotel decor. It has a lot of charm. There are a lot of great restaurants right around this area. Great experience, would book again!

stylistically, it's great. and for the price, it's good value. bed was comfortable, room was quiet, it was a comfortable stay. however, the rooms are super dark and the service was a bit lacking. at check in, it wasn't pointed out to me that the wifi password was on the inside of the envelope holding the room key and the newspaper in the room didn't mention needing a password. the staff also didn't mention which door to use to get in late-night and the door was very difficult to open. there was also no one at the desk when i arrived or when i wanted to check out.

I was there for an NFL game, so my mood was pretty good. I decided to drink a beer at the bar after an 8 hour trip to get there.
There was happy hour by the time I sat by the bar, so I asked the bartender if happy hour was 2x1 to which he replied yes. So I asked if I could combine 2 different beers and obviously pay for the most expensive one, he looked weird at me but said yes. By the time I asked for the check I could see that I got charged for both, so I asked the bartender why I was being charged for both and then he said that one of them wasn't on the happy hour and the happy hour didn't work like that. That it was just some beers for a cheaper price than normal. I told him he could have told me that from the beginning. I then went to say to the manager that I just wanted him to tell their staff to inform customers properly.
I went to the bar to finish my beer and then I realised the bartender spoke spanish since he was rude enough to tell me if I was familiaised with a saying (quite insulting)
So I told him in spanish that he of course had to be a young and uneducated jerk.
No more than 2 minutes after that, the manager comes to me and asks me if I called his bartender names, so I said yes.
After that, without letting me explain he just told me to leave the bar and that I was lucky to not get kicked out. Don't give these jobs to people who can't handle them. I've never had a bad experience in a hotel before in more than 20 years traveling around the world.

The property was close to where I was visiting.
Key cards worked properly.
One elevator was very fast.
7th floor was fairly quiet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Ulysses did not have my room ready.
Room was smaller than expected.
Room very dark.
Spotty cell phone service.
No coffee in room.
No refrigerator
HVAC did not work correctly
Temp of water was inconsistent.
Carrying luggage up two flights of stairs was painful.
Ice machine was 7 floors away.
No snacks available.

Lobby is dark, day and night. The front desk person uses a tiny light to be able to read your credit card when checking in.
Elevator is always dark. One colleague though someone was in the elevator with her when going up to her room after checking in.
Turned out to be her reflection in the mirror. Too dark to see.
Rooms are dark with 2 little bed side lamps. One other light hanging from the ceiling. None of them provide decent lighting... That is when they work. The light switches in the room and bathroom are frustrating.
If you like your hotel to look like you're in a dark Vegas night club, this is the hotel theme for you.
One morning, no hot water. Not one drop. Not a very enjoyable morning shower.
No iron in any of the rooms.
Complimentary breakfast....small fruit cups with yofurt MF granola, some danishes and coffee.
There were 6 of us staying there, everyone had the exact same comments.

My partner and I stayed in one of the suites, which was small but pretty and eclectic. However, a lightbulb didn’t work, the dimming effects weren’t that intuitive, there were obvious scratch marks on the walls and toilet, and the water ran fairly tepid in the bathtub. None of this was a dealbreaker, though, and we still enjoyed the extremely comfy bed and beautiful views during this birthday stay.
Service from hotel and restaurant staff was good, with a bit of a hitch. It snowed the morning we were set to check out and I went down to the restaurant for coffee but found out — after waiting fifteen minutes, two hours into when breakfast service had been scheduled, in an empty but seemingly set up restaurant — that no one had come to work that day. The desk attendant and head of housekeeping were very kind about the situation.
Overall, I’ll definitely come back to visit the bars, but I may think twice before spending the money to rent a suite when the quality doesn’t really match the cost.

I don't want to spoil too much, but there's no hotel like it. Very cool 😎

Cute hotel! The rooms are way too dark, beyond mood lighting it was actually impossible to see anything by the wardrobe.

Room was extraordinarily small and the armoire (no closet) was impractical, though the bathroom was nice and clean. Staff of the hotel were friendly, but bar staff were very off-putting.

Moody and posh while also being cozy and comfortable. Great stay. Brunch at Ash Bar was also nice.

the hotel was amazing and we loved every minute of it, we did have some begging when we walked outside but none more than typical baltimore( lived here for 17 years)

Love the design and vibes of this place. Comfortable with amenities and still stylish!

Stunningly beautiful old hotel with excellent and friendly staff. The feel is that of the classic hotels of the 1920's, complete with bar/restaurant AND a lounge. The surrounding neighborhood is not quite the Amalfi coast, but it IS safe. Great patrons. Everyone clearly having a good time, which is what the Ulysses is all about !!!

This is a hotel I would gladly stay at again and again. The room was small in a cozy way, the bed was arguably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in, and I debated going home with half of the body wash in an water bottle, it smelled so good. The restaurant and cocktail lounge were both wonderful. My only gripe was with the parking. I called to ask about parking, and they recommended "the lot across the street." Be wary of which lot you pick. The two lots visible from the street do not have overnight parking. I had to burn $25 parking in the wrong lots before I found the correct one with overnight parking, and it is not really "across the street." Otherwise, everything was wonderful. The room was beautiful, the view of the city was magnificent, and our little vacation was perfect!

Ulysses is a beautiful hotel. The staff are friendly and accommodating. But there are a few areas that leave us wanting more. For instance, the plumbing is a bit strange. Fluctuating water pressure, slow drains in the sinks (this is consistent across five different stays in five different rooms). You don't have control over your thermostat. Our room was warm, and we could not switch to cooling so we could cool it off.
Skip the restaurant, Ash Bar, as the food is not worth the price you pay. Drinks are fairly small as well.
These are annoying issues, but overall we do love the hotel. It's probably the coolest looking hotel in Baltimore.

Amazing time! Everything was perfect from start to finish. I will be back asap!

Comfortable amenities. The only draw back I would have is the soft lighting. It made the rooms darker.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with unique and stylish features - not to mention the coolest bar and restaurant! From the food, to the staff, to the cozy bed we were so pleased!
