The rooms are small, some are very noisy, from pizza ovens or the street. No ac, the ceiling fan only works with the lights on. The night breeze is enough to cool the room, noise from busy street is anoying.
The location was great, the bed was comfortable.

The Pine Inn was in a great location in Carmel. Easy to walk to the beach and around the cute downtown. The staff were very friendly. No elevator, so you better be able to do stairs and carry belongings up and down them. Parking was easy. Loved staying at the Pine Inn.

The staff was amazing and the location was perfect. The history of the building is really cool. It seems like an update is needed— the lampshades were torn and dingy and the bed was so uncomfortable that neither my husband nor I slept well.

the furniture is pretty old and has a rotten smell. The bedding overall feels clean. good service and prime location

My wife and I stayed at this hotel and loved everything about it. It reminded us of the old hotels in Paris or Rome. Built in 1889 and looks amazing!

The Inn cannot provide enough parking spaces for their guests. Be prepared to deal with the "musical chairs" aspect of parking in Carmel. Other than that, the location is fantastic. We wish we could have spent more time in one of the most beautiful locations in the country.

Good location, no coffee machine in the room, very small crammed room

Room was very small and everything was old— tub/shower in bad condition. Hotel carpeting was old and dirty looking. Convenient location was only plus

Review Title: Challenging Stay Amidst Renovations and Parking Woes
My recent stay at a hotel in Carmel was marred by a couple of significant issues that future guests should be aware of. Firstly, the lack of on-site parking presented a considerable inconvenience from the get-go. Carmel is a charming town, but like many quaint destinations, it struggles with limited public parking options. Guests staying at this hotel should prepare to spend a good amount of time hunting for a parking spot, which is not the ideal start to a relaxing getaway.
Moreover, my hopes for a peaceful weekend retreat were dashed early on Sunday morning. Despite the anticipation of sleeping in and enjoying the serene environment that Carmel is known for, I was rudely awakened at 5 AM by the sounds of ongoing renovations. The loud noises of construction work, including hammering and drilling, were incredibly disruptive. While I understand the need for periodic updates and maintenance, the early timing, especially on a Sunday, seemed inconsiderate and poorly planned.
While the hotel itself boasts some redeeming qualities such as its prime location and potentially charming amenities, these were overshadowed by the parking difficulties and the early morning disturbances. I had looked forward to a tranquil stay, exploring the picturesque surroundings and enjoying undisturbed rest, which unfortunately was not the case.

Location is excellent!

It should be rated a 2star. Old rooms with dirty lamp shades, internet and tv down, no elevator, bed made noise everytime you moved, smelly room. So overpriced for the value. The staff were all very nice.

Very nice historic hotel in downtown Carmel steps from the beach. Only problem we found was that the room was a little cold.

Nice place, quaint and comfortable. Staff was great! Restaurant and cafe onsite. Walk to shops and restaurants in Carmel. Quick to 27 mile and Pebble.

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel and first time (October 2023) was phenomenal. This time (January 2024), not so great. Our reservation wasn’t in the system; the staff was not in a hurry; front desk person just left us standing there. Finally it was found and we got a tiny room in desperate need of a face lift. Later on we got kicked out of the lobby for having a glass of wine. Too bad really. Different hotel next time.

Amazing comfortable bed and the best shower pressure ever. The staff was so friendly and accommodating.

Very noisy, every morning at 7 AM garbage trucks wake up everyone.

Really ne to do something about the kitchen ventalator noise and vibration. Also I must say that a desk person was badmouthing someone they had had contact with in back room while we were standing at checkin...

Lost our reservations, was assigned a room outside the main building with narrow steep staircase. Room furniture inside was old interior, poor lighting in all of the rooms. Very disappointed.

There are some house keeping issues Pine Inn may want to check into:1) The toilet does not flush well. You need to keep your hand on the handle in order to completely flush. 2) Room is too hot even the heating system is set at 0 or1. We had to keep the windows open to cool down the room. One of the windows does not stay up/open. Maybe this is the reason the "exit door" around the corner in the hallway is always open to keep the temperature in the hallway cool. 3)There is a horizontal black pipe hooked to the radiator that runs into the floor. It creates loud banging noise from time to time. Our room is above the restaurant's kitchen. We hear the noise bringing the trash out to the dumpster and being pick up by the garbage truck starting at 7:43 am. We can also hear every motorcycle and car driving by and evert conversation by people walking by. This is the second time we stayed at the Pine Inn. We stayed in a newer room and had no noise and no maintenance issues. The staff are very nice. We hope our comments will help the hotel and the future patrons.

Beautiful lobby. Time to spend some bucks and renovate upstairs.

Lobby was beautiful
Bathroom had 1 plug. Shower faucet was very difficult to operate. Bathroom basically very old and non functional. Bed comfortable but heat non functional as heater was not turned on but heat was coming out and it was uncomfortably warm.

This is a good hotel. Excellent on sight restaurant. It's an older hotel but very well maintained. No major complaints other than room was small. Very quiet. No coffee maker in room and you have to walk across the street to the bakery which is no big deal. Unless you absolutely need coffee first thing in the morning due to your caffeine fixation. Anyway. I recommend.

While the Hotel was built in the 1890's, it has plenty of room, clean, and large comfortable bed. T he ocean view is absolutely magnificent. The hotel staff is cheerful, professional as well as courteous.

Great experience! Clean, festive and aesthetic lobby. Room amenities not completely up to date but it’s an isolated area so the best around, relatively.

The hotel has perfect location but the rooms are old and small. Bathroom is tiny and outdated. The bed we had was not even a queen size even though we paid for a king sized room online. Not impressed.

We have stayed at the Pine Inn several times. It’s a charming yet funky hotel. Love the location. Bathrooms could use some updating. Staff was terrific.

The property was dated. Had no heat so had to ask for a heater. The bathroom was small and so small. Shower wasn’t great.
It was a great view as we had an ocean view.

There was no parking available and the surrounding area was very busy. I asked the staff if they could offer a discount based on the fact that we had to pay for parking elsewhere and was shot down because “I had booked through a 3rd party.” I didn’t realize that people who use a site like Hotels.com get different treatment. Overview, nice, quiet hotel with a lot of history. Walkable to everything, parking was the only challenge

Lovely little inn in the centre of Carmel. The only comment I would have is the bathrooms are very dated

I liked the location near the beach and shopping, very walkable. I did not like the lack of parking on friday and Saturday night. I did not enjoy the antique/ old/ creaky floors, stairs, bed. I did not like the lack of coffee in room or in lobby. The red lobby with fireplace was perfect for reading a book and warming up.
6.0
Great location. Nice staff. Okay, the building is old and the walls are thin. But at the prices they charge, they could/should replace 1/3 of the carpets, do some in-room touch-up painting, and have in-room coffee machines or at least free coffee in the lobby. Felt ripped off and for very petty stuff.
4.0
The Pine Inn has a lot of interesting history. The lobby is decorated in a Victorian style and is charming. Our room could use updating. Unfortunately, this hotel doesn’t have a coffee bar and you’re not allowed to drink wine in the common areas, which would have been nice to be able to sit by the fire and enjoy a glass.
