My 2 sisters and I stayed on the houseboat for our girls trip to Amsterdam. It's in a great location and neighborhood that is close to many key tourist attractions. The boat itself was quite functional and things were clean. We stayed in December so had to crank up the heat as insulation isn't great. The pictures are either of a different but similar boat or represent the boat before a shift in some of the furniture and layout. The queen bed is in a blocked off room with door and couch is different. Communication was pretty good with the management staff and the owner was quick to reply when we were unclear about the hot water (it exists, though doesn't get super hot in the shower). I'd consider staying here again with my family (spouse plus 2 kids).

Houseboat in Amsterdam, what else is there to say?
Host allowed us to check in early, wonderful after an overnight flight. Very nice boat in a fantastic location. Comfortable for myself and two teenagers. Short walk to everything we wanted to see, close enough to come back for a few minutes to recharge. Quiet despite the in-town location.

For our first trip to Amsterdam, this houseboat was perfect! Comfortable, clean accommodations, and everything we needed. Neighborhood is gorgeous - we loved just sitting at home and watching the city go by on the canal. Our host was very responsive and flexible as well. Would definitely stay again!

This houseboat was a nice place to hangout during the day. The shower is absolutely terrible. It’s very dirty. The beds I slept in was at street level so the noise for peopl and motorcycles is rough. The woman managing was very strange. We had 3 guests, and apparently I booked for 2, so she kept coming In unannounced to get “cash”. I also learned from a local that the laws in AMS regarding property rentals are strict. Not sure how much the owners care about the rules or their customers. Overall, dirty, overpriced, in a great location. More of a fort that a house.

I loved experiencing first hand life on a houseboat. I could buy local groceries and eat my breakfast, walk around to see the sites and return home for a simple lunch, nap, then head out for new sights in the afternoon. I hosted friends one night and they loved it too. It does need a new paint job, and bring your own shampoo. I would have liked my host to have written down all the great reccos she said verbally as I was so tired from the flight, I couldn’t remember all she said. But super friendly and responsive. I would definitely recommend.

I recently spent 4 days at the houseboat last week with my teenage daughters. It was a perfect location to explore Amsterdam. The boat was both clean and charming, and the check in process was seamless. I can't wait to go back!

Really, don’t stay here
#1 No- the tally for stay doubled after the cleaning was added in- But we thought it would be really special
#2 No- it wasn’t very clean- the floors left our socks black and the teeny tiny bathroom always smelled bad in a big way
#3 No- the noise from street and canal, round the clock
(it’s Amsterdam), made sleeping impossible, worse of course when neighborhood bars got going
Very sad property, as with some attention from owners (renovating inside and outside), it could be charming. We looked across the canal at a lovely, well-kept houseboat, which made our situation seem even worse
A few more issues- the boat got unbearably warm w windows closed, but if windows were open, mosquitos came in and bit us
When toilet is flushed, it make a loud and prolonged flushing noise, waking up anyone sleeping
The floor of shower is dangerously slippery, esp if you are using soap
The managers who dealt w us on arrival were disorganized and vaguely rude. My partner had been communicating through the VRBO site w manager, who said to alert him when we arrived in Amsterdam. My partner texted several times on arrival, then called 5 times before reaching someone, who said they don’t have time to be looking at VRBO, as they have 150 properties to manage.
There were no toiletries and no welcome book, with houseboat and neighborhood info, both of which we typically find at other vacation rentals
Finally, the day after we arrived, another woman showed up. She asked us what time we were planning on checking out, and when we said noon, she said, “Well, check out is at 11:00, so you’ll need to be out by then.” So why did she even ask?

Boat is on the smaller side but the location is unbeatable. My travel buddy and I stayed here and enjoyed ourselves very much. Front door is a small one so do a few stretches first and you’ll be golden. :)
