Prinsenboat Studio, house boat on the 17th centuary Prinsengracht of Amsterdam
About this docked boat rental
Nestled in Amsterdam, this charming docked boat for $387 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. The Prinsenboat Studio Create a memory of your stay in Amsterdam on board the Prinsenboot that you will cherish forever. We take pride in offering a residence that is warm, inviting, comfortable and romantic. From the first day of your arrival at The Prinsenboat to your last day with us, we will do our utmost to ensure your experience lives up to your expectations. If you are celebrating a special event such as a birthday, anniversary or reunion, we can help make it a unique experience. You will immediately notice the difference between The Prinsenboat Studio and an Amsterdam hotel. Children are thrilled to stay on The Prinsenboat. Maybe even more than adults. They are fascinated by living on a house boat where they can experience life on the water and enjoy watching the waterfowl and passing boats. Ask about our special family prices. The Prinsenboat Studio consists of a very comfortable and romantic Studio of 27m2 from where you have a water view of the historic 17th century Prinsengracht with its patrician houses from the Dutch Golden Age. When opening the large sliding windows you immediately feel the vibrations of the Prinsengracht. The canals were, and still are, fundamental to Amsterdam, of great cultural and historical importance. In 2010, the World Heritage Committee decided to add the 17th century canals area in Amsterdam to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Prinsenboat is located, in the Prinsengracht, in the midst of all this beauty. We had to say goodbye to the old Prinsenboat but we succeeded in building a new Prinsenboat with all modern conveniences; such as floor heating, your own private bathroom with shower, toilet, and wash basin, unlimited free TV with international channels and unlimited free WiFi, Netflix, Spotify, while preserving the old exotic features such as the opium bed and the wood carvings. The location of the Prinsenboat couldn't be more perfect; all major attractions of the city Center are a 10 or 15 minute walk away; Museumplein, Anne Frankhuis, Magere Brug, Hermitage museum, Heineken brewery, the trendy Albert Cuypmarkt, Bloemenmarkt, Waterloopleinmarkt etc. Nightlife is also within walking distance; from the clubs on Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein to the famous Gay Venue street; Reguliersdwarsstraat. No need for a taxi after a night out. The Prinsenboat Studio is part of The Prinsenboat and offers you a private studio of 27 m2 with a breakfast bar with fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, microwave, toaster, cutlery, cups, plates etc. Everything you need for a relaxed breakfast . In our experience, our guests prefer their privacy more than being woken up early in the morning for breakfast. Breakfast is not included. Neither do we provide breakfast items. Unfortunately, the strict rules of the city of Amsterdam prohibit us from having a kitchen in The Prinsenboat Studio, which means that we cannot offer you cooking facilities. You have no stove and no sink. Fortunately, around the corner, in the Utrechtsestraat, there is a wide variety of nice international restaurants. In the nearby, trendy, Albert Cuyp area you will find, next to the street market, also great authentic Surinamese dishes and a wide range of reasonably priced eateries. The sleeping area with an antique king size teak bed, 160 x 2.00m. is separated from the rest of the studio by a large antique wood carved panel from Indonesia. The legs of the bed are huge dragons; chase the dragon (smoking opium) ……… We found it in Indonesia, in what was said, an opium kit. The couch is extendable to a bed of 1.40 x 2.00 m. And is suitable for two persons. The Prinsenboat Studio has a maximum capacity of 4 persons. Wake up in the morning to a spectacular view of the canal of the Prinsengracht, take a walk through Amsterdam, come home at the end of the day in the tranquility of your private studio on the water, relax and watch life on the Amsterdam canals pass by. Experience historic Amsterdam in a very special way; live on the water! Welcome to The Prinsenboat Studio You do not need to bring towels. We provide everything you need. Ask about our special family prices.

The location of Prinsenboat is great, right in the middle of a lovely area with restaurants, bakeries, shops, bars, galore. But the place is part of the owner's house, and you can tell from reading the book he leaves there that he clearly resents having to rent part of his house out and in his "welcome book," he mostly seemed unhappy to have us there, complaining about slamming doors, using too much water or heat or leaving our devices to be charged. I hate to leave negative reviews because I own a VRBO myself, but this is not a great place to stay - it's very small and cold and you have to crawl over each other to get in and out of bed, all of which could be overlooked, but the main issue is that the owner clearly doesn't want people there! I can't recommend it. There are other places to stay in the same neighborhood - I suggest you go for onw of those.

Enjoyed our 5 nights at Prinsen Boat. Close to everything, walk to Ban Gogh Museum and Rijkstad museum… 3 stops on the team to Fam Square. Peter respected our privacy . Very nice all in all

One of the best locations I’ve stayed in Amsterdam. Studio was extremely clean and it was an amazing experience to stay on the water. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the Prinsenboat Studio. It was a lovely space for a couple.
There was a small miscommunication at check-in, which turned out Peter had an emergency. Everything was resolved rather quickly.
Peter was very proactive before our stay to make sure we knew where to go and how to get to the location. The location is great, really close to restaurants and transportation. The windows are big and offer a great view of the canal. Amsterdam is very walkable so getting anywhere is rather easy.
We would certainly book again!

We love being on the water, so this was a perfect fit for my husband and me. Ample room for two. Clean and tidy property. The Indonesian bed area was a romantic touch. We hope to return as soon as possible!

We stayed 9 days in a house boat on the canal in Amsterdam! The whole experience was amazing and fun. Would highly recommend staying in a houseboat in Amsterdam!

What an amazing experience! The houseboat is in the perfect location to explore all of Amsterdam. Peter was so helpful and responsive. We had an issue with the heating and he immediately took care of it. He offered wonderful recommendations and ensured our stay was comfortable. Would HIGHLY encourage you to stay at this amazing property!

This houseboat is in a wonderful location, right next to the Main Street for shopping and in the city center. What a great experience to wake up to a pair of swans tapping on the window looking for some snacks, and to watch boats go by right outside the window. The host was communicative and helped us when we had a minor issue with the thermostat not turning down. Very comfortable, nice experience. Beautiful imported furnishings to create a more private space for the bed, we enjoyed that touch. Only recommendations for prospective visitors is we originally were going to have 4 family members stay here, we ended up only having three, and lucky we did because it was a little tight for 3 adults. Best for 2 staying together I think. We would definitely stay here again.

My daughter and I had a lovely time exploring the city and relaxing at the boat when we needed down time.

An experience everyone should have. This houseboat is ideally located for getting around Amsterdam and mostly by walking. The property description is accurate. I certainly recommend trying out this experience: watching the canal boats go by as well as the swans and coots. Restaurants, bakeries, bars and museums are diverse and nearby.

I had a short 3 night stay and I thought the location was just perfect. Everything you need (atm, restaurants, cafes, grocery store) is within a block or two and it’s right on a tram line. This city is so walkable though, it was a 25 min walk to the Anne Frank museum and 15 min walk to the Van Gogh or Riek. One small thing, I did not think it was clear in the listing that this is a studio on a houseboat and that the owner lived on the other side. Peter was very kind and super helpful, so it worked out, but just wanted to give others a heads up!

Peter is a wonderful host with a most gorgeous houseboat. The peacefulness of the canal combined with the beautiful water shadows made it a most enjoyable trip. Thank you Peter for your hospitality.

Peter’s houseboat is a totally unique experience and a great way to experience Amsterdam. You are in the heart of the canal district with lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and other activities to enjoy close by. We just loved being on the water, being able to walk to museums, Dam square, along the river, and looking at all the architecture. Comfy bed and living space and though there is not a sink in the kitchen area, there are enough kitchen amenities that we were able to enjoy leisurely breakfasts, pack our lunches, and enjoy an evening beer and appetizers as the boats motored by. I looked at other VRBOs in town and am so glad we chose Peter’s Prinsenboat. I hope to come back some day for a longer period.

This is probably the most unique vacation property I've ever stayed in. Loved all the little details and design of the boat. Definitely made our trip more exciting than just an average apartment. Would definitely come again!

Great property in a great part of town, very walkable to all major sites, restaurants and shopping. The houseboat was accommodating and a lot of fun to be on the water. Peter was extremely communicative and easy to reach. Will return next time in Amsterdam.

If you want to get a good idea of what it means to live in Amsterdam, you should try Peter's place. The houseboat is not luxurious but it is comfortable and has everything you might require. I stayed 3 weeks quite easily. It was great being on what is a very popular canal.
It is right on a tramstop for a tram which makes all the attractions of Amsterdam accessible. There is a supermaket quite near and many restaurants.
Best of all, Peter was the most helful landlord I have ever had ! He went out of his way to solve any problem I had especially those of my own making. He made my stay the great experience it was! Thank you, Peter,

We were on a vacation to explore Amsterdam. This house boat provided us with the perfect experience. Great location. Thx.

I thought it would be fun to stay on a canal boat-but it was awful! The boat was marginally clean, scratchy and moldy smelling towels, no sink in kitchen for rinsing dishes, hot temperatures with no fans, face to face proximity with passing boats, and loud partying outside until about 3am.
We could not close windows since it was so hot and stuffy inside-so no way to shut out noise.
We added one person for one of the nights and the owner Peter wanted an extra $90 euros. I was so disappointed I wanted a total refund!
The basics of the place are fine-but seems neglected-older cheap bedding and lack of towels(0ne small hand towel for 3 of us) worn out floor rug, handle missing from drawer, no hand soap or shower soap.
So unless you can deal with all the flaws-I would not stay here again. This is the first negative review I have ever written after using VRBO for over 20 years—reall first disappointment.

We so enjoyed our stay! Perfect location close to everything but nice and quiet at night. So very clean and very well decorated. Rafaela was the perfect host and helped us so much with good communications and advice.

We enjoyed our stay at Prinsenboat. The host was friendly, the location was fantastic and my kids loved getting to wave at the people passing by in their boats. I enjoyed being further away from the touristy parts of the city. It was quiet and more family friendly.
All of the necessary items were clean, toilets… sheets… floors… but I did notice that the kitchen items (coffee maker, plates and glasses, etc) were very dusty and needed washed before you could use them. The windows in the bathroom were left open for ventilation but that meant there were spiders frequently in the bathroom.
Overall it was a good stay and we would consider returning.

Cute and cozy. Great location.

What a perfect location - easy access to everything! Peter is super nice and helpful. It was so nice to sit and watch the boats go by and wave - oh and ducks!!!
My only con was you have to be careful not to hit your head when you get out of that bed and the bathroom towels need an upgrade.
Note you are sharing half the houseboat - not an entire houseboat to yourself. Half a private apartment for you the other half owner.
Overall - loved it! We managed to squeeze in two teenage boys on the couch and it worked out great.
It was very cool and unique experience.

Lovely 4day stay
The location is prime, right on the tram line so easy access to train station and all the city sites. Peter was there to meet us, show us around and give us some tips - very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam and will recommend this houseboat to friends and family (small families).

Cute houseboat in excellent location next to tram and restaurants in quiet neighborhood. Peter was great to work with. Squeezed myself and three teens into the studio.
