Lucked our way into staying at this gem prior to leaving for our cruise.
The neighborhood is very quiet, the house is beautiful and you can hear the ocean right outside the front door. It’s a super easy couple of steps to get to the beach.
Property managers are highly communicative and welcoming. The house is beautifully maintained and has all the things you may need to enjoy your stay. This is a more residential area with grocery stores and activities within easy distance. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street since it fills up fast but wasn’t an issue as we ubered to most places and that was reasonably priced also. I’m only sad we weren’t here longer.

My family and I enjoyed 5 nights at the Cottage on the Peninsula in June 2019, absolutely loved it! Communication with Shawn throughout the booking was wonderful and on check in day, due to a delayed flight into CA, we didn't get into the house until midnight, but Shawn gave us the code to get in so made it all very easy. Although we arrived late, our host had all the lights on, so it was a nice welcome despite getting in so late,. The home was cozy and inviting. Our host had all the amenities we needed, linens, beach gear, soaps and comfortable beds! The location was perfect, we enjoyed the kayak and it was easy to roll over to the bay. The beach board walk was so nice and serene and we enjoyed walking out there in the morning. The home is steps from the beach, and although the streets are busy, the cottage had a garage which made things wonderful. Also had a laundry room, much needed for a family of four, soap and fabric sheets included! The home is lovely and just a gem of a place. We were so sad to leave, thank you for sharing your beautiful home, we had an amazing time. Living in Hawaii, we are accustom to beach living but the warmth and beauty of this home took being on the beach to a different level, Mahalo nui loa for a beautiful time!

My husband and I went with our 3 children and we had a lovely time! We were met when we arrived with a bottle of wine, which was well needed after traveling with 3 kids :). We loved that everything was stocked (I mean everything- laundry, shampoo/ conditioner, beach towels, frisbees, grill, anything you can think of). It was bright and airy as well. We used the kayak and paddle board and the kids loved it! We felt welcomed as Shawn was always in contact and responding to any questions we had. We did spend most of our beach time on the bay side though, which was a 5ish min walk. It’s not directly on the beach but close enough that made it feel like it was. Neighbors were also very friendly when we chatted with them. It was well worth every penny and would love to come back. It was close to pretty much everything in Long Beach and only a 25 min drive to disney land, which was awesome! One thing to note, could be because we didn’t read close enough, but there was no dishwasher. However, it was good for all the kids to help wash dishes and there were also a lot of restaurants close by. :)

Our family of four was super happy with our stay at the Cottage. It is a great super "beachy" location in Long Beach and just a short drive or long walk to everything you need for your stay. Each of our kids had their own bedroom (always a win there) and we were able to maximize every day due to the convenience. We would stay again.

Our stay was very nice at Shawn’s property. It was very clean (which is a big deal for me) and the location was great! The only thing that was not ideal was the walls to outside were very thin, so when neighbors would come home you definitely wake up. It was not a big deal once we knew but the first time was a bit surprising. We had a great time and would come again!

Our stay was wonderful - we enjoyed daily walks on the beach and it was so convenient to shopping and restaurants. The property had everything we needed and was just the right amount of space for us. The sunsets were amazing while the ocean breeze and crashing waves kept us in a perpetual state of calm that we so desperately needed. The property managers were great at communicating and met us as we checked in to make sure everything was ready for us.

Over all this is a great house. Super close to the beach just short walk down the boaed walk. House was clean except for some dog hair on the couch which was to be expected with a property that allows pets. We had toddlers and they could open the doors as there is no lock up high enough they couldnt reach. I would stay here again for sure with just my husband for a relaxing get away at a great price, but i wouldnt bring the toddler grandkids. Communication was great! Location was great! Beautiful house.

overall, we were impressed with shawn's home. does not feel like a rental. it feels like a home. the house is steps away from the beach. the beach is very quiet though for those who prefer a quiet beach. home was clean. had all the kitchen utensils, pots, plates, etc. home had enough towels for bathrooms and beach. home had one parking space in garage but you can park another small care close by garage doors. there is good parking spaces around the neighborhood. you do have to drive to other areas for entertainment as this home is in a residential place. I would say that the bed in master bedroom is more soft in general , which is fine if you prefer that. for those traveling with pets, there is limited space to walk dogs. you would have to walk several blocks to a small park area. overall, we enjoyed being there.

Perfect shabby chic french country beach cottage with everything you need. Immaculate, roomy, comfortable. Host responds immediately to texts and is very nice. Kitchen is set up so completely you won't need anything. The beach is quiet and just steps away...make sure to walk over to the Vibes cafe 2 blocks away for a great vanilla latte and delicious breakfast or lunch.

Shawn was an excellent host. She greeted us when we arrived, got us established, ran up to the hardware store and bought the umbrella we wanted, buying two just to be sure, and checked in with us the next day to see how things were going. The house is equipped with everything and is in an excellent location on the ocean side of the peninsula with easy access to Alamitos Bay where we spent most of our time.

Staying at this adorable cottage/house was like going home. I marveled that they had everything we needed, comfy beds, all utensils for use in the kitchen and it was two houses from the boardwalk. I wish we had been able to use all of the beach equipment that was easily available in the garage, but it was winter and to chilly. Loved our vacation!!

Thank you Shawn for having us at your place. We really enjoyed the location as we have family near by and was a great central location to visit with them. The location is great with steps away to the ocean and boardwalk, and a short walk to Bay side. The kids had a great time at both water fronts. The house was well stocked with amenities. We all slept great in those comfortable beds. Thanks again, we would definitely recommend and love to come back in the future.

The cottage was lovely, exactly as pictured. It included a well-stocked kitchen, charming living room, and cozy beds.
The neighborhood was charming. We enjoyed the Vibes Cafe on 62nd PL, the restaurants on 2nd Street, and the Creama Cafe and shopping in Seal Beach. The close proximity of Vibes Cafe and 2nd Street made it easy to get around without a car.
Our walks along the beach and being able to hear the sounds of the surf from inside the cottage enhanced our trip to see family.
We would love to stay again and have already recommended the cottage to other family members.

The house was perfectly located near both the beach and the bay. Although there is view of the beach from the house, you can hear the waves as soon as you open the door. The house was stocked with everything you need from games to a full kitchen. It is open and inviting and decorated beautifully. We had a great time just relaxing with our family and friends.

The location is of course the best, and the cottage just right size for us. We were comfortable although the deep soft sofa a bit difficult to sit in for long and to get up from! Recommend you put some bleach in with your sheets; they are getting a bit of a gray look. Also, a blanket for bed would be helpful; many sleepers cannot tolerate the heavy comforters--just too hot for sleeping comfortably. The pots and pans are great, plenty of dishes, good refrig. Please replace knob that turns on/off oven....all the numbers are worn off and you can't tell what temp to set! Some touch up painting is needed as well as repair to outside kitchen window. But all in all, you have a prize accommodation and I encourage you to maintain this gem well.

The pictures are very accurate. We were very pleasantly surprised when we walked in, it's just as cute as the pictures show. And as others said, it felt very clean.
The cottage is very well stocked with a lot of kitchen supplies, a lot of towels and blankets. It seems like it would be great for families with small kids.
The garage is stocked with beach chairs, a couple coolers, life vests. We used the kayak a couple times and it is very easy to pull it across the street to the bay.

The pictures of the beach cottage initially caught my eye because I love the bright, white and the beachy look. I read all of the positive reviews and decided to book it based upon the great reviews. The pictures on the website look just like the place in person. The location is great because it is just steps from the sandy beach.
The owner, Shawn, kept in contact with us daily and we appreciated her checking in to make sure we had everything that we needed. The fact that beach towels, chairs, and kayaks are available for use was awesome! We didn't end up using the kayaks, but liked the availability of them. And having a washer/ dryer to be use during our stay was very convenient!
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back in the future!

The property was located in the perfect location for my families vacation. We traveled with small children so being this close to the bay was ideal. However, at night when we needed to exhaust some of their energy we walked along the beach side. The property was well equipped with everything that we needed and even had amenities that we weren't expecting.

The whole experience was nothing short of AMAZING ! The communication with the property owners were excellent ! They responded to every question I had. The view was amazing. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

This house checks off everything we were looking for... Clean, Dog friendly, Steps to the beach, Toys and games for the little one, Kayaks, Stand Up Paddleboard, laundry, etc. We fully enjoyed our stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

This is our 2nd time renting this wonderful beach house, and our 6th time renting from Shawn. All of her properties are elegant, comfortable, and in prime locations. She is always available if we need her (never really have, but she checks in and touches base frequently).
This cottage is decorated exactly like I want a beach house to look, and the beds are SO comfortable. Our dog is welcome, and she also loves this location!
I know we will be back- the holidays are so busy that I didn’t get to check out the paddle board and kayak, but it is on the perfect location when I have time.
