Situated in a mixed use, art deco building, Mint House is not your typical hotel. There are great facilities like a coffee shop, fresh food supermarket, laundromat, gym, etc.
The rooms give off an apartment vibe, making one instantly feel at home. I booked a small studio which was pleasantly spacious, with a nice, comfortable bed, fridge, a selection of beverages, crockery, etc. The vinyl record player is a lovely touch and you can pick up a selection of vinyls from reception to take back to your room.
The front desk staff are helpful & friendly.
The hotel is keyless. Meaning you’re given a code to operate the elevators & access your room.
Getting around is relatively easy: Located in the heart of the Financial District, Mint House is a short walk from many attractions like Wall Street, 9/11 Memorial & Trinity Church. There are also a number of Metro stations close by as well as a ferry port less than 10 minutes walk away. I boarded the ferry from Wall Street Pier for a quick trip to Brooklyn.
1. While the code access system is a good feature, it does get awkward when you’re in an elevator with strangers & you don’t want them to see the code you’re entering, because anyone with your code could potentially open your door.
2. Before arriving, I contacted the front desk to ask for the best way to get to Mint House from JFK. The person I spoke with advised that my best option was for them to book me a taxi for $135 as Uber would most likely charge me more. I wish I hadn’t believed this. It turns out that there are a flurry of yellow cabs at JFK and they’ll take you anywhere in the city for a flat fee of $70!!!! Needless to say, I felt scammed, so it did put a dampener on my arrival.

Check in staff were excellent! Space was very nice and functional.
Could have used some options for firmer pillows.

Got a newly renovated studio on the 3rd floo which I liked a lot! The interior design is more to my liking than the old one - all is fresh and light with a touch of scandinavian chick. I also like the layout a lot and did have even 2 levels within the room - great!
View is typically NYC - you can see the next building which is not so appealing - but no big surprise there.

The hotel staff were very friendly. The room and facilities were all well maintained and clean, so I felt comfortable during my stay.
The lighting in the room was dim, and there was no dining table, which was inconvenient

There was no breakfast room, the Blue Fox is very pricy - but EXCELLENT!
Coffee thing in the room. A real Italian espresso machine would have been easier to handle.

space is larger than many hotels in the city. good location. it’s comfortable
every room has different floor plan/layout. hard to predict. for example, we could have used a larger dining table. adding hanging rods to the closest would be very useful, sometimes you can only hang clothes from 1 of the 5 closets. makes the other closets a bit useless. lastly, I’m not sure why Mint House took away baby high chairs and baby cots - renting from BabyQuip is just too expensive and unaffordable

Apartment was HUGE and in mint condition [ super modern ], daily cleaning service. Kitchen was fabulous. Laundry service avail which was great.
Apartment block is 2 min from Wall Street station. Shop at corner of block.
Walking distance from Brooklyn Bridge, 9/11 Memorial and Museums. Ferry to Statue of Liberty also close by. Hop on Hop off bus stop 7 min away.

Mint House is set in a amazing building at pine street
Had some issues with the heating system which periodically generated an incredibly loud noise which always woke me from sleep. It was always difficult to set a comfortable temperature

The staff was moody and the water was coming up to the bathtub leaving brown stains in the tub.
