Buried in the Woods \/ Full of Art & Style \/ 10 mins drive to downtown Asheville
About this house rental
House is a 10 min. drive to downtown Asheville, 7 min. to Biltmore Village, 5 min. to BRP and US40. UBER is available. House is full of beautiful original art from around the world, *including several nudes*, objet d'art and custom furniture and decor. A designer by trade, I lived in and worked on this house for more than a decade and poured a great deal of creative spirit into making it a one-of-a-kind property; contemporary finishes and unique details abound. The house is not suitable for families with children under 10. There is open alcohol in the bar, there are adult touches here and there like an art collection with several (very tasteful) nudes, & fragile objet d'art on low shelves. There are also 'adult toys' like the dark-cherry pool table, as well as walnut furniture and white bed spreads. Please mention that you've read this if traveling with kids. Well-trained pets hosted regularly — but only pets ••trained to stay off of all bed and furniture•• are a good fit for this property. (Let us know you've read this to expedite booking with pets.) HOUSE OFFERS - 4 private rooms; two with private baths and two which share a bath. Three of the beds are queens, and one is a king. Mattresses are comfortable, linens are provided. PROPERTY OFFERS - screened-in sleeping/yoga room in woods, bog with deck in the woods below the house with salamanders, dragonflies, crayfish and endless ferns & flowers. Read more about bog below. KITCHEN The updated kitchen boasts concrete counter tops, and acid-washed copper back splashes with a granite island and a propane cook top. There are proper knives and dish wear for cooking as well as a gas stove and a double oven. LIVING ROOM There are wood floors and high ceilings with a contemporary Scandinavian wood stove as a center piece. The hearth is steel with a cultured stone/coral behind. There is a ceiling fan skylights (light-tubes) and comfortable seating. LOUNGE The downstairs offers a 4th bedroom and party space with a beautiful pool table. Everything is completely custom - from original-design and custom-built 7' light fixtures, curved walled shower, and a bar made from steel, poured concrete and granite. The (2-car) garage is accessed through this space. THE DECK There is a 40' south-facing deck which is suitable for (private) sun-bathing and al-fresco meals at a travertine table below an umbrella. Deck has a fire pit AND a charcoal grill. THE BOG There is a deck in "the bog" down below the house, where 3-4 brooks and springs come together. There is rich (seasonal) world down there; teaming with crayfish, dragonflies, salamanders and their ilk. All around are plants, flowers, ferns, birds and lots of privacy. There is even a screened-in building "the temple" suitable for eating, sleeping, yoga, meditation, reading etc. The driveway is *streets of San Francisco STEEP*, which is common of mountain homes in the mountains. In the rare occasion that we get a heavy snow, people all over the region tend to leave their cars at the end of the driveway near the road, so little to no shoveling is required.

Easy access to town, arboretum, Blue Ridge, River Arts District ... Just about everything and yet we were in the middle of woods with deer, birds and gorgeous flowering dog woods. and azaleas. Lovely deck for morning coffee.

Wonderful home with great art and a hip vibe. Our host kept us updated at all stages of the rental process and was very understanding with us on a last minute blunder on our part.

We enjoyed our time at this Ashville property. It was in a great location, with a grill, stocked kitchen and baths (could use a few more washclothes). It was so convenient having a nice washer/dryer in the property as well. We will definitely stay here again when we return!!

GREAT LOCATION
This is the ideal quiet get away house--if you can't rest, relax and get a good nights sleep here you can't do it anywhere. Perfect for unwinding.
Another plus is the close proximity to good restaurants. There are some very good places to eat within about a 10 minute drive. Just refer to the list left in the house. I would also add Fig and Rendezvous as good places to eat.

This is a wonderful place for a family reunion. Very convenient to get to anywhere in Asheville, yet nicely out in the country. Biltmore is a few minutes away, and an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is just down the street. Our host was very accomodating. Lots of parking. We loved it.

This property is a true gem! Tucked far enough into the mountains where you get the full effect, but close enough to the interstate where anything downtown is a maximum 15 minute drive. Plenty of space to spread out, and we loved the unique artwork around the house. Also the host was SUPER communicative. We’d definitely book again!

Thanksgiving in the woods
There were six of us that stayed at this property over Thanksgiving holidays. We hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for 12. With Trip's help, we were able to use his card tables to increase seating from 8 to 12.
The house was comfortable for all of us staying there. There is only one TV, but that was not a big deal for us as we were having fun playing pool downstairs. The house has some beautiful decorative touches and the artwork is very interesting. I can recommend this property for a small group of adults.

Really enjoyed our visit to Asheville early Sept 2021. Well appointed house with all the comforts and details covered. All information about the house were clear and easy to follow/understand. The furnishings are in great condition and artwork so captivating. The location was perfect, accessible to the BRP and easy routes to town. We really appreciated the warm hospitality that made our visit to Asheville so delightful and enjoyable!

This property is one of the best we have stayed at & we have stayed at several. Tripp is very easy to work with & extremely responsive when situations arise. We had a power outage that affected several hundred customers for which we had an immediate reply re nature & expected duration of the outage.
The home is lovely, private, & suited the 6 of us--2 couples & 2 singles, each with our own space. There are many unique features not often found at a VRBO which you can read about in the description of the property. This home would not be suitable for families with young children due to the original art & things such as an authentic dulcimer on an open shelf, but our 16 year old loved the site. Located east of town, it is surrounded by woods. The drive is extremely steep, but was not a problem for us. I'd be worried if it snowed, but that is just me. We'd definitely stay there again and were sad to leave.

First of all, Trip is an amazing host. He thinks of everything, making your time at this beautiful, wooded oasis amazing. It is in a perfect location, close to Asheville and Biltmore, but also far enough away from the craziness the city can bring. Great trails all around Asheville. We especially loved driving along the Blue-Ridge Parkway, which is truly beautiful.
Thank you Trip!!!!

Awesome stay
Everything was incredible, from the privacy, to the amenities (my kids loved the turntable and pool table), comfortable beds, love they are all at least queen size, the showers were amazing, all the extras you’d ever need. Only recommendation I have is it would have been nice to have another small couch upstairs because the fireplace was so awesome we all wanted to gather there and relax. Close to everything, including the Biltmore House and Blue Ridge Parkway. Never seen forsythia in such a large batch as in the back of the house. Incredible!! Many, many nice touches. The host was extremely helpful and responsive. The decorations and art were mesmerizing. Love the downstairs so we could be noisy If we wanted having fun but others were able to go to sleep. Will DEFINITELY stay here again. Thanks for sharing your home!!
