umVangati House is one of those places you won’t forget. we stayed there for one night and everything was perfect. the hospitality level is exceptional, the dinner and breakfast was excellent, our suite was bug-free and very clean. We enjoyed walking the wooden deck with our binoculars and spot wild Kudu and many birds. I would recommend stay for more than one night, this place is well worth it.
nothing. it was perfect.

The serenity that comes with the place. The family's warmth. The food as well was just on another level. And the ambience outside was just breathtaking. Love the place and the pets. I still want the cat😻😻

A fantastic house with an incredible view. We stayed there for two nights and enjoyed all the time. The location is perfect for excursions to the Blyde River. We can highly recommend having dinner and enjoying Lidia's skill in cooking. The view and the food as well as the atmosphere make us recommend that you stay at least two nights.
Lidia and Giel are exceptional hosts
Thanks Peter and Agneta

Everything was perfect. You are spoilt with the most magnificent mountain views surrounding umVangati. It was the best place to travel to after 4 weeks of lockdown in Gauteng. Lidia & Giel are so welcoming and their attention to detail made our stay such a pleasure. Breakfast was delicious (enhanced by aforementioned views :) )and we were truly grateful that our request for a cheese platter in place of formal dinner was accommodated on the 2nd evening.

It was a last minute booking but the hosts were very accommodating in checking us in after hours, the house didn't disappoint easy to find, very clean, good location and stunning views! the room was very comfortable, we had an awesome breakfast with a view!! makes a great romantic spot for couples.
We sensed the hosts were uneasy making us feel a bit uncomfortable, that's the only thing that would make us think twice about returning.

As we booked Umvangati house very last minute, we unfortunately only stayed one night at this stunning place. However this was one of the most memorable stays during our entire trip through South Africa. Already prior to our arrival, Lidia made sure we would make the most of our short stay by providing us with the best recommendations for the area. Once you arrive, you immediately get the feeling of “coming home”. The whole place is a small, family run boutique accommodation and you can literally feel the warmth and love each family member put into this place. The rooms (stay in one of the three villas if you have the chance!) are top notch and you will never wanna leave again because every detail is just perfect. Sitting on the balcony or the big terrace by the pool and watching the mountains turn red during sunset or sunrise is one of the most magnificent things to witness.
Other fun facts:
Lidia’s husband built most of the wooden furniture himself.
They have an AMAZING wild cat called Kira.
They built a waterhole nearby so you can watch wild animals such as Giraffes, Zebras or even a Leopard passing by all day long!
The food Lidia prepares is just without words. Dinner was served in their impressive self-built wine cellar accompanied by an excellent selection of South African wines. We got along so well with the entire family, that we stayed up for another hour and spent a lovely time with them in the huge living room – just as if you would visit your friends. Breakfast contained everything you could ever wish for, ranging from fresh fruit to eggs any style you like them with the best possible view you could ever ask for.
The whole area is amazing for hiking or day trips to the Krüger, so make sure to be smarter than us and try to stay for at least 2-3 days 😊

The food was my highlights, tasty and good presentation
You don't have much flexibility for breakfast and dinner in terms of time..If the the breakfast could be between 07h00 and 10h00 and dinner between 05h00 and 21h00.
And secondly the road from the gate is not paved if it's raining you may not make it with a small car..you can put a gravel and compact it.

umVangati's location is stunning. The views are even better than the photos suggest. There really is no need to do much other than sit out on the deck, watching the hills, the sky, the animals in the bush, and then have a swim. It's a peaceful idyll. We ate dinner on the deck twice, and it was really excellent. Breakfast is great too. Don't turn down the opportunity for one of Lidia's corn waffles.
