About this villa rental
La Merlaia (typical countryside building) is perfectly located both for sightseeing (about 20 minutes by car from Ponte Vecchio, Piazzale Michelangelo, Piazza Santa Croce and parking lot to walk in Florence downtown) and rest (it is located at 350mt of altitude, so during the night it is never too hot, and is dipped in the typical Tuscan countryside, surrounded by fields of olive trees and vineyards).
The garden have both a shady area with secular trees and a sunny south facing garden where is located the 12x6 pool (completely private use open from 1 April to 31 October). 10 km from Florence, 7 km from Bagno a Ripoli and 1 km from San Donato in Collina (bus stop to Florence, food open Sunday too, bars, chemist, soccer court). Horse riding 2 km away. Golf course 15 km. At guests disposal is a large fenced garden, panoramic terrace with gazebo and garden furniture, private 6X12 swimming pool with night lights, soccer court, basket, ping pong, barbecue. The pool area with the pavement completely renovated in 2025 is furnished with deck chairs, chairs and table. The house comprises a 1 he field with olive trees. Ideal location for trekking, trail running and mountain bike. The house is provided with pool, billiard, piano, bath tub, internet WI-FI. Access to the property by a 100 mt dirt road.

We can assist you to organize transportation with private shuttle to/from Florence Airport, train station and downtown and also private tour in Tuscany.
Just in front of our property you will find Villa Torre a Cona with its renowned winery, gourmet restaurant and massage service.
We can also organize for you a private chef to come to serve you at the house for a dinner and also "pasta fresca" cooking class.
For nature lovers, we can organise a Chianti bike tour and just 3 minutes from our villa you can experience horse riding.

Lovely stay with wonderful hosts! They even arranged an awesome Chef’s dinner prepared at the Villa. The pool was amazing and very efficient air conditioning in all the bedrooms. Location was excellent with beautiful wineries in minutes. We will be back!

I stayed here with my family (including elderly parents and kids) for about a week. The space is large and accommodates big groups (especially groups with kids) very well. The highlight of the property is the fantastic pool. If you have elderly people in your group or folks with mobility issues, this may not be the best space for you. All of the bedrooms are upstairs and the stairs were really hard for my mother to navigate. There are also several steps around the house, which can be hard for people with limited mobility. Also, just note that the larger beds are actually twin beds pushed together. This wasn't a deal breaker for us, but didn't provide the most comfortable sleep experience.I also think that the house upkeep needs a little more thought and care. For example, the faucets upstairs and downstairs make screeching noises when you turn them on, and although there is a basketball hoop, there was no basketball, which disappointed the kids in our group. The property overall is very peaceful and the views are absolutely stunning. The location is decent and a short drive from a few restaurants etc. Communication with the property mangers, especially Giulia, was fantastic. She was really responsive and helpful and attentive to the needs of the group. Finally, you will be asked to pay the cleaning fee & heat/water etc. in cash. This was fine, but we were not told about needing to pay an extra 80 for taxes, so I did not appreciate that unexpected expense.

This house was very clean and the bedrooms were comfortable. Guilia was super helpful and stayed in contact. She helped sort a ride from the train station for our daughter and if we had the time would have set a chef or cooking class. She made everything so seamless! I only have one item I think (Americans) may want to know before you book- you can’t flush toilet paper and have to put it in a bin in the bathroom. It is the worst thing? No, but with my group I may have chosen a house with regular plumbing. The train station is a 12 minute drive so you don’t have to drive into Florence, we appreciated that. Overall, worth all the great reviews!

We had a wonderful time at La Merlaia. Loved having the pool to come home to after a day of exploring. The bedrooms are very large, the kitchen was stocked with every cooking utensil, pan and serving dish you would ever need, fantastic billiard table and huge dining room. We would recommended it to all.
