The location is excellent and the street is very quiet. The bedroom was well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast waitress was welcoming and helpful.
It is impersonal as the only person you meet is the breakfast waitress.

Nice central location, easy access with lock boxes and great breakfast
The room was kind of small - and the were no where to comfortably sit

Lovely friendly staff, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast.
6.0
Friendly staff, good location, excellent shower, quiet. Check in for late arrival from the ferry was conveniently by secure key pick up. Teapots at breakfast time much appreciated!
Mattress would be improved with a mattress topper. Lighting in bedroom was quite dim. Breakfast could have been a bit more varied with foods other than breakfast cereals and sliced bread (other than the cooked breakfast which not everyone wants to eat). Not sure why hotel rooms mount small TVs so high on the wall!

Location was fine
The door to the bathroom had a faulty lock, someone could get stuck. Beware!

A unprepossessing property, nevertheless the West End Guest house has a warm heart. It's a bit shabby, but it's clean, and once the room got heated up, it was warm. Great shower. It would have been nice to be on the second floor, with a better view. Still, it was quiet at night. It's also only a block or two from town. Really nice that it has parking.
The breakfast and breakfast staff were lovely. It's a little odd to get to the place and find your room key in a lockbox - there is no staff on hand - but it worked fine.
This is not a luxury accommodation but it was adequate, comfortable, and served our needs well.

the room I stayed in was very nice and warm
relying on customers to not lock the front door doesn’t work, I got off the ferry and was ringing the bell and calling the phone with no answer. as a young woman travelling by myself I didn’t appreciate having to find the back door down the alleyway in the middle of the night, very scary.

Friendly helpful owner. Excellent breakfasts. Rooms cleaned every day. Spotless.
When we were Not well happy to let us stay in our room until the time to catch the ferry. Will be back.
Perfect for exploring Orkney.

very nice location and quiet location, the property and room is stylish with a good local charm, my room looked much better than on pictures and felt cosy, very nice and kind adaptable staff
the bed mattrace needs changing - you can feel the springs but asking for an extra duvet made it possible to sleep on it, i could hear noise from other guests through the wall including hearing what they said on the phone - def needs sound proofing

I couldn’t open the bedroom window. I like the window open at night.

Very very tight room and bathroom. Not level ground, rolling while sleeping

Room was clean and comfortable, shower good and nice breakfast. Good to have a plate cutlery and wine glass in the room. One of the better accommodations I have stayed in on Orkney recently.
Difficult to find the car park in the dark. Directions would have been useful. Reception unmanned and no sign of hosts at breakfast so it lacked the personal touch.

Some lovely views from the hotel and close to a lovely walk looking down onto the cliffs.
The shower were so hard to reculate in the lodges. The hotel was very run down with the 80s decor unchanged. Staff were unhelpful apart from the lady the booked us in and the girl behind the desk the morning we left. Food was unpleasant. Dessert was stale.

Great location. Exceptional staff, who went out of their way to provide good service, travel suggestions and tailored breakfast to our requests. convenient after-hours check-in process when taking the evening ferry

Well located Kirkwall guest house with private parking and lovely staff. Good WiFi and excellent fresh breakfast.
9.0
Centrally located with ample parking, a lovely old house and an ideal place as a stop over for work. The breakfast was awesome and was more than enough to keep me going for the day, I'd definitely stay here again.
As I was staying for work overnight a single bed was more than adequate, the room was small and there was no space to put a desk to write a report, it would be good to have a space in the no longer used foyer to put a work space.

Water pressure in shower was poor.

Excellent breakfast, very friendly staff and clean and cozy rooms! Quiet neighborhood, just a few minutes from the Cathedral square.
The only thing which was not great at West End Hotel was the shower. The shower is very unpractical, the water is either ice cold or cooking hot, it makes it very difficult to enjoy a shower

Quiet location.
couldn’t find the car park so had to park in street. no lift so had to lug case up two flights of stairs to my room.

In a great central but quiet location. Comfortable and clean room with great service by friendly staff at breakfast
Possibly the room could have been a bit bigger but still comfortable enough.
