About this cottage rental
Located in Pennsylvania, this charming cottage for $225 per night is a great choice for your next break. Welcome to the Dutch Country Cottage. Situated on 9 wooded acres in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, this early 1700's stone farmhouse has been beautifully restored and is nestled in the woods just outside Churchtown, PA. It was once the home of the foreman at the historic Poole Forge, this wonderful cottage is open for use year round. Two bedrooms upstairs on the second floor, small bedroom is furnished with one queen bed. The large bedroom with two beds, one queen and one full size bed. Both rooms have access to one large bathroom which is complete with an old clawfoot bathtub like grandma used to have . Cozy up next to the wood stove on a cool evening (firewood provided). Please note the maximum number of guests the cottage can accommodate is six. This is an ideal romantic get-away for two, a fantastic retreat for four, or a great place for a family visiting Amish country. Set several hundred yards back from the road, you will have a beautiful view of the valley below from the edge of hundreds of acres of woodlands. Make your own breakfast or order hot sticky buns from a Amish family down the road. Read a book on our wisteria covered patio overlooking a peaceful secluded backyard. Listen to the night sounds while sitting around the campfire. Enjoy some of Lancaster's best family dining, or prepare a quiet meal in our unique kitchen. Option to Experience a home cooked meal with an Amish couple. Either way you choose, this will be the most relaxing time you can imagine.

This cottate was adorable. The driveway is beautiful including the landscaping in the back yard around the firepit. We would love to go back when we could use it. It was to cold for our visit.
The treats from the host were a great touch , and the house is so cute inside, very clean. Surrounding area was pretty countryside but close to things!

Quaint cozy farmhouse with a great backyard and fire pit. We enjoyed using the fireplace in the living room and cooking in the spacious kitchen. The homemade treats, and local milk and eggs were a very nice touch. Recommend for friends or family looking for a quiet getaway.

Obsessed with this house, property, and location! We had the best weekend at the cottage with our two dogs. We mostly enjoyed the quiet and the woods and the rest and the wildlife. The house had everything we needed and was so cozy and comfy. Was easy to find and worth the price. Would definitely come again!

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway away from it all this is the place. There are farms everywhere, and horse and buggies all along the back roads.
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary weekend.
The only issues we noticed were a couple of the photos are just a little out of date, the fish pond had very little water, and no fish, and it's about a half hour drive to any grocery store that has a full selection of fresh food. but otherwise, everything was wonderful.
We will visit again, and I recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful relaxing getaway.

This property was so whimsy and beautiful! The grounds were gorgeous as well! My daughter said it was like a house out of a fairy-tale. It had everything we needed. Everything was well thought out with the guests in mind every step of the way! Thank you for sharing this home with us, and allowing our pet to spend vacation with us too! We will be back again!

The cottage is so charming. The hosts of the property love locally and left some homemade goodies and local fresh goods, like local milk and butter, farm fresh eggs, homemade cookies and jam!
Everything you need to cook and bake your meals are provided. Plenty of cookware and cooking utensils.
The grounds are beautifully manicured. We enjoyed hiking and hanging out one afternoon around the outdoor fire pit. Plenty of dry firewood and kindling are provided for use. We enjoyed playing board games and solving jigsaw puzzles in the evening around the wood stove.
There are many farm stands locally to purchase fresh produce. We also drove to Lancaster one day to do some sight seeing and visit the Lancaster Central Market.
If you come to the cottage in October and enjoy haunted hayrides, I highly recommend the Field of Screams. Possibly the best haunted hayride I’ve ever been to.
In the welcome binder at the cottage you will find instructions on how to order fresh baked cinnamon rolls from a lovely wan named Lydia. They were so delicious and I’m so glad we did that!
All in all one of the nicest vacation rental experiences we have had. Highly recommend and hope to visit again!

This is an amazing cottage! Just so pretty. We loved everything about this cottage. Inside and out the cottage was very clean and well cared for. Loved the cookies, milk, bread, butter, and jelly that was waiting for us when we checked in. Such a warm welcome.
Loved the hardwood floors, spiral staircase, claw-foot tub, and blend of modern and antique furniture. Plenty of closets for clothes. Comfortable beds and bedding. Plenty of towels, blankets, and extra pillows. Such a cozy place to stay for couples or families.
Staircase and claw-foot tub might be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues but we are in our sixties and had no problem with either.
Quiet roads perfect for evening walks. Great seating outdoors at the fire pit, back patio, or front porch. Loved the candles in the windows which gave the cottage a warm and welcoming look.
Very nice location also. Super quiet and yet conveniently located near many attractions and stores.
We ordered the sticky buns from the Amish lady down the road. Best sticky buns ever! We also had lunch at the Amish lady's house. The meal is family style in a large room that can accommodate up to a group of 30 or 40 people. Great value for a fabulous meal. Would highly recommend both. Information for booking both are in the cottage binder.
We will be staying at this cottage again. Just a lovely place!

We loved it. We can't wait to go again. The backyard couldn't of been nicer and our Golden Retriever enjoyed as much as we did. Lots to do around town or just chill in the backyard. Celebrating our 32nd Anniversary was awesome.

We had such a relaxing time at the cottage. We are also hosts so we can appreciate the hard work that the owner put into this property. The grounds were beautifully maintained, the house was super clean and stocked with every possible amenity. We loved the welcome foods that were left for us. We ate them for breakfast each morning. It was an amazing experience to spend a couple nights in such a historic house (built in 1700’s) yet with all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable. The seating areas outside are a great place to relax and stargaze at night. We loved that we were across from a farm, yet tucked into the woods for that feeling of privacy. We will certainly be back. This is our new favorite place in the Lancaster area :-). Thank you for a memorable stay!

The backyard was amazing and well kept. It was a very relaxing stay but still near many places to go. The cottage was cozy, quiet and very comfortable. The cookies, fresh baked bread, eggs and fresh milk were a real treat. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Myself and my two middle school aged children stayed here for almost 2 weeks and it was the perfect launching point to everything we wanted to do! We were an hour from Hershey, and an hour from Philadelphia, and everything between. We went to Herr's chip factory, Amish farmers markets, Lancaster market and ghost tour, Shady Maple Smorgasbord, Lititz (cutest village!!), Yuengling brewery, old Philadelphia, Fort Mifflin and plenty of other random stops.
What a treat it was after a 12 hour drive to walk into the cottage and see fresh milk, homemade cookies, eggs, butter, and bread. My teen devoured the cookies and milk with gusto! ;) Staying in such an old property was a great novelty to my kiddos and the setting is very peaceful and beautifully landscaped. Easy access to the turnpike as well! Thanks for making our first time to SE Pennsylvania a great one.

this property is simply magnificent ! everything you need is right there. the yard is so nice and peaceful. we sat by the firepit every night. attractions close by visited Hershey made our own candy Strausburg scooter tour of Amish was amazing! shops everywhere the views of farmlands and towns are breath taking . we will def be back

Very quaint and peaceful cottage perfect for a weekend getaway. Teresa and David were great hosts. The location is close to the businesses and restaurants, and yet has a remote, secluded feel to it. We very much enjoyed our stay.
