Small cottage with river access, perfect for two people

Avoid This Property-Need a Complete Renovation

Nothing, we did not spend the nights.

We arrived a little early, and that turned out to be a blessing. At 3:00 PM, there was still nobody there to clean the house, even though check-in was at 4:00 PM. When we arrived, we could hardly believe this was the property we had rented. It was by far the worst-maintained house and garden we have ever seen. Paint was peeling everywhere, the gutter was broken, the screens on the front door and windows were torn, the air-conditioning unit was hanging out of its frame, and the chair cushions were wet, dirty, and stained. The outdoor furniture was absolutely filthy. The deck was in poor condition, with peeling paint and exposed nails sticking out. The BBQ was in worn out state. The front door was open, so we briefly stepped inside to see if anyone was there. No one was. It was immediately obvious that the property had not yet been cleaned: stripped bed linens were lying on the floor. This also allowed us to see the mattress, which was absolutely disgusting—covered in blood and urine stains. The interior was dark, neglected, and depressing. We then went to look for the boat dock. It is located far from the house, shared with others, and looks nothing like the photos. In fact, neither the house nor the garden resemble the pictures shown in the listing. After waiting for a while, we decided there was no way we could stay there and booked alternative accommodation while we still had the chance. We immediately informed both the owner and Evolve. Despite the extensive photos and detailed description we provided, they insisted that any issues would have been resolved if we had stayed. They refused to cancel the booking or issue a refund—not even a partial refund—despite the fact that we had paid for a three-night stay. This property needs a complete renovation, both nside and out. It is especially unacceptable considering this was not a budget rental; the cost exceeded $180 per night.

Cozy Weekend Getaway

We loved how close the cottage was to the lake and that it was a short drive to Ha Ha Tonka. We were comfortable and slept well here. It was the perfect amount of space for two gals to have a fun getaway weekend. We especially enjoyed lounging on the deck and listening to the bird song all around us. This place was peaceful.
