Good property, unsatisfactory management, bad experience with Booking.com

The hotel is easily accessible and is close to all the main places that I had to visit for work. The neighbourhood is not good. The property is clean, but no staff on the premises. Communication with the property very challenging.

There is a huge price difference between the amount for which I booked and the amount that was charged to my credit card. The confirmation showed USD 1, 950.72 (€1,802) but I was charged USD 2,250.72 (€2,159.38), which is USD 300 more. I received no explanation for this. I would ask Booking.com to ensure that the price difference is reimbursed to me immediately. I feel cheated. The communication with the property was not satisfactory. I had to call Booking.com to contact the property. The telephone number of the property mentioned in the booking does not work. I tried several times and was connected to an answering machine that said that the mailbox is full. Once in the hotel, I found the property well equipped and clean. The tap in the Bathroom sink was not working and I wrote the property (Anas), who said that he will inform the maintenance team of the apartment building. As no repair was done I asked a staff of the maintenance team whom I met in the lobby and he came to fix it. There is no reception or any hotel staff present in the building. There was no shower gel or soap to shower. Property management told me in an email that soap is not provided. If they can provide hand washing soap, shampoo, dishwashing soap and soap for washing clothes, why not shower gel or soap. My experience with Booking.com was very disappointing too. 1. There is no contact number to reach the customer service. I spent a lot of money to call the number in the UK. The online messaging system, perhaps managed by AI or a bot informed me that my message had be conveyed to the property and then blocked me. The customer service person Youssef was excellent and very kind. He responded quickly, but by then I had spent €30 on the call to the UK. This is not acceptable. Booking.com should list its telephone numbers of all countries so that customers in distress can call for help.

Whilst we enjoyed the location of the property. Our son lives on 6th Avenue.

The location. Access to get in was very simple.

It was sad to see so many homeless people right out front. As a Super Host for AirBnB, the amenities should be improved. Plenty of paper towels, not sure why. The furniture is not comfortable whatsoever. For the cost, I suggest supplying some bottled water, some small snacks of the weary traveler arriving late at night. Coffee and creamers of the morning.

Lovely, I would book the penthouse again.

The apartment was lovely and spacious. Very clean and the kitchen was fully appointed.

Could have used more bath towels. If there had been two of us per bedroom the two bath towels and two washcloths per room would not have been enough. An iron to go with the intoning board and a hairdryer would be nice. The first booking was cancelled after I received a confirmation code. I suggest changing the website to verify the necessary information prior to sending the confirmation email. My QR code to open the door never worked. Luckily a desk was attendant was almost always present.

Superb

Nice clean appartment. Love that we had access to Netflix, Disney +, etc and that we had a washer/dryer in the appartment. I felt secured with the receptionist/giard at the entrance. Super fast response from the landlord.

Homeless, drug addicts living right besides the building. I was scared to leave in the evening.

The Shaw

The location is amazing it's close to the best of what DC has to offer.

The fire alarm was pulled from outside having everyone in the building up at 3:30am in the rain was not a good look. Someone also was shot in the leg just out front of the building.

Unfortunately there was someone shot dead literally just yards from where we were staying and it made us very cautious for the last few days of our visit. The area as highlighted in the news report below, has been the centre of some drug dealing for quite awhile. Obviously this wasn’t mentioned when the property was being advertised. nice building and unit but the neighborhood left us feeling a little uneasy

close to metro, nice building and unit

neighborhood was a little rough, homeless camp across the street from unit. lots of sirens, heard gun shots one night, saw a person od right in front of the building. also no shade on door to standing room only outdoor terrace-bright lights and a direct line of sight to the homeless group across the street

Will definitely be back

Well worth the trip and the safety. Loved every single thing about this.

Not necessarily didn't like, because it's in the middle of the city, but being near the hospital, you will hear sirens. The room closed off about 85% of the outside noise but you'll still hear sirens her/there.

very attractive apartment. lots of light and well furnished. easy access. responsive management, helpful concierge.

had to use home service accounts to access cable tv, Netflix etc. Didn’t have passwords with us. no grocery or drug store nearby.

Good

Fantastic apartment. Clean. Big windows from top to floor with a view. Easy check in with a virtual key. Good coofee! Near acess to the metro.

The surrounding area was a bit scary. Lots of drugaddicts in groups. We didn't want to come home after dark. They didn't do anything to us but very sad to see. But... the apartment was top top and the whole building safe.

Enjoyed the comfort and convenience of the location, but the noise was a big distraction.

The property was clean and comfortable. Near a Washington, D.C. Metro station.

Constant noise from the street below and nearby buildings and businesses. Virtually non-stop ambulance traffic, with sirens and horns, attempting to get through the traffic on the street.

It was a nice place but financially a headache.

The property was great, view was very nice! It was clean, spacious and comfortable.

The deposit has been a headache. I was charged $300 for my deposit, when I reached out to the owner several times I received no reply. I stayed in February and still have not received my deposit back or a reply .. It’s April. Looks like I will have to start a dispute.

Fraud protection didn't let deposit go through. Called pure voyage shaw. They said they couldn't rake it over the phone. Called booking.com they said call property. After rising 3hrs to get there I get email saying they had just canceled reservation 5 min before my arrival. Called property again no answer. I feel like this property is a scam

Expansive views toward the mall and comfortable accommodations. Terraces are large and wind protected.

the actual units were nice. they charge what ever they feel per room. same rooms have two different charges.

it’s located in a Ghetto two block radius. lots of homeless people around.

The response from the property was horrible. no information ever given regardless of when you contacted them. there is no logic by the management team. nobody on the ground there has any answers. you can only write messages. you can’t speak to any human. it’s sucks that you have to pay them directly and not through booking.com as we have not been covered for any wrong doings or complaints. despite many messages to booking.com they chose to still have them listed as a property.

We are have enough space here, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable.

I can feel that the location is not very safe for us especially for a family with kids. I have a five month baby with me, but there are a couple of homeless people downstairs. And there is a person keep screaming during the night, I even can’t sleep. General it’s a good place to stay but I won’t recommend this place to people.

I would strongly recommend against staying in this location as a family. The booking.com rating does not reflect the reality of the experience.

1. Entry to the building was broken 2. The key lock on the unit door didn’t work (battery was dead) 3. The washing machine was broken (but was quickly fixed after arrival) 4. Apartment is tired and fixtures below average, e.g. towel rack was broken off the wall 5. Multiple drug addicts around the entrance actively shooting up near my children and screaming in the night 6. Food truck generator directly below the main bedroom running until 3am on Sunday morning. The property was not interested in the feedback, just sending generic messages about checking out. I have never left a negative review about a property but this is a hard avoid for a family.

close to the hospital, so many ambulances at night a lot of people hanging around on the street day and night

This is a good spot for touring Washington. Metro next door. short trip to Dupont and Navy Yard

Nice location next to the theatre. Very convenient for the metro. Good views of the capitol building. Very spacious and clean..Good appliances and TV with all the good apps.
