Everybody is always so nice. Great location. The area feels safer than around some of the other hotels. Easy walk to the Tabernacle.
It’s under construction, but that’s only temporary.

The front desk staff were amazing! They went above and beyond to insure my son had an amazing birthday.
The kitchen at beakfast was running a little slow. There was a lot of confusion with the staff.

The location was great, when they finish remodeling it would be much easier to find the entrance. The building is well taken care of and the staff was super helpful and accommodating! The area is downtown Atlanta so you never know who you’ll meet but there were food options and stores in walking distance.
I wish it could stay a doubletree beacause it’s the only one in downtown/midtown Atlanta!

The hotel's location is excellent. In 5 minutes, you can walk to the Olympic Park, Georgia Aquarium, and the World of Coca-Cola. The nearest subway station, which takes you directly to the airport, is also 5 minutes away. In front of the hotel is a streetcar station (Carnegie at Spring). You can use that to go to the MLK historic site.
I did not know that the hotel parking was expensive ($50/day). If you drive to the hotel, you should be careful.

Nothing. The location didn’t tell us they were under construction and there was no way into the building. We called multiple times and no one answered. A homeless man outside was nice enough to tell us it was under construction but when he asked for money and we didn’t provide any he became quite mad. We didn’t even stay here and now they refuse to refund us our money.

Great location. Friendly staff. Felt safe and secure. Cute decor.
Walls are very thin and could hear the couple in the room next to us clearly. Vallet only parking.

The location is wonderful, easily walkable to MARTA, State Farm Arena, Aquarium and other attractions. It was comfortable to work in, even though they’re under renovations.

Ampia camera, ben insonorizzata, letti comodi, aria condizionata funzionante e silenziosa.

From the moment we entered The American Hotel, I knew it was special! The welcome we received from all employees was so kind and gave us an immediate sense of home. When the staff found out it was my daughter's birthday weekend, they were quick to offer her goodies and even a birthday card! The friendly staff, decorative vibes, historical contexts, safety, amazing breakfast and exemplarily hospitality of this hotel has made it one of my favorites! This hotel understands that travel should be that of human interaction, laughter, kindness, beauty and relaxation. The employees of The American should be very proud of themselves and their commitment to excellence!
All was great! There is some remodeling taking place in the hotel, but it wasn't noisy nor creating disruption.

Great location! Walking distance to many restaurants and tourists hotspots! Beautiful view from balcony! Friendly host!
Construction! Valet a bit much! Room service did not replace bathroom with fresh towels- had to call front desk-

Nice room, fluffy bed
I wish there was a larger breakfast option, I understand with covid people are being careful though.
Option to use Netflix or Hulu without Chrome cast would be nice. Smart TV.? Microwave? Nice hotels dont have microwaves or smart tvs for some reason

I liked everything about the hotel.
I don't like that you have to pay to park your vehicle if you are staying there that should comes with your stay $55 dollars is tooo much per day. And my room was freezing I tried Turing the heat on but it was still blowing out cold air. But overall it was a great experience and stay

After I made a non-refundable booking via Booking website, they emailed me to say there would be works done at the hotel during my stay. This was not advertised and it was highly unprofessional for me to find out only after having made the booking which was non-refundable. I tried speaking to the staff via the Booking messaging, but it took me days to get a decent reply.
When we arrived, the reception was essentially a desk by the bar (likely due to the works mentioned above) - usually, this wouldn’t be an issue, but on our last day we had a few hours to spend there before heading to the airport for a late evening flight, and there was no lounge area.
Additionally, we had breakfast every day there (4 days). Each morning we were paying $15 pp for breakfast (which wasn’t even tasty - same things every day and the toaster wasn’t working well). On our last day, we were shocked to receive a bill for $24.99 pp for breakfast!! Bare in mind, the buffet was EXACTLY the same as the day before. I asked the staff why this was the case, and they explained that they decided to increase the price overnight. It was very unprofessional of them not to mention anything about the change of price before we sat down for breakfast on that day - I discussed with the manager and they agreed to reduce the price of the bill for the last breakfast there. Thankfully, it was our last day - otherwise, I would have moved to another hotel.
Some members of staff were friendly and professional. Some others, particularly rude and unpleasant - like the lady I spoke with before checking out on my last day.
Overall, a disappointing stay at this hotel and would not recommend to others.

Great location. Close to Atlanta Aquarium where we went. Our room is nice and clean. We have the balcony where we can see downtown,CNN and Centennial Olympic Park. Check in process is fast. Staff is great.
Valet parking is expensive.

I liked that it was close to the race I was running.
I did not like the fact that I booked this hotel on booking.com and said it would be $190.17 WITH TAXES! I knew going into it I was using valet parking and i would be charged $50 more for that. However, once I got to the hotel and had to pay before my stay I got charged $270.42. The guy at the front desk said it’s for extra charges and fees. I’ve never experienced that in my life. And any time I book any hotel and use booking I’ve never had to pay a penny over what booking.com said. I feel like they screwed me out of money and I will never stay at this hotel again.
My mother who also stayed had the exact same thing happen to her. They charged her over $100 more than she thought she’d be charged. It’s ridiculous! Even after they said if she didn’t use certain things like valet she would get the money back after her stay and they never returned her money. She had to call booking.com and THEY refunded her. Even though the hotel was the one who upcharged. It’s insane!!

The staff at the reception was not good he gave us wrong info about breakfast that we had to pay for and not nice

Staff was less than enthusiastic and professional

Very clean, perfect area surrounding eateries. So much in walking distance such as the park, Margaritaville, the arena
Lack of price clarification. Valet was $55 but it’s required because they don’t allow self parking. If you are going to be in and out of the hotel it is very costly because it’s not a one time fee

the restaurant downstairs was good! bartender was nice staff was nice
the pool wasn’t cleaned and the balcony wasn’t what was in the picture upon booking rooms were also very small.

Undergoing needed renovation. Valet parking.
Too bad that the outside from the original 60’s place was completely changed.
The finishings of the new renovation could be better. The room was noisy with a water trickling noise that did not emanate from the bathroom and a ventilation noise even though the a/c was turned off.
