The breakfast was a very nice and served in a formal dining room by the hosts. I was hoping for a more homey experience after a week in standard hotels the I was not disappointed. The building and decorum is very 19th/20th century family. Somewhat unexpected was the pool in the back. Location was nice and walking distance to Louise's Restaurant where we had dinner, which hadn't changed in 20 years since we have last visited. It was a hot summer and the room was very well air conditioned with two window units. The hosts were helpful with getting oriented.
We were on top floor of main house, so lots of steps, so maybe ask about that when reserving if an issue. However, the biggest issue was the bed - a super thick mattress on top of a box bring and elevated period bed frame seemed dangerously high for safe sleeping. We felt like Carol Burnett in Princess and Pea skit. Fortunately they had a step stool (really!) or my wife would not have been able to get on or off. Hosts recognised the issue, but said this was all that was on sale currently, but I think they need to deal with that or someone will get hurt!
