It was perfect for my two daughters and me! The view was gorgeous and peaceful since the property backs up to a nature preserve, which was a great place to take a peaceful walk. It felt like we were off in the woods by ourselves. I was a bit concerned about the previous review (jacuzzi and cleanliness), but the jacuzzi worked great and I throught the place was quite clean (except for the rugs which could be cleaned, but pets and people walk on those constantly, so that didn't bother me). Renters should know that there are about 38 stair steps down to the house from the parking spot and be prepared to carry luggage etc down and up (at 7000 ft elevation!). Think of it as a mini-workout! We had a great time!

Location is beautiful. The hot tub was luke warm and we were unable to adjust the settings and the water did look a bit murky. The couches and carpet in the living room were filthy. The bathroom sink smelled like mildew and the plastic shower curtain was dirty. The extra sheets in the hallway closet were filled with dog hair and what felt like sand or dirt. The kitchen is fully stocked with cutlery and cooking items. The beds were comfortable.

It’s very cute and semi clean, but the 2 flights of stairs down to cabin and up to the car was hard with luggage and firewood, the couch is stained and pullout bed was a bit dirty. The beds are tempurpedic and hard as a rock, jacuzzi water was old and murky.. Location was a bit out of the way and I couldn’t imagine driving up or down that neighborhood during a blizzard.

This cabin is in a great location, overlooking the San Bernardino National Forest. I enjoyed many morning coffees and afternoon beverages on the porch looking out at nature and reading my book. Would recommend to anyone who wants to escape into nature but still have electricity, running water, and wifi access!

Cabin was clean, cozy and secluded with pretty sunrise views, but the jacuzzi water was murky and gross, the beds were hard as a rock, pull out sofa was uncomfortable as well as some questionable stains on it. Location was a bit out of the way, couldn’t imagine getting there in a blizzard, forget that, and two flights of stairs with all our luggage was horrible. So overall it was just ok.

It was okay. We arrived wanting to get in spa, they made a big deal how clean it was and renter needed to keep clean too and we get there and it is dirty. My favorite part was the property manager telling me it was clean when I’m talking to her on the phone and it dirty. Whole thing ruined the stay. Still nice home owners need a new property manager.

This was exactly what we needed… Peaceful/relaxing atmosphere… A perfect getaway!
You should be aware that there are 40 steps (pretty steep) to get down to the property (and back up again when you leave).

We had a great stay at The Overlook! This was the first time we used Vrbo to book and the process was similar to others. I was vaguely concerned that we had to sign a contract even though we reserved the cabin through a booking app but it turned out fine. The cabin was as expected and suited our needs well. The only hiccup we weren’t informed about was the two flights of stairs to get to the front door. It made loading/unloading our stuff rather tedious. It would have been nice to have known this about the property before booking (I was imagining visiting with my grandmother and trying to get her up and down the stairs). Other than that though our experience was delightful and we would recommend this property.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay here. It was a great get away and was super relaxing. Awesome views and close to the downtown. Renting it was very as well and the staff is quite friendly.

Beautiful escape but be prepared
We are a family of 6. It was tight. We didn’t use the pull-out bc it had food crumbs on it, but were able to sleep well. It snowed a lot and luckily we had 4-wheel drive. We had to shovel ourselves out. Home was clean and very warm. Beautiful views from the porch. We sledded in the backyard. 15 min drive to ski (would’ve been faster without icy roads). It did the job and we had fun regardless.

We enjoyed our stay at this cute house. It was clean and had plenty of blankets/pillows/towels for our stay. The heater kept us nice and warm from the outside cold. We appreciated how quickly we had hot water from the sinks and shower, which is a blessing when it’s so cold. The view they had from their deck was so beautiful, it looked fake!
We happened to arrive the day after Christmas, and it snowed all day and night. Due to that, the roads can be a little scary down the windy hills. Definitely bring chains if there’s any kind of snow, whether you have 4-wheel drive or not.

Winter Getaway Beauty
We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The water heated up quickly in the bathroom, which is appreciated. The heater also kept us comfortably warm from the outside cold. The only reason I didn’t give this home 5 stars is because it wasn’t a little closer to town...the winding (sometimes steep) streets, especially when it’s snowing, made the drive a little worrisome for me. There were several cars unable to make some of the hills, and some caused accidents.....obviously not the homeowner’s fault, but something to consider.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

There is a lot to like about this property. If you want peace and quiet and an escape from the city and heat of summer it is great. The interior of the unit is well apportioned. No doubt it is a little small, but for the 3 of us, it worked out very well. The deck is a great spot for morning coffee or late cocktail. We did see several coyotes while there and other smaller wildlife. The unit sits below the main road, and has a staircase of nearly 40 stairs that take you from the road to the unit. It provides great isolation and overall we liked it, but if you don't like to climb stairs, it might not be for you. Because of its isolation, it may seem a bit removed from services and the lake, which it is. A sold 10-minute drive to the lake and key services, but the isolation, peace and quiet made up for it. Only major complaint was the management company itself. The service manager who will be your point of contact was initially accommodating and open to an early check-in (we offered to pay extra for said early check-in), asked me to text him the day of our arrival if we were going to want an early check in which I did. Then when we arrived at noon, he was completely unresponsive to phone calls, and returned a text message when we arrived at their locked office location to sign papers with a curt "I told you our check-in time isn't until 3." At which time, I called the person who assisted in reserving the cabin and she accommodated saying, it is available now, and I will be right there to help you with the papers and get you the keys. The service manager's willingness to go the extra mile was obviously nonexistence, and his curt response to text was not appreciated. Just simply not acceptable to not return phone calls, then send passive aggressive responses. That alone has me questioning if I will ever do business with the this property management group again, much less recommend that anybody in my social sphere should as well.

We absolutely love this place
Four of us stayed at Overlook Retreat this past weekend and really loved the place. Starting with the location which is very secluded with a lot of privacy and amazing views. The cabin was very charming and extremely clean. Fully equipped with everything we needed for a fun and comfortable stay!
