New comfortable and charming apartment in historic Alfama.
About this apartment rental
This cosy apartment is located in a quiet, pedestrian street of Alfama. The historic building has been completely rebuilt (2012) and, although the façade has been preserved, the interior is completely new: one spacious living room with kitchenette and river view, one bedroom and one bathroom. The apartment offers all modern facilities and is fully equipped. Free Internet, towels and bed linen are also provided. Only a few steps away you can take the popular tram 28 that rides the scenic tour of Lisbon hills. Check the miradouros nearby and enjoy the dazzling views: Lisbon’s rooftops, church towers and the Tagus. There are Fado restaurants, cafés and tradicional shops, all in the area. The area is also well served with public transports (Bus, Taxis, Metro and Train). You can explore the rest of the city and return easily! During your stay, we will do our best to make you feel our apartment as your Lisbon home.

There was some miscommunication on my end regarding checking in. But João was amazing and made it work in record time. The location is perfect for staying in Alfama. Within walking distance if not only food and markets, but almost every landmark you’d want to see in Lisbon. The bedroom is like a cave and I’ve never slept so well while traveling. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Alfama, look no further.

I think to get a better review the owner should wait for people to come at the condo, give a key, explain and answer the questions.

Clean, compact and all you could ask for from a city centre apartment.

Always in love with Alfama
Alfama is so enchanting and definitely electric during the evenings of June (read: much late night street noise due to the celebrations of Ste. Anthony). The balcony provided a lovely view of a pedestrian only street and the neighborhood streamers. My teenaged daughters were quite comfortable on the sofa bed as I was in the bedroom. Basic amenities were provided including linens and soaps for body and laundry.
The washing machine was necessary for our week long stay as we travel quite light, but we had to get creative with drying as the apartment is not equipped with an clothes line outside the balcony (as is typical in Alfama) or a drying rack.
I would suggest to the owner an electric fan or two to move the humid air and to help block out street and apartment noise, a new carpet in the living area (although a nice touch, the current carpet is too dingy to be appealing), and a more thorough check of bed covers - I washed a duvet cover myself as it was visibly dirty. Although not expected, a Nespresso machine and basic pantry items would be lovely touches as well.
Those not familiar with Alfama should learn that there are many stairs and hills throughout the neighborhood and that the market is located in Apolonia Station.
Planning on returning to Alfama, I would definitely book João’s apartment again.

Our host was extremely helpful when airline delays caused us to arrive well after midnight. The apartment is located on a quieter passage in an Alfama district made busy by a month long festival, and has a charming view of the old quarter. It is well-equipped, with good public transport options within a few minutes walk at both the top and bottom of the hill. It's a good place to experience life in Lisbon.

Our host was great. The Alfama district, where the condo is located, can be confusing, but our host gave us perfect directions to find it. The location of the condo provided a perfect launching point to get to many great restaurants and points of interest. The condo itself was perfect. The bedroom was quiet and dark, so you can catch up on sleep and recharge for the next day. Everything was clean and in good working order. When I return to Lisbon, this will be the place I stay, if available. Chhers!

A real little gem in the heart of the old town, Lisbon
This is a compact but excellently equipped apartment in the heart of the old town. The property is situated in one of the original, old cobbled streets so there are no cars. However it's a short walk from the centre of Lisbon and conveniently located for train, metro and the 28 tram. A short (steep) stroll takes you to 'the viewing point' that everyone flocks to. An excellent choice of restaurants is on your doorstep and this is the Fado quarter so many offer live music.
There are river glimses from the apartment. The apartment is clean and fresh and has everything needed. The owner is delightful and the bottle of wine chilling in the fridge was a nice touch.
With close proximity to the City centre this is an ideal location. Highly recommended.

Adorable little apartment close to the historic No. 28 tram route
We had a lovely three night stay at João’s apartment in picturesque Alfama neighbourhood. The place was lively, but not noisy, at night with traditional Fado entertainment, restaurants and cafes. We took the No.28 tram (a lovely experience in itself) into town very easily from the Port de Sol nearby. We were able to fit in loads of sightseeing as everywhere was accessible by public transport. Eating at The Teatro Mini Bar was one of the highlights of the trip, plus Torre de Belém, Time Out Market, Escher exhibition, Santa Justa Elevador, National Tile Museum and more. João greeted us with wine and biscuits and was the perfect host. Emma and Neil

Great location, nicely appointed, friendly and helpful host.
We were looking for somewhere in the old quarter, and were pleased with how the apartment was central there and, while being modern, in amongst the everyday residents.

The apartment is a nice size for two. Located on a quiet street in the pedestrian Alfama.
Nice bright main room with nice window and balcony overlooking a quiet street in Alfama neighborhood. The bedroom is tucked away and stays dark for optimal sleeping. Bathroom was clean. Overall a very nice apartment. Half of the fun of staying in this neighborhood is getting lost in the winding pedestrian streets! Enjoy!

Beautifully restored in quiet ancient neighborhood. Best neighborhood in Lisbon, close to train station cafes and markets. No cars.

Lovely apartment
This is a lovely modern, well kept apartment in a great area of Alfama. It's close to the Portas Do Sol stop for the 28 Tram which is handy when coming back up from the town, (this spot is also a great place for a beer on the terrace overlooking Alfama for note!). Only slight flaw we found was there is no air-conditioning in the apartment, and we had a couple of particularly hot days/nights so we struggled slightly, though there was a portable fan we could use.
Joao was great, he was waiting at the apartment for us even though is was quite late, and had provided some lovely biscuits and wine!
Thanks for a nice stay Joao!

Lovely Apartment.
Situated in the heart of Alfama, the apartment is cozy, bright, very clean and well equipped. We were met by the owner at the agreed upon time and he was very welcoming. The on line photos are exactly what you get.
We were able to walk to many restaurants and shops including the St. Jorge Castle, a must see, as well as further afield without any problem. Lisbon is a fantastic city to explore on foot. Don't miss taking the famous Tram 28 as well as Tram 12. A great experience.
We would definitely return to this rental and indeed hope to do so in the fall.

Great apartment, great location, wonderful owner
This was a great location, we came to know the city well while we were there and the Alfama district is the most interesting place to be in Lisbon. The apartment itself was wonderful. Very, very clean, modern and up to date and equipped with all necessary conveniences. Joao, the owner was great to deal with from beginning to end I wholeheartedly recommend this to one and all.

We had a great stay!
We had a great stay in Joao's apartment in the quaint Alfama neighborhood! The apartment was perfect for our stay in Lisbon and Joao made us feel right at home. Everything was impeccably clean and the entire building is up-dated and modern. Joao was readily available to answer any questions we had that came up during the week (no matter how weird they were!). We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Lisbon!

Fabulous apartment - Wonderful area
Finding and staying in this apartment made our stay in Lisbon much more than just a typical tourist stop. We felt like we were living with "locals." The apartment was modern, clean, and comfortable. Fruit, wine, and biscuits were left for us to enjoy. After walking all over Lisbon, we also decided that the apartment's location was in our favorite area - Alfama. Very friendly people, narrow cobblestone alleyways and streets, hills and stairs, small shops, restaurants, fado, great architecture, no hotels (at least none we noticed), all describe this neighborhood. Public transportation is nearby if you prefer to ride instead of walk to other areas of Lisbon, or if you want to explore beyond the city limits.
Joao was extremely helpful both before and during our stay. We would highly recommend this location and apartment to anyone visiting Lisbon. If you are traveling with heavy luggage, the only suggestion I would make would be to ask for walking directions to the apartment that do not include stairs. It would be a bit longer, but easier rolling the luggage. Again, this apartment was perfect for us. And, best of all, the price was very, very reasonable.

It could not be better!
We just loved this apartment! Brand new interior with all the modern appliances in the very heart of Alfama district and only a short walk from other beautiful districs like Baixa and Chiado. Portas del Sol view point to Lisbon and the tram stops are only 3 minute walk away from the apartment! In the corner cafeteria you will find delicious pastries with local prices and whats great - your neighbours are locals so its gives you a great insight to the real Alfama live! I can not miss to mention the great hospitality of Isabel and Joao. I can not think of a better place to stay in Lisbon! Enjoy it as we did!

Perfect.
This apartment is massively undersold; it has to be one of the best places to stay in Lisbon, and incredible value for money. The apartment is clean and modern, the bathroom especially is wonderful. The Alfama streets surrounding the apartment are absolutely beautiful; we stayed here having come from Paris, St. Petersburg, and Rome, and this place was like a combination of all three. We walked almost everyday either into and across the very centre of Lisbon, or to Cais Sodre (where you can get the train to Cascais), and this was no problem; Rossio is barely 15 minutes walk. The people who run the little shops and restaurants (the cafeteria run by the two ladies next to the Alfama Grill is particularly good, they cooked me steak and chips at 11pm to take away) are all run by some of the most welcoming people me and my girlfriend have encountered on holiday. This apartment will exceed your expectations. I am the sort of person who obsesses over selecting the right place to go, the right place to stay etc, and I want everything to be perfect. This apartment was. It is the sort of place that makes you consider making the owners an offer for it! You won't want to leave. Thank you again to the Boavida's for being so welcoming and helpful. Stay here, you have found the right one.

A wonderful place to Stay in the Heart of Alfalma
This was a lovely apartment. I was very clean, nicely decorated and was very modern. The apartment is within walking distance of many resturants and attractions and very close to the metro and bus stations so you it is very easy to plan a nice day trip to anywhere. Isabel was very kind and made sure we felt welcome. This is a great place for a couple to get away!
