Grand Historical Home, Gated Parking, Near FQ, St Charles, Trolley, Parades
About this house rental
Situated in New Orleans, this lovely house for £288 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. The Napoleon was built in the late 1870's, this grand mansion is one of New Orleans finest in architectural design. Imagine yourself in the late 1800's living in a southern mansion that boasted the finest in European chandeliers, iron work and stained glass windows, all along an oak tree lined avenue. This home has the finest of furnishings in close proximity to the St. Charles streetcar line that can take you from the Central Business District, French Quarter or to the the Uptown are that includes Audubon Park and Tulane and Loyola Universities. Come enjoy one of the greatest American cities that welcome tourist's as if it were your home 'somewhere in time'. Given the architectural beauty of this nearly 7,000 square foot home, the bedrooms are expansive with large doors and windows, and tall ceilings. What is gorgeous about this unit is after walking through the leaded front doors, there is the expanse of a plaster archway that adjoins the living and dining room into a double parlor. The living room then showcases 14' pocket doors. The property is on three city lots and has lush gardens all around the home for you to enjoy the open air, yet private spaces. Both off-street and on-street parking is available. Off-street parking is within a fenced and gated property. Walk the neighborhoods and you'll find the best restaurants in New Orleans as voted on by the locals. Look for Shaya's (was #1 in the U.S.), La Petit Grocery, Theo's, Sukho Thai, Appoline, La Boulangerie (French Bakery-my favorite), Haiku Sushi, Superior Seafood, Surrey's and so many more. If you're looking for pubs, consider Ms. Mae's. It's been open for generations! Don't forget Tipitina's! Tipitina's is well-known and home to Professor Longhair. Besides good drinks, it has GREAT music!

Lovely old home in the garden district. Easy walk to Magazine St and restaurants. You can hear street noise in the front 2 bedrooms so bring earplugs if that bothers you. We slept fine and the beds and linens are very comfortable. Funky bathroom situation but our party of 5 women easily made it work.

We booked in Jan.in order to have a comfortable and historic stay near the streetcar line in New Orleans- my family was there to attend a memorial service for my mother. Altogether, the rental served our 4 adults and 5 children comfortably. Napoleon house is a "grand old house" and there are portions of it that really speak to its glory years.I am guessing late 19th century or a bit past. If you are considering, take note that the house is split into several units. For example, the front porch has doors to two units; one upstairs and one at landing level.
The living/dining area was a great place for the adults to hang out. We established a kid's zone behind the kitchen where all the cousins played. This was very convenient. There was no lack of bathrooms, although the front bedroom with the king lacked an ensuite but accessed a hallway bathroom with small shower. That was the bathroom I used during the trip as it made sense for my daughter to have the bathroom with laundry (she has 3 children) and a tub.
I am generally not picky about furnishings or odd floor changes in vrbos. I don't even really care too much if the paint is chipping or door latches instead of locks are used, but I am fairly picky about cleanliness as it regards the floors. I dropped a toothbrush on the bathroom floor and decided upon retrieving it, it was covered with gunk from between the sink and wall. There is a substantial cleaning fee and for the money, I would not stay here again. Needs improvement.

Everything was perfect! This beautiful old home could not have been better for a family to spread out and enjoy! I commend the owners for keeping it in such fabulous shape. It was beautiful, spacious, & in one of the best locations in New Orleans!

we loved the location of this property- a block form a park for the kids, right off Magazine for shopping and good eats, fenced in yard so the kids could hang outside by themselves and the perfect distance for all the other NOLA needs. The house is very spacious for a family. I sure you all are books years in advance for Marie Gras but a great spot for family Mardi Gras!

Overall, this is a very nice gathering spot for a group of friends looking to experience New Orleans. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the home is nicely furnished. The layout of the bathrooms and bedrooms is a little unusual, with only the master BR having it's own full bath. A second BR has a half bath (no shower), & the 3rd BR has an adjacent 1/2 bath (no toilet). Finally, there is 1 common area full bath near the living room/ kitchen. Kitchen is stocked with the basics but "extras" are limited to salt and pepper . The large front porch was a lovely spot to gather and location is walking distance to shops and restaurants, and only a couple blocks from the street car. The host was very responsive.

We picked this property because of the historic location and look of the house. The inside of the house was very much like the photos. The house had a very historic feel to it and we loved how everything was set up. The beds did seem a little smaller than what was shown in the photos and one bathroom had a remodeled shower that was a little difficult for taller adults to use, due to it's size. However, the safety of the property, convenience of the location and parking are one of the best features! The host, Liz, was exceptional! We had a tiny problem with another shower and she came over immediately and helped fix it. She stayed in great communication with us before our stay and always answered questions in a timely manner. We all loved our stay at this property and are already looking forward to our next trip back!

Second time staying at this property and it was just how I remembered! Big rooms and good AC!! Best house in uptown!

We rented this house for my best friend’s bachelorette party and I cannot say enough amazing things about our trip.
First, the communication with Liz was stellar. She was able to accommodate our request for an extra hour to check out, and, when there was a minor issue with the house, she graciously allowed us to use a second unit at no cost.
The house itself is gorgeous, very reminiscent of original New Orleans homes. We spent a lot of time on the front porch watching everyone walking down the street. There was also easy access parking for those of us who drove.
Lastly, the location was amazing! For a house of women we never felt uncomfortable or unsafe in the area. We spent lots of time walking Magazine Street and there is a wonderful coffee show and bakery just .5 miles away.
Overall, we would chose to stay here again in a heartbeat!

No basics provided, we purchases antibacterial soap & wipes, shampoo, body soap, paper towels and toilet paper. Bedspreads dry clean only. 1 towel per person, no extras. AC did not work properly and was load in all 2 of the bedrooms. Large iron gate is heavy and hassle to open and shut when coming & going but provides vehicle security.

Our group of 6 adults had a wonderful stay at the Napoleon House. It was a short walk to the street car as well as some other points of interest. The front porch was a perfect gathering spot each morning as we planned out our days activities. And the neighborhood felt very safe and was generally quiet. I would highly recommend this beautiful historic home if you are planning a trip to NOLA.

We had a blast at this home. The house is spectacular and you can feel the history in it. The location is perfect for a walk to magazine street or to the street car. The porch was a nice hang out. There could have been a few more toiletries, like hand soap in the bathrooms would have been great. Other than that, everything was awesome. I would definitely recommend this rental. Hopefully we can come back some day! Thanks so much!

Our group of six adults and two teenagers enjoyed the spaciousness of this Uptown-on-the-border-of-Garden District located home. The arrangement of the bedrooms gave each couple privacy but allowed us to come together and enjoy the shared space. It served as our base for a week-long New Orleans holiday. We spent lazy mornings drinking coffee while planning our day on the covered porch and used the well appointed kitchen to cook dinners when we weren’t out enjoying Creole or Cajun meals. Our hosts were attentive and gracious. We all agreed this should be our base for future visits to the The Big Easy.

This is a grand old property in an excellent location, but it in need of updates and repairs. So much so that there were roofing repairs going on almost every waking hour of our stay. Debris falling from the roof to the grounds, constant hammering. The host did not divulge any repairs during our stay. She did show up briefly to inform us after the construction crew were already working. This work went on through our weekend and when I tried to contact the host there was no answer. So congrats, you get my first and only 1 star review. You’re lucky no one was hurt.
