About this house rental
Situated in Asheville, this lovely house for £437 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Summer Special: Book a week and only pay for six nights, June 1 thru September 6! (If you love this house but it's booked for your dates, please see my other large home: The art-filled Potter's House at 1050595.) Now, about the house: Looking for the perfect combination of modern convenience, lodge-like settings, secluded woods, mountain views, and art-filled decor -- but still close to everything? TreeTops Lodge is for you. At 4,400 square feet, this contemporary cathedral-ceilinged house has all the upgrades of modern living -- luxurious baths, granite countertops with state-of-the-art appliances -- but with the feel of an old lodge, nestled in the woods, 1000 feet above Asheville with ever-changing woods and long-range views. With an enclosed sun porch, a private deck on the ground level and expansive patio/deck off the living room (complete with patio furniture for 12 and a BBQ grill), the outdoor space rivals the indoor! From the main deck, you have northeastern and southern views of the nearby ridges, and lush greenery (or fiery fall foliage!) within reach. The house features a cathedral ceiling living room with fireplace focal point, deep plush armchairs and sofas with two distinct seating areas. The nearby dining room features a massive dining table that can seat 14, hand-made by a local artisan using local sustainably harvested hemlock. Both the high-ceilinged living room and dining room contain art pieces I have acquired over the years, much of which is by local River Arts District weavers, potters, sculptors and oil painters. Whether you cook every meal at home, or just grab a bite in the morning and sample the great local restaurant at night, you'll appreciate the massive kitchen off the living room, with its own six-person breakfast nook, ample granite countertops, two refrigerators, two ovens, two sinks, and state-of-the-art gas appliances. Beyond the kitchen in the south wing is the master bedroom with king bed and a trundle daybed that sleeps two more, with the largest of the private bathrooms with jacuzzi tub, walk-in shower, double vanity and giant walk-in closet. The Mission-style king bed and daybed in this room were both hand-crafted by a local artisan using locally source Appalachian pine. The other two large king-bed bedrooms on the main floor are in the north wing. They share one and half baths, including a large marble-lined shower. The plantation-style king in one room is also handmade by the same artisan who build the Mission bed in the Master. The other king headboard is made from two queen headboards that Asheville's historic Grove Park Inn used in the 1920s which were sold to the public in 1976 when the Inn was remodeled. Both rooms also feature local art. Downstairs features a very large family room with regulation-sized pool table, a second small kitchen and bar, an additional two full baths bath -- and the remaining three bedrooms - a queen room that sleeps two, a room with two twin-over-full bunkthat sleeps four (or even 6) and the kids' "bunkhouse" bedroom with two bunk beds for four more. That adds up to a total sleeping count of 20. The house, however, is not designed to support 20 adults. The bunks are better used for kids, and I generally prefer to rent to no more than 12 adults. Most of my booking are large extended families coming to Asheville for family events like a wedding or a reunion. I try to be thoughtful of the neighbors, and renting to families keeps the number of cars and noise level in the neighborhood to a minimum. I ask guest to please park in the large driveway and parking pad, not on the main road, as a courtesy to my neighbors. The house is situated on a steep hill, surrounded by 3.5 acres of forest, out of sight from neighbors. The road to the house and the driveway are NOT steep. But with the hillside falling off quickly below the house, there is not a lot of yard. The huge deck seems to float among the tree tops, offering shade when you want it, but magical views of far-off mountains. It will be easy to forget that you are less than a mile from Starbucks, fine dining, groceries, breweries and other conveniences. The house itself is on level ground, with only one step up onto the porch to enter. Once in the house (up that one step), the entire main floor and deck are handicap accessible and wheel-chair friendly. Past guests with elderly or frail parents or grandparents have found the house well-suited to those with limited mobility. There is a portable wheelchair ramp in the hall closet near the front door that can be used for that one front step. I have lived in or visited Asheville on and off for more than 20 years. This house is my home about three months of the year. There is so much to do and see here. If you are planning a trip, book tickets to the Biltmore early. My house has lots of brochures about other local activities, and I can always provide a restaurant idea or two. I hope you will choose to stay at TreeTops Lodge. Regardless of where you choose to stay, and whether you are coming for the art or the beer, please enjoy your time in America's most magical and relaxed mountain town. I do not advertise on craigslist. If you see the ad there it is a scam. Please report it! If you are more than 12 people, I may have to raise the cleaning fee by $100. It can take two people most of a day to clean up after larger groups. If your stay creates a "turn" where staff only have five hour to prepare the house for the next guests, I will also need to charge an additional $100. I value my cleaning staff and there families, and I compensate my cleaning team ( and landscaping and maintenance people) and at a living wage, well above the minimum. Please join me in supporting our service workers in Asheville's tourist economy!

My friends and I stayed here for a long weekend and the house is wonderful. It's 5 minutes from town and sits on tops of the mountain with a beautiful view!

Thanks so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful house! It was absolutely perfect for us. Spacious, clean & beautiful location only a 1.5 mile drive to town, but the feel of a cabin away from it all.
We hope to be back next year and would certainly recommend this place for any group or family visiting Asheville.
Cheers,
Caleb K.

We had a great time in Asheville. This property was perfect for our family to gather and spend time together. Lovely, light, large open plan which was great for gathering and plenty of rooms so everyone had their space. Loved hiking, Biltmore and visiting several breweries.

Nine of us enjoyed our stay, plenty of room to spread out or be together. Huge dining table where we could all eat together. Kitchen had all the dishes, pots, and pans we needed for cooking and eating in. (Our only complaint was that some pans weren't as clean as they should have been, but that was an easy fix.)
We stayed over the Christmas holidays, house was decorated to make it quite festive.
The location worked for us, although the driveway could be a bit challenging. We were able to travel to Chimney Rock, Brevard, The Biltmore, and visit downtown Asheville.
And to top it off, we saw a bear and snow flurries!

The house is lovely and very private. Location is great re Grove Park and Biltmore. Its decor is as advertised. Had some bugs but not worth noting vs advising manager.

We had a large group for a weekend reunion. The house was perfect, with views over a beautiful valley yet only minutes from town. We cooked a number of meals and had everything we needed. Thank you!

We had such a great time at this house. There was ample space for everyone in our group. We wouldn’t have been able to enjoy each other if we stayed in a hotel. This house has everything you need! Driveway is dicey but that is how Asheville is! No problem getting Uber and Lyft. Beautiful property!

This property has everything you need for a fabulous vacation! The location is perfect! You can quickly get to downtown for whatever you need or stay home and enjoy all of your meals on the deck in a peaceful setting! Plenty of space to spread out if with a large group! I highly recommend this property!

We very much enjoyed our stay in this house. There was plenty of room for 7 of us, and the open living room, sunroom, and patio were ideal for our gatherings. The views are lovely (we did see a bear during a drive into town). Don't hesitate to rent this house: it's ideal for large groups.

This was a great house for our group of 9 college friends on a golf trip - plenty of room to spread out, plenty of beds and bathrooms. Family room and basement with pool table were also great. Had everything you needed in the kitchen - plenty of everything. It does feel remote but it is really close to downtown Asheville. Would rent it again.

Great place to stay in the mountains and just minutes from downtown. There was plenty of space for our entire family. We enjoyed cooking on the grill and eating on the deck. The kids were thrilled to see the multiple bears sightings. We would definitely stay here again.

We had plenty of space and really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely choose this for our next family trip to Asheville!

We loved this place. It was so nice to feel like you were away from the city but then be able to drive in with a very short ride! There was plenty of space and our group was able to feel comfortable and spread out for both work and relaxation. If I ever come with a group to Asheville again we'll definitely try to stay here!

First, the property description implied “you will feel like you are in the mountains” was accurate! The winding roads leading to the house let you know the property was off the beaten path despite its easy access to Asheville activities. And yes there are bears!
There were 9 of us with 4 kids ages 6-17; and 5 adults (40-77). Plenty of room with adults on the main floor who loved sprawling out on living room couches for an evening movie.
We recommend going to an Asheville Tourist minor league game, and especially stay for the fireworks if scheduled . Of course the Biltmore was wonderful and we spent an afternoon and evening at Sierra Nevada brewery (lawn chairs, blankets for kids). The kids got to run around.
We hosted the rest of our family who were staying elsewhere on Sunday night and managed to get the cars in the driveway to keep our “footprint” from disrupting the neighborhood. (Hint when parking your car: go to the top of the hill and head “down” which makes the best angle for backing into the driveway.) It was good that the warm weather kept us inside too.
The bathrooms are all updated and the kitchen stone counters were nice. The “older generation “ enjoyed the Mr Coffee, Keurig, and hot water pot for tea in the “coffee prep” area that had its own sink and small refrigerator in the end of the kitchen.
It was VERY hot in Asheville the day we arrived and were appreciative of a well/functioning AC that cooled the whole house very well.
Thanks!

The house was everything it was advertised to be. It had all of the things our family needed to make our stay enjoyable. Since the weather was nice we were able to enjoy the deck and sunroom. I highly recommend this house for a stay in Asheville. Surprisingly close to downtown but feels like you are in a remote setting.

We had a great stay in Asheville. House was exactly what we wanted with plenty of space. Location was excellent, and we even had some friendly bears stop by to say hello too.

The property is huge and in a great location close to downtown. It was clean and well stocked though could use a few upgrades. The process was easy and I would recommend for a large group.

Great home and nicely decorated. Mike is a great and very responsive host. He responds to all requests and questions promptly. When we got there, we noticed that there were not enough drink glasses so we messaged Mike to inform him. We even told him that it was not urgent and we could make do with what was there but he made sure to send someone with 4 sets of glasses so we would not be inconvenienced. The home is roomy and great for large families. We were 11 people but we still had enough space when we needed it but could be together for meals etc in the supersized living and dining rooms. Our trip was made even more special with several black bear sightings. Overall a fantastic house and would highly recommend it.

We loved our stay at Mountain Chateau! The home was incredibly spacious and provided everything we could have wanted for our stay! We brought our 18 month old and they even had a pack and play and highchair available so we didn’t have to bring our own! The master bedroom bed was uncomfortable and we informed Mike it should be replaced (lumpy and sloped inward). Furniture was older/well loved but that didn’t affect our stay. The home was very clean and we were grateful for that, especially with it being pet friendly! The kitchen had everything we needed utensil wise and baking/cooking wise and we were glad to be able to enjoy our meals in the large dining room! Family room was awesome and huge for gathering and late night chats. Thanks Mike we will be back!

Loved the house. My Dad and his twin brother celebrated their 80th birthday with the entire family. 14 all together and lots of room for everybody. Only left the house to go to dinner. Talked for hours and truly enjoyed just being together. They were so happy to have that time together. Best Birthday!

The house was exactly as listed and had ample space for the 13 people who came with. It was secluded enough that I felt like we were in the mountains but a quick Uber ride away from downtown Ashville. Really great place for friend and family to come together.

We absolutely loved this property! We had five couples and the seating and dining areas accommodated our group perfectly! We enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen and having evening cocktails while soaking up the warmth of the wood fireplace. It was a cold and snowy weekend or we would have spent more time in the lanai gazing out at the incredible view of the mountains! We’ll be definitely plan a return trip.

Great house with lots of space! House was easy to access with only a small dirt road section and the driveway was easy to get in and out of. Close to town and amazing views. Mike was also able to accommodate an early check in.

This was a very nice location and I was very happy that he had stuff for my infant. I had pack and brought with me but didn’t end up using it since the house already had it. Mike was very responsive and allowed us to check in early.

This was a beautiful property, thanks to its location you get to experience both the feel of being on a mountainside and quick easy trips right downtown (though it is not a 'walk' because of the mountain, it is only a mile and a bit from downtown) The house was well-stocked and they had even decorated for the holidays! Thank you again Mike for sharing your lovely home.
