Had a great stay! Very clean and excellent communication. Very easy to navigate, and had no issues at all!! Will definitely be back!!

Communication, location, and cleanliness all outstanding! Very comfortable and everything you could possibly need to cook meals. Road is close enough by to travel easy but far enough you don’t hear traffic. Private and gorgeous. The binoculars on the mantel were great to spot an eagle. Don’t miss this one.

Enjoyed staying a Bear Creek, beautiful home with a great fireplace and lots of room for the dogs to run! Quiet and private jet close to so much in the valley. This is a second stay and we will definitely be back!

We have stayed here several times over the years and it’s always a wonderful relaxing time in nature. The owner keeps it pristine and updated, and for those who treasure the simple pleasures of life and nature, as well as fishing and other outdoor experiences, it is a gem of a cabin and locale.

We’ve loved this place and was glad to share it with other members in the family. Great scenery and great fishing nearby.

The Driftless Area of Wisconsin is a special place, and this property captures every part of what makes it special. Beautiful walking trails run throughout the 80 acres which consists of agriculture, a creek, elevation, wild flowers, timber, etc. The house is beautiful with a fun, spiral stair case. There is plenty of comfy bedding and seating. The covered patio was perfect while it rained. The fire pit is a great spot for the evenings. The house was spotless. Barry was a kind and helpful host.
I can’t recommend this spot enough. My family typically rents two or three VRBO’s per year, and this is the first one we will most likely to return to.

Bear Creek Retreat is a wonderful place to stay. The creek flowing, and the views of the hills. My family and I had an absolutely amazing time and we were sad to leave! Barry was a great host and the whole check in and check out process was so easy! The beds are comfy, the house is adorable but most of our time was spent outside on the porch and by the fire pit or dipping our feet in the creek. We are definitely thinking about booking here again in the future!

Enjoyed fishing, grilling and having a fire every night!

This is a beautiful property that sits along winding streams. Great for watching the sun rise or set, while sitting on the porch, next to the streams or a bonfire. All the amenities for a tranquil family get away.

This is our 3rd annual stay at Bear Creek Retreat and it just keeps getting better! Beds are incredibly comfortable. coffee and hot cocoa by the fireplace on a colder night was just the ticket, the next night was warm and we sat around the campfire. Well stocked kitchen, great touches throughout. Clean, accessible, good communication—and walking along the creek is so rejuvenating. Thank you for another great year!!

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Barry's wonderful cabin. We have there twice in the went and once in the summer. We seem to bring cold weather in the winter, as once again it dropped to - 18 while we were there. It still is great to walk with the dog in the grove of pines. Barry has been a wonderful host, very responsive to questions. Are planning to go back this spring or fall. I can recommend Bear Creek enough. It was cosy even at - 18 with the new gas fireplace. See you soon Barry

We wanted to try a quick getaway with our dogs. Given the size of our oldest (160 pounds of love and cuddles) it can be hard to locate a rental. We loved the Beat Creek Resort! Walking the doggos on the trails was great! And the cozy cabin was perfect for the four of us to hang out, play board games, and relax away from the world. Can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful cabin. Clean and comfortable! Has everything you need! Inside & outside! In a great location. With the beautiful countryside surrounding you. Second time here. And we will be back! Thanks Barry! 😊

The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Everything was exceptionally clean and organized upon our arrival. The true star of the show is the property and the walks through it. Barry was a fantastic host too!

Great place to stay over weekend. Creek doesn’t have much fish to offer, we have caught only 2 small trouts.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The grounds were beautiful, especially with the leaves starting to turn colors. My husband loved the fishing right on the property. The owner was very helpful about the cabin and the local fishing, and restaurants.
A couple of additional comments:
- an excellent fishing/hunting cabin. I'm not a fan of all of the stuffed deer heads and pelts as decor, or the basement like floor throughout (although nicely done, a bit "cold" to me) - but it was fine for my husband, and he'll be back with his brothers for another fishing trip.
- there was an influx of ladybugs/beetles when we arrived which were a bit annoying but they were gone by the next morning. (The bottom of the screen on the main patio door needs some repair work.)
- everything needed was in the kitchen (no dishwasher)
- fire pit was amazing, we made a nice bonfire one night. Plenty of wood provided and comfy outdoor chairs.
- gas fireplace inside was better than no fireplace
- very large tv in main room
- nice shower
- we ended up buying bottled water, which I would suggest for drinking
- main floor bed seemed more like a full/double than a queen to us
- there was only two of us, so we didn't use the upstairs bedrooms - but there are a lot of beds up there for additional people. (I wouldn't enjoy the narrow spiral metal staircase in the middle of the night but I'm sure others, especially those younger, wouldn't mind.)
- while my husband was fishing, I walked the mowed paths around the property and took many great photos.

Nice place. We have stayed here in the past and really enjoyed the location and facility. Plenty of room. Easy access. Beautiful surroundings. Great host.

Not sure if the charm of the owner or the area was the most enjoyable.
Owner went above the call to show our group a warm welcome and set the stay up for pure enjoyment.
We caught the first tinge of fall color in the area and the property. The heavily treed ridge on the back edge of this large property was a source of beauty all day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The charming cabin was very clean and well furnished. Loved the babbling stream just steps from the cabin. Scenery is beautiful. Enjoyed the fire pit with ample supply of wood, and use of the cornhole game boards! Barry was friendly and very helpful! Would definitely stay again!

The most serene and beautiful location. The cabin is all you need with a huge awning and plenty of comfy chairs to keep from the rain. The creek is an added benefit as we've stayed several cabins in the Driftless. Not many with the creek right there!

Another great stay at Bear Creek Retreat. Such a clean and updated cabin with great communication from Barry. Family weekend for my husband’s birthday was relaxing and fun!

This is our favorite place to getaway to. It’s the perfect place to come just the two of us or with the whole family. It’s spacious and clean with the beautiful creek to go fishing or let the kids/dogs swim. Beautiful campfire set up and plenty of seating for all!

Beautiful countryside location. The place was spotless and well furnished. It’s very quiet and so relaxing. We got up and watched the early morning deer and birds while enjoying coffee on the lovely porch. There’s a Keurig coffee maker. 👍 The night sky was incredible! Bring some long pants for star gazing. Thank you Barry for being such a great host and allowing guests to experience the beauty of your land.

This home is wonderful and allowed my husband and I time to unplug and relax. Thanks Barry for letting our family enjoy your property. We had a wonderful time fishing almost everyday, watching deer and seeing so many different birds. The walking paths made it nice to get to all the good fishing spots and there were lots of different prairie flowers to enjoy. There are so many fun things to do around the area. We hiked in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, went to the Hillsboro Brewery (this place is amazing), shopped at Organic Valley, meet a lot of the locals from LaFarge, headed over to Rockton for the chicken que and spent a lot of time in the water enjoying the beautiful sun during the day and the fire at night. There is so much wood, you can have a nice fire every night. Our entire family loved the outdoor shower, I think we used this the majority of the time, we loved it. This place is defidently taken well care of and had everything we needed to make our meals everyday and to feel at home. Barry was also very accommodating and had a crockpot there for us to use after I asked if there was one. Thanks again, can't wait to come back and have another Creek Week!!!

Gorgeous surroundings. Barry was great. Plenty of outdoor eating space. Fires at night, stunning stars, creek adventure and walks with dogs-a great getaway with friends and family. The house is spacious and relaxing, rooms are cozy, and kitchen easy to cook in. Be prepared for a slim spiral staircase, very cool looking but somewhat difficult with gear, much convincing needed to get the dogs up, and a bit tricky for elders. The trails are such a treat and so many birds to watch. Thanks Barry!

We had a great time fishing, playing in the creek, exploring neighboring towns, canoeing the Kickapoo River, enjoying the fire pit, and playing games in the house. It was a fun weekend with the family!

If you're looking for a place to be as far as possible from society, this is it! I wanted to escape all the chaos of the city so I took my kids out for a few days here and it was great. The scene is beautiful. The trees, hills, and river are perfect for meditation and being mindful. The cabin is smaller than most I have visited but it's great for a family of 5 or less. There is only one bathroom so prepare to wait and share. There is an outdoor shower but the bugs are too friendly. Overall, wonderful experience.

great property in the Driftless
My wife and I, (and our little spaniel) really enjoyed this property. Barry has mowed nice walking paths along the trout stream and through the pines. the view from the porch is just outstanding- we just sat and enjoyed - saw lots of deer of course, bald eagle, sand hill cranes all around. Only caught two brook trout in the stream- but there are many other Class I and II trout streams in the area as well. We love driving the country roads in Amish country all around the area. the cabin was clean and comfortable , with all the needed items available. We may come back in the spring next year.

Great place for family & dogs
Barry was a super host. He was very friendly and easy to work with. This was my second time staying at his place. My mom was really impressed with how nice this place was. She really loved the chairs looking out to the view. The dogs enjoyed exploring the property. They had so much fun during the day, they couldn’t keep their eyes open at night. Fishing was fun. No one was really on their phones all weekend, except to take photos. We will definitely stay here again!

Bear Creek
It was awesome sitting on the porch and watching the eagle, the deer and all the wildlife. In morning sipping on a cup of coffee and listening to the concert of songbirds, all in tranquility of the babbling Bear Creek. Thank you so much.

Wonderful property and host!
We loved our time at Bear Creek! The host was incredible, going way above and beyond when we needed some medical care. The house is wonderful, the views are amazing, and the fishing was excellent! Close proximity to everything but really no reason to leave!

Bear Creek Retreat Get Away
Wonderful time for two grandparents and two grandchildren and it was also a pleasure to meet our host Barry. My 14 year old grandson got his first two trout fly fishing with Grandpa.

Beautiful, quiet and peaceful 😊
Our second time here and as great as we remembered. Fishing, hiking, playing in the creek, spending time with each other and bonfires every night. If you need a peaceful place to just get away Bear Creek Retreat is it.

Relaxing get sway
Barry always available and accommodating. After staying at Bear Creek Im realizing trout fishing is only my excuse to be down by a stream, because at Bear Creek we can enjoy the stream right from the porch with a cup of coffee, and not have to untangle lines or retrieve my wifes fly from a tree or the back of my pants. Another great trip! Thanks Barry!
