Praia D'El Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort

Very nice resort style hotel with lots of amenities. Huge outdoor pool with tons of lounger chairs. Great wait staff who are super attentive. Clearly the focus from upper management is about having happy customers because they all are polite, very nice, smile and will take on anything you ask. The beach at the ocean is spectacular.

A couple of small things they could do better. The hot tubs could have been hotter. Also, no smart TVs so can’t watch Netflix at night after a long day.

I’m actually very pleasantly surprised. Generally speaking, I prefer hotels in urban locations or at least near a town where there are restaurants and bars – in short, where there’s a buzz of life around the hotel. This hotel has everything you could wish for! Wonderful restaurants and bars, direct access to a breathtaking beach and, above all, very friendly and attentive hotel staff. As the hotel’s name suggests, it’s geared towards golf enthusiasts – a rather peculiar bunch. You can simply ignore them and focus on the excellent spa facilities and the well-equipped gym. I prefer surfing, and this region is absolutely (!) perfect for it. I’ll be back! Thank you very much for everything.

Prices in restaurants sometimes high.

Nice welcome from the guest services manager. We also liked the sauna / steam room. The breakfast buffet had a very good sweet and savory selection (albeit igiene conditions could be improved when making omelets, please ask the chef to wear gloves).

The whole building could really use a refresh as it feels old and decadent. Two out of three fountains in the indoor pool were out of order, same as the ice fountain. The hotel is too expensive for what you get. You can only get one towel per time in the spa/swimming pool which feels a bit cheap… Also there is no direct access to the beach, so you need to use the shuttle service (or your own car). Shame the lady at reception who couldn’t speak English very well gave me the wrong time of the last shuttle, meaning we got stuck at the beach.
