Michamvi Sunset Bay is a spectacular getaway in a beautiful setting. The staff made us feel so welcome and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Exceptional service, stunning location, attention to detail in all aspects. We will return

Schöne Anlage mit toller Bar und tollen Restaurants.
Pool wird trotz Reinigung sehr schnell dreckig.
Baustelle von neuer Hotelanlage nebenan.

The stuff were really helpful and friendly. Also the beachfront was very nice as well.
The toilet had a weird smell. It was clean but still the smell was unpleasant. The dinner menu had very limited options. Whilst the food was fresh the cooking mentality was very European and didn't remind at all Zanzibarian tastes.

It was like a little oasis. Very friendly staff, lovely location with the sunset in the evenings and a nice beach. the food was excellent! A very nice place!

Absolutely great stay in the Honeymoon Suite of Michamvi Sunset Bay. We felt pampered from the very beginning and to the moment of leaving the gate. The entire staff were a bliss, food was great, beers were always cold and the whole place is just great.
Perhaps a place for some exercise would have been great.

- Lovely staff (really everyone!) all of them were helpful and warm; from the manager Shirley waiting for my arrival at 3am and carrying my suitcase, to the young waitress at breakfast remembering how I wanted my coffee, to the Spa masseuse (really exceptional!), bartender at the sunset bar always smiling and happy - everyone made a difference!
- Human size hotel , not too many people, loved it!
- Dinner venue changed every night so original and uncommon
- Good sized room
- The wardrobe pretty original and with enough hangers!!
- Beach bag with towels in the room, very nice touch!
- Water shoes provided on the beach is another add
- I bought a bottle of water for lunch and didn’t finish it so the waitress brought it to the sunset bar so I could have it for later! Which hotels do that seriously??? Big thumbs up
- The food ! I am picky and I can tell the food was very good there.
- Same for the cocktails
- No charge for late check in (my flight made me arrived at 3am!) other hotels do it so it was another nice gesture
- Rooms are tired (walls floor ceiling bathroom etc)
- Soundproof is bad (especially with the hotel next door having loud music each night)
- Bed not that comfortable
- Breakfast hours not ideal (7.30 to 9.30) could be better to start at 7 (days I was on tour and was leaving at 8am I was rushing) and finish at 10 (people come here on vacation and don’t want to be on a schedule with an alarm clock on ;)
- Need a serious refresh (but I was reading they are going to do a full renovation soon so that should get much better!)
- Food prices not very cheap (for dinner)
- $4 for an espresso…. :( more than in France
- Transfers to the Rock or Paje quite pricy, but taxis are expensive as well so I guess this is Zanzibar?

Beside the place being simply stunning, what I loved the most was the quality of service. Absolutely amazing, from reception, management, bar& restaurant, cleaning... The whole team just makes you feel at home and cares about every detail.

So many things that we loved about this accomodation. It’s a little paradise in a (for now, there is a major building activity nextdoor) quiet location at Kae beach. although at the eastside of the island, here you can see the sunset. The accomodation has a tropical atmospehere and last but not least, the staff was more then friendly and hospitable.
There are always things that can be done better, but to be honnest: there was nothing we didn’t like of this accomodation.

The hotel is nice, the food was delicious (there was a grill night I really loved that) the staff was friendly and they always payed attention to us to enjoy our stay. However I dont like the beach, there was a lot of algae and there is nothing you can do, no shops, only 1-2 hotels in the beach but they are building lot of hotels right now along the beach. But this is not depends on the hotel! Last day we found a sandbank near the mangroves walking south. do not miss that!

This is a charming 3 star ( at most) boutique hotel right on the beach - fantastic soft white sand.
It contains 2 restaurant sites and 1 bar surrounded by palm trees, nice inner garden.
Manager Shirley gave us a very warm welocome very friendly lady, rest of staff is very kind, always smiling but appears very inexperienced.
We liked the choices of background music played during meal. One of the nights dinner was set by the pool with live band, this was a pleasant surprise.
Food was ok, home made Nutella was really good.
We felt greately cheated by the number of stars and high score reviews. This was the last leg of our Zanzibar trip and we intentionally choose a something on the higher end to have WoW finish( 50% higher price then our last 4 star luxury resort).
This is far from a luxury accommodation, rooms are really basic, no special touches apart from art on sale hanging on the walls. Furniture could do serious update, no TV, no bathhrobes nor shower caps, bathroom gets smelly and room has very loud fridge ( which we switched off at night). Bathroom state is unacceptable for the price we paid.
Breakfast needs more variety and freshness ( especially the baked pastry); bread sticks served at dinner every night were super dry and though to chew.
We understand family business can not compete with conglomerates but then price has to match the offer. This is miles away form $ 300/ night

A real gem. Beautiful hotel on a stunning beach. We were warmly welcomed and treated like family The food at breakfast and dinner was really good. Situated on a simply stunning white sandy beach which is quiet and not over crowed. Sadly this might change in the future with the large hotel being built right next door. Free use of canoes and paddleboards, a lovely beachside bar where you can sip a cocktail while watching the stunning sunsets. Highly recommended.

They were very helpful and attentive! The stay at the hotel was absolutely lovely and perfect. During breakfast we would receive menu options for dinner including info on the tides which was very helpful to plan the day ahead. The beach is very clean and tended to, great to relax really, with high tide perfect to take a dip in the warm water (if you’re a swimmer you need to go out further as it’s pretty shallow)! Snorkelers might be a little disappointed however there is a possibility to go to a sand bank a bit further away from the hotel during low tide to see star fish and of course the hotel offers snorkeling trips. It’s very peaceful only a few people walking around the beach and a few vendors. The latter were quite nice and didn’t bother you if you didn’t want to buy anything. If you needed anything the staff would always help you and organize everything for you! They even have a decent wine list with italian, south african and some other wines (red, white, rose and bubbly). The bar is great with an extensive cocktail list and you never go hungry there, they’re quite happy to make you a quick snack if needed. The pool area is very nice as well with all sorts of birds and butterflies flying around you. Definitely recommend a stay and would come back!
Some other useful info:
Airport: The arrival hall is chaos with loads of people trying to queue for their e-visa to be looked at or to get a visa on arrival. Do calculate to be stuck there for at least an hour especially if you decided to get a visa on arrival. You will need to fill out 2 forms which they either give you or you take (bring a pen!). Then you’ll queue for 1) visa on arrival (do not lose the receipt they give you and check if your name is correct or you queue again) 2) payment (50$cash p.P.) 3) visa confirmation. Everything is slow and there is no aircon but at least a bathroom.

We loved everything about this small boutique hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making it a great holiday.
The wifi in the room. But again.. I really didn´t need wifi while on holiday. The wifi was great at the bar though.

Excellent service all-round. Staff always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay more memorable. Located immediately on the beach with an array of activities available for free (e.g. paddle boards, snorkelling gear, kayaks, etc). Food and drinks delicious. Highly recommended!

Great beach, superb to swim in, very beautiful domain, relaxed location to lie down and relax, the food was a discovery, a way to taste the local food, big, spacious rooms and very hospitable hosts.
Personnel seemed a bit apathetic, we missed a nightly atmosphere (at 9pm everybody was off to bed).

Lovely setting, right at a nice long soft white sand beach with amazing views and stunning sun sets.
Cozy romantic boutique style hotel with limited number of rooms. Room was clean and well decorated.
Breakfast-lunch-dining area right at the beach. Great variety and choice of good food.
Great hotel managers, discreetly watch over the wellbeing of their guests.
Friendly and smiling staff.
Water temperature of the pool was too warm.
But one can obviously always get refreshment right in the sea.

We enjoyed our stay from the moment we arrived (the manager Shirley gave us a very very warm welcome) till we left. (in a kind of a hurry as we tried to enjoyed our stay till the very last second. :-)
The room was very big. Everything was there from small fridge, to airco, fan, large shower, ...
The price of beverages in the hotel is really ok. Staff is always there to help out.
If we come back to Zanzibar, We will stay here again. 1 of the manager is also working on a eco project to help the mangrove nearby to recover and grow back. We think the whole area will benefit from this! Keep up this good work!
Thanks again for this lovely stay. We hope to come back very soon.

We have travelled a lot and this is one of the most unique and wonderful places my wife and I have ever stayed. The staff, the managers and one of the owners is ready to make your stay the best it can be.
The beach is very unique. During high tide you have a wonderful place to swim andow tide you have a great place explore aquatic wild life. The location is superb!
The food is excellent, we recommend for half board and the food is fantastic! The staff are great, personable and attentive willing to assist.
The rooms were clean and well maintained
It was our 40th wedding anniversary and they made it so special, sending us on a traditional catamaran sunset cruise and a surprise during dinner.
Thank you Brad, Shirley and Mahmoud! We will surely see you again!
We tried hard to think of something, but couldn't think of anything.

Everything. We didn't really want to leave.
The staff wasn't just nice and polite, they really wanted to feel like home and they definitely succeded!
Small things made it even better!
The management really make us feel special as they were always there to help.
The location is perfect to let everything go and just relax, we have lost track of date and time first in the afternoon :)

Very comfortable stay, good bed, room in decent overall condition, good pool, friendly staff, amazing beach! The food is great! We love our food and we chose this hotel because of the good food reviews and they were certainly accurate. Great cocktails @ 6$ for the cocktail of the day. Very friendly managers who were very accommodating and engaging, they even prepared a breakfast for us the night before as we left the hotel on a day trip one morning at 6am.
Overall we would highly recommend this hotel/resort. They definitely have a good thing going over there.
Only two items we would recommend is new towels for both the bathrooms and pool area but it’s not something that made our stay unpleasant, rather just noticeable that the towels are old and need replacing.

The staff was very kind, the location was great, the sunset was beautiful.
The bed was hard to sleep.

We loved the location and the view. The lunch was very good too.
We didn’t like the diner we had it once and it was cold and very basic. We also didn’t like the fact that every morning the same guy was asking us if we wanted to have dinner and every morning we were telling him no! I asked him one day why it was so important for him that we have dîner and he answered « because you will pay for it » this was very unpleasant.
The pool was very often dirty
We found it expensive for what it was.
