Just always been a great stay the staff is very warm and welcoming. Parking is a massive plus especially for taller vehicles.

Amits always a good returning experience when I stay at the Ritz-Carlton. I have no complaints and everything went just smooth! Would definitely recommend to others.

Amazing customer service, everyone was so helpful and friendly. We had an overnight flight and they held our bags and let us hangout at the hotel even though we had already checked out. The whole hotel had such a fun vibe too, definitely recommend!

Overall stay was nice. Very helpful staff but I just feel bad for the area. Lots of things happening on the street with homeless. But the area is secured.

full of homeless people all around the property doing drug, police cars dealing with situation outside the parking lot. incredible

This place was great! Unfortunately I had a medical emergency and couldn't stay the entire night. Friendly staff, beautiful outside. Everything was super clean and comfortable. No coffee maker or refrigerator though. But since I didn't stay the whole night I didn't need coffee.

It seems like the hotel’s primary function is an event space. Very few people were staying at the hotel - felt like a ghost town, but the night I stayed there was a large corporate event with music blasting right outside my room for hours - finally they moved inside at 10pm so that the sound wasn’t intolerably loud - but it was still very loud until 11pm. Don’t stay here if you plan to sleep.

Super cool place with a lot of rock & roll history. Looks like something out of a Wed Anderson movie! Really friendly staff at reception. Rooms are quirky- they’re not super modern but great for a 2 star.
Only watch out is the hotel itself is in a dodgy part of town so would suggest leaving / coming back to the hotel in a cab if at night. But there’s security and you’re totally safe at the hotel itself!

Hands down my favorite place to stay in the city. Every aspect was awesome. The front desk (Orlando) was extremely helpful. We will absolutely be back, and I’m getting a robe next time.

The Phoenix is an oasis in the middle of the Tenderloin. The staff is super friendly and it’s a great location near a music venues.

It was enclosed all around

Staff was polite, respectful, cool to talk to, & went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable in SF. Sometimes, there are a couple of strange people around the parking lot but no one broke into our car & the Uber drivers were able to easily find us when needed. I can see us coming back here in the near future!

Loved the hotel. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The area around the hotel is full of homeless and very dirty but I liked the staff so much I will be staying here again.

This is a classic San Francisco venue, the home of weekend DJ pool parties for decades.
This hotel is NOT for everyone. It's more of 3-star motel. But the people are friendly, the staff really cares, the bar is excellent, the heated outdoor pool is lovely, and free safe parking is included. Hopefully you'll hit a weekend party.

I love Orlando, the mgr, and Auggie. They made us feel like we were “coming home”.

The Phoenix is a brilliant gem of a hotel in a very shady neighborhood (the Tenderloin). Keep in mind this is not a luxury hotel - limited housekeeping service, the bathroom is dated, no room service. Staff is friendly and helpful. The pool is warm and sparkling clean. And the red light above the bed makes for a super fun vibe.
The neighborhood is rough, but the Phoenix location is in good proximity to many things. The bar/dining room on site is only open Thurs-Sat, which is a bummer, but the bar across the street (Emperer Norton's Boozeland) is a good place to hang and get a drink.

We had a great experience with the hotel. Cute retro/music-themed decor fits great since we stayed there to go to a concert at the Great American Music Hall which is super close. The onsite restaurant and bar is fabulous. The pool and patio area look like a blast and provide a nice view even in December. The staff were very frindly and watchful for the guest's comfort and safety. The downfalls are that it's in the Tenderloin area with a high homeless population but if you walk over to Polk street it's better. Also, make sure you get a Banh Mi Sandwich from Saigon Sandwich across the street!! The hotel itself is old and it shows inside the rooms but it didn't have a dirty feel to me. I'll go back for sure.

This place is definitely a diamond in the rough. The place is spotless and hip, and the people who work here are righteous. Too bad the neighborhood is not as good.

The African American guy at check in was great. The restroom was not to standard cleaning at all, in the middle of the night the next room over was so loud and banging on the wall past 1am. The room door didn’t feel safe you had to push it all the way shut and the lock didn’t work. Overall it was an okay stay, but wouldn’t stay there again.

Hotel is a cute little gem just outside the Tenderloin district, not a far walk from everything, but especially close to Bill Graham Auditorium. The surrounding neighborhood is shady, but we felt safe and didn't have to worry about our vehicle. Just a heads up, there's no AC in the room (at least not in ours, or we couldn't figure it out if there was one.) Normally, not an issue in San Francisco but we were there during a heat wave so it was definitely uncomfortable. If we have to be in SF for anything, we will stay here again.

We came at a weird time (Thanksgiving) and wish the hotel restaurant was open. That said. We had a beautiful time at the Phoenix. We were beyond impressed with everyone we encountered during our visit. And my dog gives 5 woofs. 💙

What a fun experience. Vintage vibes with eclectic style - what's not to love! The service was great! I can't wait to return and use the pool! Snacks selection in the lobby was on point!

The hotel itself was cool with a fun aesthetic and a lot of history. Rad dining area/bar and loved the pool mural. The room was a little outdated and this was the first hotel in a long time that I've been to that didn't have a fridge.
The area around the hotel was disgusting, trash everywhere, tons of homeless with clear mental health and drug issues. The hotel needs a disclaimer warning people about the surrounding area.

Clean hotel in not such a great neighborhood. Rooms lacked coffee/tea essentials.

Overall ok , friendly staff , Area not the greatest and can be noisy or get noisy next door loud guests

Cool hotel, well located w parking which is big plus. While it’s in the tenderloin I felt perfectly safe

Room was dirty and staff was limited and not friendly

I loved the atmosphere of the hotel. It does sit in the center of the tenderloin, so once you leave the hotel, the area is quiet run over with homeless and conditions that can be tough to be around, but the hotel itself is awesome and manages to have this “oasis” feeling once you’re on the property grounds.

My favorite place to stay for seeing a concert in SF. Staff is always super friendly and helpful and beds/pillows quite comfortable.

The Phoenix has a neat 60s vibe and a cool history with guests such as Nirvana and David Bowie, but unfortunately the location nowadays is super sketchy. It's surrounded by struggling people that can make walking around uncomfortable. That's a shame because the central location is excellent.

My favorite hotel in downtown. Brought my kids up for a concert at the Bill Graham Civic, which is in easy walking distance. Great pool situated between all the rooms, great music playing over the speakers throughout the afternoon. THE friendliest front desk staff and all else working the property were great. This is a historic rock & roll hotel with many artists staying here on their way to stardom in the past, the pool is a piece of history itself. Can’t wait to stay here again. Bonus was being directly under the Blue Angels return path for their Fleet Week show, scared the crap out of us a couple times with their low and fast returns to the bay.

Great place in the TL. Really enjoyed the heated pool, bar, and complimentary coffee.
