Very good service. Takes care of us every year when we come down for the Ohio state buckeyes spring game. It’s a little expensive but the convenience is good!!

Nice property . Will not ever stay again.
30 dollars for parking in a small village in the middle of nowhere is a disgrace and rip off.

Upon booking this hotel 8 months out, we were excited to experience Ohio at this highly rated establishment. The place was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and rooms were pretty quiet! All of the pros end there as we quickly became very frustrated & disappointed in the service, hidden fees, & demeanor of the staff. First issue was with parking as there was the option to self-park or do valet, both only within $5 of each other ($30 or $35 daily) however what we were not told is that if you chose to self park, it was not a daily fee, but a fee every time you left the parking structure. Which we found out on our own not from the staff. When we brought up these concerns to the staff, they said there was nothing they could do as they were not affiliated with the parking garage. There are no microwaves in the room, only one in the main lobby for all guests to share, and the fridges in the room couldn’t keep anything cold. As a mom of 2 toddlers, nothing here felt family friendly in the way of convenience or assistance. Everything felt like we were the inconvenience whether it was asking for clean towels, or having to get new key cards daily as we were locked out. Staff was really unhelpful & unfriendly when asked about recommendations or had questions. No one seemed to have answers to anything and unwilling to take the extra step toward customer service. For the 4-star nature of this hotel, we were not impressed. It was not at all what we expected! We would not stay again.

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, hotel was very well taken care of. Great proximity to the Newport, where we were seeing a concert. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Loved that there was a Keurig, refrigerator and safe in the room as well as a lighted magnifying makeup mirror in the bathroom. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything was very easy. The girls at check in were very nice and helpful.

The hotel was very clean, modern, and accommodating. Unfortunately, as 3 of us girls were getting ready to go out for the night, our door opened and another group was able to come in. After awhile of not hearing anything, and not wanting to leave the room, we called the front desk about the situation and was met with nothing but attitude and was eventually hung up on. The rest of our stay was unsettling as we were unsure who else could have access to our room.

Right on Ohio State campus. Very friendly staff. No evening dining on site but the bar has a good menu, as well as good drinks.

Our stay was very ice - the hotel itself is clean and comfortable, the rooms included all of the niceties. To be honest, the staff makes this a great place to stay. We felt like we were being welcomed to stay, and people went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Room service would be a plus, and the menu is a little skimpy, but all in all we enjoyed our stay.

It was so loud in the rooms. You can literally hear the people next door unzipping their bags.

This is a very nice hotel. It is very comfortable, clean and quiet. The only thing that bothered me was that the restaurant was closed which was one of the reasons that I chose this hotel. I would not have been upset if I had been notified in advance that the restaurant was closed. Everything else was perfect.

I was very disappointed in the bathroom shower. The mold in the grout was horrible. And the “fan” in the bathroom never came on. Hence the mold. Please clean!!

Plus side: good location, very clean, kind staff
You can tell this hotel has suffered from the pandemic. Staying here both pre and post there is a marked difference. Although the rooms are clean and nice gone are the personal touches which made this place so special - a knowledgeable front desk staff, the bar and restaurant, the shuttle service. Now this hotel is just another hotel.

Staff was super helpful and the property was safe, and in a good location. Would like to stay again. I wish I would’ve known that the property did not have dining because of a Christmas break for students. I was hoping for easy dining, but since school was out, that wasn’t available. Definitely would keep that in mind when booking.

Had a very good stay. Was in the room during the day and wish house keeping would reach out and ask if anything was needed.

Very nice hotel room in middle of campus. Restaurant and bar hours not great.

As usual, my stay at the Blackwell was uneventful from check in to check out, which is why I stay there.

Upscale property, with upscale prices at the bar/lounge. But I asked for batteries for the TV remote, and they were cheerfully responsive and called maintenance, but nothing happened. Small complaint, because it's really a nice property right on OSU's campus and a block away from Varsity Club.

This was one of the nicest hotel stays I've ever had. I was doing research for a few days at an OSU special collections library about a 15-minute walk away. The room was perfect in really every way: comfortable bed, excellent lighting and lots of it, and possibly the first hotel room in which the room's temperature remained comfortable for my entire stay without adjusting the thermostat. I would have liked a microwave and a way to boil water (it came with a Keurig and free K-cups), but that is a minor complaint. The lobby is lovely and the staff were all very helpful and pleasant. There was light construction each morning outside, but the workers didn't start until 8 am and that is just life in any city. The soundproofing was good enough that it wasn't annoying, really. The only complaint I had is the same for every hotel: the doors loudly slam shut (for secure locking) and people sometimes talk in the halls loudly at night and the doors pass a lot of noise. Solve that, and this is 100 points out of 100, but you'll have to settle for 99.

Stay was convenient for event we had planned. Room was okay only issue was air conditioning in the room it was very hot throughout the night and the air was barely blowing. Valet parking was a nice add on but the cost was a little high.

Great location! Within walking distance to the Shoe (Ohio Stadium) and the Schottenstein Center.

I picked it based on proximity to Ohio State University. The room was clean and quite spacious. One thing annoyingly missing was drinking water. You could refill your own bottles on the ground floor. But it would have been helpful to have some drinking water in the room on arrival.

They don't provide room service which would have been nice.

My stay was generally good. Some of the cleaning staff did a good job while others were just lackadaisical in their cleaning. The waste bin in the room was not emptied for two days.

If you are traveling on business do not stay here. I suppose if attending a game at the University of Ohio or something on campus, as I was, the location is convenient. Convenience is undercut by student staff who have not had proper training. Thin walls and plumbing that is less than stellar.
As a business traveler this hotel should be avoided. I was placed in a room in a construction zone without warning after requesting a room in a quiet area. Before 9am, while on a conference call banging, scraping a drills could be heard at a very pound level. After complaining to the front desk staff , in person since the phone was inoperable, I was told that no construction was taking place on property. That was not true. I discovered the noise was coming from room 319 which is actually an electrical room. Workmen were removing electrical panels. And there was a construction crew outside my window!
The night before it was impossible to get close to the entrance to hotel since only one student was on duty to valet park cars and the drive was completed blocked. I don’t mind self parking, preferred actually, but I could even get close enough to front of hotel to drop my bags. The garage is close but the most convenient entrance and elevators are in the area reserve for valet.
No water in room.
Breakfast not available until 7am.
I’ll never stay at this property again.
The restaurant staff of students were the one bright spot.

It was a great stay except the air conditioning was broken. The room was about 76. They could not move us because the hotel was full.

Other than the fact that sadly the hotel is located only a few blocks from some very sketchy areas; it is awesome! Modern, clean and comfortable albeit a bit pricey. Hard to beat!
