The Maj Hotel was esthetically pleasing. Super clean, plants filed the lobby entrance. Room was pristine. Bathroom had a smart mirror.. pretty cool. Everything seemed brand new! Wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Phili!! A+++

We loved how everything was controlled through the app….lights, door locks, temperature of the room. Very cool and easy to use. We will definitely be back!!

Front desk team around the clock were very friendly, made us feel welcomed. The hotel is really clean, the lobby is small but very cozy with great decorations, the gym was really good as well. The room was really good with double queen beds, the pillows are amazing, I am looking them up online to purchase them. Technology is awesome, the room card reader very safe. The bathroom had a smart mirror where you can search for music, weather forecast, etc... No microwave, no hairdryer, no fridge but everything else compensates for it. A microwave is available at the cafeteria of the hotel adjacent to the front desk. We recommend this hotel

The room was great.
While the tech focus is cool. It's also annoying.
I don't want to control everything on my phone.
In fact I'd like to use my phone less, not more.
And you remove all human elements of service
for your restaurant for breakfast.
Why do I have to go find my own water?
There's no sense of what's happening with the food order once it's sent over the phone. No one checks
on you. It's just you, your table and your phone....
Waiting to see what happened with the order.

I was extremely impressed with Mesha (front desk clerk)
She was absolutely brilliant!
She went over and above to help us out and answer questions about the area and hotel !
After I priced out a few other hotels and accommodation options, I honestly paid a little more but booked because of her !

We found the rooms remarkable quiet and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The location, near three art museums and several restaurants is excellent. If we return to Philadelphia, we will probably stay there.
That said, the hotel has some problems. It is an ultramodern, boutique hotel and we found the electrical fixtures bewildering. We are in our mid-70s, so maybe that's understandable, but the rooms definitely need more ceiling lights; with the curtain drawn, they are quite dark. Likewise, the rooms could use some creature comforts like some way to boil water in them, though the complimentary coffee in the cafe (really a kind of minimart) was excellent.

Awesome property. Very modern and clean. Easy street parking is available. There are many high tech amenities such as room control from your phone. We had a late check out, and the only issue was getting a knock on the door from the staff 5 minutes before our departure to make sure we were leaving. Overall, great property. We would stay there again.

Control everything with your phone

Staff was great! As an eco hotel we opened the door and controlled everything from our phone. Weather had turned very warm, and the 1st and 2nd rooms we were given did not have ac functioning. But 3rd room was the charm. I'm sure they'll get that fixed. Watch the lights. They turn off if there is no movement in the room! We weren't the only people confused by that "feature". The good news. Very convenient to the Art Museum, our primary destination, and a $8 flat rate parking lot less than 1 block east. Also staff let us drop off luggage early in the day! Very accommodating. Definitely recommend.

My stay at the Maj was amazing. I love how I was able to control everything in my room from my phone. The saff was awesome and the location was a plus. I had a nice view from my room. I will definitely be back.

Check-in was awful and took more than 15 minutes. Employee was extremely rude. I later discovered that the employee posted my private information (name and phone number) on her Instagram page - a huge invasion of privacy. Room was small but clean. Overall, beware this hotel!

I liked the hotel and the modern hi-tech features in it. The location for Phila gests and tourists is perfect, administrative staff at the receptions is wonderful (personal thanks to Kiara and … sorry, forgot the name of the girl who worked after 11 PM on 21 Jan. Both of them is the best assets of the Hotel. They answered all our questions about Hotel, vicinity, parking (!) and operating of the room thermostat. Thanks to them! Obviously, no problem with check in and out.
We liked our stay and already recommended your place to family and friends!

The company website made me skeptical. However once i arrived and checked in i was pleasantly surprised at how inviting and comfortable the hotel was. The facade photos also don't match the actual exterior of the building. The hotel is technology focused in lue of usual amenities like in-room refrigerators. But its fine.

The amazing technology/convenience, friendliness, cleanliness and delicious coffee alone is worth having to pay to park in a lot a block away. I will absolutely be back! Loved it!

The MAJ is certainly an indication of where hotels are going. EVERYTHING is done via your iPhone - you unlock your door via phone, you control the lights and temperature via phone, operate the tv with your phone. There IS a standard television remote. The room is clean, airy and bright. There are plenty of places to hang your clothes, but the hangars are only good for shirts and coats. There are no hangars for pants, so we were at a loss. The in-room HVAC sounds like a jet engine so much so that we had a hard time sleeping it was SOOOO noisy. Around 2AM, we finally figured out how to shut off the system going through multiple menus on the thermostat. There is no phone in the room, so when you have to call down to the desk, you dial the hotel with your cell phone. Check-in was easy, the woman at the desk was pleasant and helpful but she was also the woman who was there again in the morning! Would stay at another MAJ hotel, but will be prepared to have my phone fully charged!

The Maj is a funky modern new boutique hotel. Everything is digital including using your phone as your room key and control for everything in the room. For us the best part was that the hotel was located 1/2 mile from the event venue.

We really liked this modern boutique hotel. The staff was friendly and efficient, including those we directly interacted with: Mecca and Queen. Modern tech is the name of the game -- you can control everything in your room from your phone (but you don't have to if that's not your thing). Rooms are pretty spacious, with comfy beds and floor-to-ceiling windows. We didn't have it this time, but the food at the weekend brunch (the only time they bring a chef in) looked amazing. Convenient to the Art Museum, Eastern State and Schuylkill River Trail. Not far from Center City. Only dinged on eco-friendliness...no separated recycling bins in the room, which I think discourages recycling for a lot of people. We will definitely return.

Amazing find in Philadelphia. The front desk staff could not have been nicer. Rooms are modern and clean and windows open for fresh air. This hotel would be a 10 out of 10 but please please fix your noisy AC. Like other reviews it is so loud it’s like helicopters flying over your head. The hotel could be sooo Zen if you could switch off the vents.

Amazing cute urban place! Beautiful all around and friendly staff. Great gym! Virtual keys and utilities felt super bougie. Loved loved loved! Great location by the art museum. The only thing is the parking is on the road or across the street.

Beautiful hotel! Would love to see a chain of these pop up in different cities. Staff was very friendly and helpful, location was great (walking distance to Whole Foods, park, restaurants, free parking, and the art museum), and the room was designed with luxury in mind. Nothing felt "cheap", very clean and quiet. Would book again!
