Great property and location. Very convenient to the heart of Charleston yet private enough for a family to enjoy time together.

Can I give this property ten stars? Because it deserves it! The house has too many amenities to list them all here, but great host is at the top. The location on Broad Street has one mere minutes to Charleston's best shops, restaurants, and all the incredible history that surrounds the city. We loved every minute!

This apt in the French Qtr is simply amazing. The location was 'in the action" yet quiet and private. The personal touches provided by Ruthie were like none other. This is a very special place and we will return!

The kitchen house provided very comfortable lodging, beautiful decor in a 1700's house, a stocked kitchen, private parking and yard area (surrounded by high wall), in a central location. Not to mention an owner/proprietor who responds quickly. What's not to like about this property?

The property couldn’t have been in a better location. We rented a car and used it once in four days. Everything was close by within walking distance. The kitchen house was darling and I am so glad the owner didn’t try to make too many changes to the historic architecture. It’s a beautiful place to stay.

Great location, convenient, private, parking, very clean and neat antique carriage house with updated interior. Exactly what we were looking for. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in the old town area of Charleston.
Beautiful neighborhoods, great restaurants, plenty of shopping. So much history within walking distance.

Our group of two couples very much enjoyed our stay at this home. We appreciated the parking spot, and also the effective A/C for a few of the warmer days. We could walk to almost all our destinations, including the Market, the Provost Dungeon, the pier to get to Fort Sumter, the theater, and 4 amazing restaurants. Just a few small things were amiss (apparently due to previous tenants) but were fixed immediately. Be aware that the staircase is probably as old as the house. It is narrow and steep and curves halfway up with partial steps like a spiral staircase. Thankfully there are good sturdy handrails. Very happy with this rental

We had an excellent stay in Charleston for a long Labor Day weekend. The food, the history, and the stay at the Kitchen House were perfect. Would highly recommend!

This is a lovely historic property in perfect location. It was well appointed and aesthetically the house, grounds and view into the park are “bonuses.” Private parking is helpful and having a washer-dryer and 2 showers was a godsend (given the heat and humidity). The owner was very accommodating when we called with a question. The only suggestion is that guests be prepared for stairs that are fitting to historic home- they are a bit steep and lighter luggage is a good idea.

What a most memorable visit to Charleston. Everything in the French Quarter, where most restaurants, bars, activities, etc. are located, was within easy walking distance. The house was beautiful and full of character and charm - what history must lie within those historic walls. The view outside overlooked a wall and into Washington Park, so it was scenic from inside and yet private from the outside. The walk down the private brick driveway to the front door was like taking a leisurely stroll a few hundred years ago. It was the perfect complement to the whole character of Charleston.
The owners were so pleasant and available throughout our stay if ever there was something we needed. The unit was well stocked - coffee, laundry supplies, etc. - and surprised us with complimentary "refreshments" upon our arrival. We found a gem amongst jewels in the heart of Charleston and our hosts could not have been more gracious, friendly and helpful with so many suggestions of what to do and where to go.
My only advice for first-time visitors to Charleston is to make dinner reservations well ahead of time, which we did. The variety of dining experiences and breadth of food options is enough to meet the needs of any palate and budget.
Definitely going to reconnect with these owners next time we visit the area. Thanks so much.

The Kitchen House is the perfect location to experience all that is wonderful about Charleston. Literally right out the front door you’re immersed in the charm of Charleston. The fabulous cuisine that can be found all over Charleston is but a short walk away. The Kitchen House is well appointed and a very comfortable place to relax. The property manager was very available to address any needs we had and provided excellent instructions on how to access the property. This will be our go to place for future trips to Charleston.

My family stayed here for 3 nights and it was a dream. We had never been to Charleston and picked this house because of its historical relevance and location. We were delighted by the property and its location and private drive. The location is perfect for visiting Charleston. Thank you so much for having us and we would love to stay again!

The location of this charming home could not be better. It is clean, relatively quiet (and we are noise adverse) and comfortable. I highly recommend. The only people who would not do well here are those with mobility problems as the stairs to the 2nd floor are tricky. We would for sure stay here again when in Charleston. A big thank you to our hosts.

Always wanted to visit Charleston and this trip did not disappoint. Property was in the heart of everything. Exactly as pictured. Walking distance to pretty much anywhere you want to go. Property manager sent a long list of recommendations for the area that was greatly appreciated. Can't wait to return.

If you want to be near all the action in downtown Charleston, this is the place to be. Easy walk to all the great tourist sights, and restaurants. The Kitchen House, as it is called is beautifully decorated with all the necessary amenities.

Can't get a better location. Great historical building. You will hear street noise and church bells during sleep but I doubt you will escape that downtown.

Fantastic place! I stayed for four days with my parents and we couldn’t have been happier. The unit had a great Charleston feel to it and was very comfy and quiet. My parents are getting up there in age and were very pleased with the proximity to restaurants, historical sites, and shopping. And the off-street parking for our suburban was a huge plus. Would definitely stay here again!

Ruthie is an excellent hostess and the kitchen house is elegant and comfortable while retaining many period touches. The location on Broad Street is so convenient - we parked the car on arrival on a Monday and did not need to use it again until our departure on Friday morning. All the treasures of the historic district are easily accessible - beautiful restaurants, historic house tours, meandering walks along charming streets..... the list goes on. We had the good fortune to have several conversations with Linda, Ruthie's mother, who resides in the house itself; this charming lady gave several suggestions for restaurants and was very gracious and welcoming. We cannot recommend this VRBO rental highly enough!

This was the best VRBO experience I’ve had. The property was spotless. The host thought of everything, from high quality linens, robes and welcome treats. The location couldn’t be better for walking around Charleston, convenient to all things that make a visit to Charleston complete. However, even with the close proximity it was quiet as the house is tucked back behind the main house and beside a park. Highly recommend staying here —perfect for 2 couples, a small family or a girls weekend.

My husband and I booked this property based on location, photos and previous reviews. It did not disappoint! We had a wonderful stay and would definitely book this property again. The location was perfect. We loved being tucked away and felt safe. The home was charming. Ruthie was quick to respond whenever we reached out. She even sent us a guide beforehand with several recommendations which was much appreciated.
This was truly a hidden gem and would highly recommend!
