This place feels like going to your favorite aunt’s house. She has taken great care to prepare for your stay, making sure everything is clean and there’s lots of clean linens, and extra items in the kitchen. The decorations are artful and eclectic. This is how VRBO started - with people sharing vacation homes they truly care about - not a profit-driven bare bones kind of property. And the location is fantastic! Only drawbacks are the somewhat narrow metal stairs and the location of the second bathroom is a bit awkward, but some trade offs are to be expected with historic preservation.

Our New Years Eve trip to Charleston was amazing due to the location of our accommodations. Jan was easy to work with and the condo was perfect for our needs. We walked to all of the restaurants, shops, and sites without needing to use an Uber.

Very nice condo right in the heart of the historic district.. The most comfortable beds and had everything you needed for your stay (toiletries, kitchen stocked with coffee, creamer, sugar). Jakes deli right at the bottom of the steps had easy and delicious breakfast and lunch items. Easy walking distance to many of Charleston’s attractions!!! We would highly recommend this condo!

This property has a great central location to the historic area of downtown. After being out and about all day in the city it’s a great place to come back to and unwind. The owners have made it feel like a home away from home!

My family and I enjoyed our long weekend in Charleston and loved the charm of South of Broad. It was a great location, easy to walk to restaurants, the market and was perfect for my daughter to see the area south of the College. Thank you for sharing your lovely place with us!

We had an amazing stay at the Jacobsen property! The location was perfect…we were able to easily walk to anything In Charleston and the area was quiet in the evenings and we were able to sleep very well. The rooms were very clean and well equipped with everything that we needed, even down to the coffee which was also amazing! Jan was very responsive to any questions that I had. We definitely plan on staying here again on our next trip to Charleston.

Exactly as presented - and exceeded our wildest expectations!! The location is ideal for walking literally everywhere on the peninsula. The building IS old - which is part of the ambiance of Old Charleston. The exterior steps are safe & easy to manage, the foyer welcoming and the entire property charming and delightful! The beds are extremely comfortable with plenty of choices in pillows. We hope to book for next year within a few days!

My sister and I rented this beautiful apartment on Broad Street during Spoleto. We live in Mt. Pleasant (10 miles away) but wanted to enjoy some "downtown life". The apartment had everything we needed. Accommodations were as advertised (lovely). Coordination with Jan was perfect. Thank you so much!

Beautiful, comfortable, roomy and charming VRBO. We were extremely delighted with this property. It was perfect for four “Golden Girls” to reconnect for our 70th birthdays. It fit our need to enjoy coffee and breakfast pastries in the morning. The fridge held our cold beverages for great conversations in the evening. In between, we could walk in all directions to enjoy this beautiful, historic city.

We stayed in the two bedroom, two bath place. It was a cozy place for an group of old friends to sit and chat. Excellent location to walk to shopping and restaurants!

The location was perfect. The beds were very comfortable. While I realize it is an historic building, we thought the apartment could use a paint job. Also, in the second bedroom, we found an empty vodka bottle (we threw it out) and a drawer full of VCR tapes. We never did find the garbage can!

We were 2 couples and having 2 King Size beds and 2 bathrooms was ideal along with a sitting area between the rooms. One bathroom is en-suite but the other you need to pass through the sitting area to get to it. We were able to manage the steps but know that there are 20 steps to reach the landing and enter the unit. Pretty much most of the restaurants and sights to see were within a mile so we never used the car. Called Uber for some of the longer distances and they are easily available. Right down stairs is Jakes Eatery and we got coffee and a breakfast sandwich each morning and they have a nice menu for sandwiches as well. Definitely make dinner reservations ahead of getting there unless you don’t mind getting seated at 9pm or later. Jan and Mike live upstairs so they are always available for any questions. It’s a nice historic building and fits in nicely with Charleston vibe.

Jan did a great job of communicating. She was also accommodating when we needed to drop our luggage off early and even allowed us to check in a little earlier. The apartment was perfect for our stay in Charleston. It was located in the historic area, therefore, close to restaurants and sites. We did have a few friends over as a meeting place prior to dinner. There was a nice living room area that could accommodate us and made it perfect spot for friends coming from various hotels to meet up. We did not stay long and we did not have a party, however, we were surprised to get an email from Jan stating that , the apartment was only meant for four people and not groups. She also said that no one had complained, and, although I understand her rules, after the fact, it’s still a little weird to me how she knew that our friends had met there. It gave me the creepy feeling that we were being watched. She did not mention any video surveillance on the property , so that was a little concerning. But otherwise we had a great visit and I would recommend renting from Jan if anyone was going to Charleston.

We had a wonderful time staying in this historic building, a family run business that is clearly cared for. Walking access to historic Charleston was fantastic.

The apartment was just right for two couples, with king beds in both bedrooms. Bathrooms clean with lots of towels; not much space for toiletries but plenty of surface area on bedroom tables and dressers. Nice location for walking to sights and restaurants. Would be perfect for spring house and garden tours. Chilly outside temps made it challenging to control inside heat throughout the space but that's to be expected in an old building. We appreciated the bedroom space heater and extra blankets! Jan was very prompt and cordial communicating prior to our visit. Entry and exit instructions were clear; wifi worked well. Overall, a nice winter break from Michigan!
